Bangladesh in deep trouble after clashing with Modi govt as this 'Report Card' will shake anti-India Yunus, it is about...
Kaladan Multimodal Transit Transport Project: After Sheikh Hasina was removed from power in August 2024 and the interim government of Bangladesh led by Muhammad Yunus came to power, India-Bangladesh relations have only worsened. Moreover, the anti-India stance of the Yunus government has forced India to rethink its strategic issues. As a result, India is now prioritizing connectivity through Myanmar rather than relying on Bangladesh to have strategic control over its Northeast region, more specifically the Siliguri Corridor, called the 'chicken's neck' of India. As part of its Act East Policy, India is fast-tracking the Kaladan Multimodal Transit Transport Project, which connects Kolkata to Mizoram via Myanmar, avoiding the narrow and vulnerable Siliguri corridor, thus bypassing Bangladesh. About Kaladan Multimodal Transit Transport Project
Experts say that the Kaladan Multimodal Transit Transport Project is the most significant project that India has undertaken in Myanmar. The Multi Modal Transit Transport Project, jointly identified by India and Myanmar was aimed to create a multi-modal mode of transport for shipment of cargo from the eastern ports of India to Myanmar. The purpose of the project also included to connect the northeastern region of India through Myanmar. As per a report carried by news agency IANS, the project provides a strategic link to the North-East, thereby reducing pressure on the Siliguri Corridor.
The historic project includes a waterway component of 158 km on the river Kaladan, from Sittwe to Paletwa. The project also includes a road component of 109 km from Paletwa to Zorinpui, on the India-Myanmar border in Mizoram.
Readers should note that the project started in 2008 but due to various reasons including the ethnic conflicts in Myanmar, the project growth has slowed down.
However, as per the officials in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), the delay in completion of the vital project owing to numerous reasons, the cost of the project has increased eight to nine times. How Kaladan Transport Project will help India bypass Bangladesh
After the Kaladan Multimodal Transit Transport Project is completed, the Kolkata-Mizoram route will be shortened by about 1,000 km, saving 3–4 days of travel time and also reduce India's dependence on Bangladesh.

In meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, NSA Ajit Doval calls for countering terrorism
In an oblique reference to Pakistan's support to cross-border terrorist activities, NSA Ajit Doval on Monday emphasised the need to counter terrorism in all its forms for regional peace and stability during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing. Doval's call for countering terrorism comes nearly a month-and-a-half after India carried out precision strikes on nine terror infrastructures in Pakistani territories early on May 7 in response to the horrific Pahalgam terrorist attack that killed 26 civilians. NSA Doval is visiting China to attend a conclave of top national security officials of the member nations of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), an influential regional grouping focused on security related issues. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Upgrade to Lifetime Office 365 (Discover Now) prime software Upgrade Undo Doval and Wang also deliberated on various aspects of India-China relations amid efforts by the two sides to rebuild the ties that came under severe strain following the eastern Ladakh border standoff . Both sides reviewed recent developments in India-China relations and underscored the need to promote the overall development of the ties, including by fostering greater people to people engagement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said Live Events "The NSA also emphasized the need to counter terrorism in all its forms and manifestations to maintain overall peace and stability in the region," it said. The remarks are also seen as an indirect message to China to put pressure on its all-weather ally Pakistan to take action against terror outfits operating from its soil. Wang noted that China-India relations have made some positive progress and it is essential that both sides further enhance communication, build mutual trust, and work toward resolving practical issues, according to Chinese envoy to India Xu Feihong. "Only when the dragon and elephant dance together can there be a win-win outcome. China and India should properly handle sensitive issues and maintain peace and tranquillity in the border regions," Xu said in a social media post. "Doval said that India is willing to strengthen collaboration with China in multilateral fields and fully supports China's role as the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in hosting a successful summit," the envoy said. "As two major Asian nations, India and China can make even greater contributions to the international community," he added. The MEA said Doval and Wang also exchanged views on other bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest. "The NSA noted that he looked forward to meeting with Wang Yi in India at a mutually convenient date for the 24th round of the Special Representative (SR) talks," it said. China is hosting the SCO conclave in its capacity as the current chair of the grouping. The military standoff in eastern Ladakh began in May 2020 and a deadly clash at the Galwan Valley in June that year resulted in a severe downturn in ties between the two neighbours. The face-off effectively ended following completion of the disengagement process from the last two friction points of Demchok and Depsang under an agreement finalised on October 21 last year. In December, NSA Doval visited Beijing and held talks with Wang under the framework of Special Representatives (SR) dialogue on the boundary dispute. The decision to revive the SR mechanism and other such dialogue formats was taken at a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan on October 23. The Modi-Xi meeting came two days after India and China firmed up a disengagement pact for Depsang and Demchok.

Where are US military bases in the Middle East? Iran's strike on US base in Qatar sparks renewed focus
The United States maintains a significant and strategic presence in the Middle East, with bases serving as aerial hubs, naval ports, logistics centers, and regional command posts. Here's a detailed overview of US military bases in the Middle East, and their strategic importance. Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar: The region's largest and a major base for approximately 8,000–10,000 personnel, including the forward Combined Air Operations Center for CENTCOM operations in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan Naval Support Activity, Bahrain: Home to the US Navy's Fifth Fleet, hosting around 9,000 staff, crucial for securing supply routes in the Gulf, Red Sea, and Indian Ocean Camp Arifjan, Kuwait: A major logistics hub supporting U.S. forces across the region with prepositioned equipment and supply facilities Al Dhafra Air Base, UAE, Camp Buehring & Ahmad al-Jabir Air Base, Kuwait, Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, and Prince Sultan Air Base, Saudi Arabia—all host US personnel and aircraft, contributing to deterrence and readiness Jordan: Multiple smaller bases for training and surveillance Iraq & Syria: Dotted with special operations outposts supporting anti-ISIS missions Oman & Qatar: Use of port facilities for naval logistics In total, about 30,000 US troops are stationed across these installations, supported by forces in Iraq, Syria, Jordan, and maritime units in the region On June 23, Iran launched a missile strike on Al Udeid Air Base—headquarters of US Central Command—framing it as a 'mighty and successful response' to US strikes on its nuclear facilities. Al Udeid is just 120 miles from Iran across the Gulf. This marks a significant escalation: for the first time in this latest round of tit-for-tat strikes, Iran directly targeted a facility central to American military command in the region. The US presence in the Middle East is under renewed threat following: June 22: US stealth bombers struck Iran's nuclear sites (Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan) June 23: Iran retaliated by targeting Al Udeid Air Base, escalating the risk of wider war Regional fallout: Qatar and Bahrain implemented emergency protocols; US allies fear becoming collateral
