3 Potential Trade Destinations for Wizards Forward Corey Kispert Before 2025 NBA Draft
3 Potential Trade Destinations for Wizards Forward Corey Kispert Before 2025 NBA Draft originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Washington Wizards are expected to shop Corey Kispert around in trade talks this offseason, potentially putting the former Gonzaga star on a new NBA team after four seasons in DC. Advertisement Kispert signed a four-year, $54 million extension recently, which includes a team option in 2028-29, a contract that makes him a desirable asset to contending teams while Washington continues to live in rebuilding mode. Kispert played 61 games for the Wizards last year before a thumb injury ended his season prematurely in mid-March. The 6'7 wing averaged 11.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.7 assists while shooting 57.4% on two pointers and 36.4% from beyond the arc in 26.4 minutes per game. Kispert's size, off-ball movement, outside shooting, and ability to attack closeouts and score at the rim make him a very valuable scoring wing in the modern NBA, and while he has defensive limitations there is little doubt he will attract multiple suitors on the market. With the NBA draft just nine days away, we take a look at three teams that could make a push for Kispert this offseason: Advertisement Philadelphia 76ers Philadelphia was among the worst three point shooting teams in the NBA last year, and with power forward Guerschon Yabusele hitting free agency and Paul George looking completely lost, it would not be a surprise at all to see the 76ers get involved in a trade for Kispert. If Washington is looking to be aggressive in moving up in the draft, sending Kispert and the No. 6 pick to Philadelphia for No. 3 overall could work well for both sides. It gives the Wizards a chance to swing for a superstar in either Ace Bailey or VJ Edgecombe - who might not be available at No. 6 - while giving Philadelphia a proven outside shooter and keeping them in position to land a quality piece from this draft class. Memphis Grizzlies Memphis just made a massive move by trading Desmond Bane to Orlando for a package that included four first round picks. The Grizzlies don't appear to be rebuilding, however, and Kispert is the kind of player they could target to help replenish some of the production lost in the Bane trade. Advertisement While it has not happened yet, a Zag-for-Zag trade very much makes sense here if the Grizzlies are willing to move Brandon Clarke to help clear out their crowded frontcourt, while Washington gets a veteran rim-running big to pair with Alex Sarr and Richaun Holmes. Milwaukee Bucks Milwaukee will be without superstar guard Damian Lillard next season, and could lose shooting guard Gary Trent Jr to free agency as well. The Bucks are in a unique spot with Giannis Antetokounmpo, but if they do want to keep building around him and contending in the east, adding a proven shooter and scorer in Kispert makes a ton of sense. A deal involving Pat Connaughton (to salary match) and young big Tyler Smith could work for both sides, possibly with draft pick compensation going to Washington as well. 2025 Philadelphia 76ers complete 2 round mock draft 3.0: best fits
The 2025 NBA draft for the Philadelphia 76ers will be focused mostly on the No. 3 pick as the Sixers will be looking to add one of the top players in this draft. After a disastrous 2024-25 season, Philadelphia was granted the No. 3 pick and will look to add one of the top young players in a draft loaded with talent. The Sixers have two picks in the draft and now is the time for a mock draft for Philadelphia for both selections (3 and 35). President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey was able to coax a second-round pick from the Dallas Mavericks in the Quentin Grimes-Caleb Martin trade back at the February deadline as Philadelphia looks to get younger. Advertisement Now is the time for a mock draft 3.0 for the Sixers for both rounds of the 2025 draft: Round 1, pick No. 3 overall: VJ Edgecombe, Baylor Jan 7, 2025; Waco, Texas, USA; Baylor Bears guard VJ Edgecombe (7) scores a layup between Cincinnati Bearcats guard Connor Hickman (8) and guard Simas Lukosius (41) during the first half at Paul and Alejandra Foster Pavilion. Mandatory Credit: Chris Jones-Imagn Images 2024-25 stats: 15.0 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 3.2 apg, 2.1 spg, 43.6% FG, 34% 3FG There is a lot of love for Ace Bailey, and deservedly so when considering his upside, but there are questions about both his game and his draft strategy. He has a questionable shot selection as he is a tough shot taker/tough shot maker type of player which might not translate to the NBA level. He also has not worked out for any team yet--including canceling on the Sixers. Edgecombe, meanwhile, is doing everything right. He is supremely athletic, able to take any defender off the dribble, and attack the basket, and he is more than solid defensively as he is aggressive at the point of attack and can create turnovers. He is an outstanding worker, and even though there are some finishing issues at the basket, he is somebody who can contribute on both ends right away. Advertisement In terms of his catch-and-shoot ability, a skill needed on a team with Joel Embiid on it, he shot 45-for-124 (36.3%) on catch-and-shoot 3s per Synergy Sports. However, he did shoot 21-for-45 (46.7%) when unguarded on those attempts. It shows that he can knock down and open look should it be needed. That shows he has a lot of shooting upside for his position and should be a great option. Also, when considering his open-court ability, the transition game led by Edgecombe, Tyrese Maxey, and Jared McCain will be tough to stop as Philadelphia focuses on getting younger and faster. Other options: Ace Bailey, Kon Knueppel, Tre Johnson Round 2, pick No. 35 overall: Chaz Lanier, Tennessee Mar 30, 2025; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Tennessee Volunteers guard Chaz Lanier (2) shoots the ball against the Houston Cougars in the first half during the Midwest Regional final of the 2025 NCAA tournament at Lucas Oil Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Robert Goddin-Imagn Images 2024-25 stats: 18.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.1 apg, 0.9 spg, 43.1% FG, 39.5% 3FG Advertisement After four seasons at North Florida, Lanier transferred to Tennessee for a fifth season of college and shot the lights out. He took 8.2 triples per game and knocked then down at a nearly 40% clip in the toughest conference in college basketball. His age will turn a lot of teams off. He will turn 24 in December, but he might be worth a look as a specialist with a second-round pick. Other options: Johni Broome, Labaron Philon, Drake Powell This article originally appeared on Sixers Wire: 2025 Philadelphia 76ers complete 2 round mock draft 3.0: best fits

Could the San Antonio Spurs trade for star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown?
Could the San Antonio Spurs trade for star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown? The veteran Celtics star could end up in Texas if rumbles about the Spurs considering trading their No. 2 overall pick plus good rotation players to Boston before the 2025 NBA draft actually ends up coming to pass. But does San Antonio really think that trading for the Cal alum is the move that will push them over the top and into title contention in Victor Wembanyama's third season in the league? And for the Celtics, how would such a move potentially impact their own designs on returning to contender status one star forward Jayson Tatum gets back from a torn Achilles tendon? The folks behind the "New England Sports Network" YouTube channel put together a clip from their "Hold My Banner" show to talk over the pros and cons (and likelihood) of such a move from both sides of the potential deal. Check it out below to hear what they had to say about it.
