Chinese Premier, GCC leaders depart after ASEAN-GCC, ASEAN-GCC-China Summits
SEPANG — Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states' leaders and their delegations departed for home today following the conclusion of the 2nd ASEAN-GCC Summit and the inaugural ASEAN-GCC-China Summit in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Li and his delegation boarded a special flight at 9.15 am from the Bunga Raya Complex of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). They were sent off by Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
At around 10 am, the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, also left for home aboard a special aircraft. Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali was present to bid him farewell.
Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs of Oman, Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik al Said, departed for home at 2.33 pm, sent off by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
Meanwhile, Timor-Leste Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao left at 11.50 am aboard a special aircraft, and Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad was present to see him off.
All the leaders were given a red carpet ceremonial send-off and a guard-of-honour mounted by 28 officers and personnel from the First Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment (Ceremonial).
Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in his opening remarks at the ASEAN-GCC Summit, described the gathering as exceptional in the context of Southeast Asia
Anwar highlighted the presence of ASEAN leaders alongside representatives from the GCC countries as a testament to the growing mutual trust and friendship between the two blocs.
The 46th ASEAN Summit was held on Monday under Malaysia's 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship theme 'Inclusivity and Sustainability', and it was followed by the 2nd ASEAN-GCC Summit and the inaugural ASEAN-GCC-China Summit. — BERNAMA

Video clip case: MACC calls in another Sabah politician
KOTA KINABALU: Another Sabah politician has been summoned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to give a statement at the Sabah Federal Government Administrative Complex on Monday (June 23) morning. It is learnt that the state assistant minister was called in as part of the ongoing investigation into a corruption case involving a mining prospecting scandal. A source said that the politician, who is a state assemblyman and also a Member of Parliament, arrived at the MACC office at about 9am, accompanied by two lawyers. Sabah MACC director Datuk S. Karunanithy declined to comment on the matter. Also expected to be charged is a whistleblower known as "Albert", previously linked to the circulation of video clips related to the case. The alleged offences are believed to have occurred between 2023 and last year, involving the solicitation and receipt of bribes amounting to approximately RM200,000 in connection with the processing of mineral exploration licence applications. Both individuals have since been released on MACC bail and are expected to be charged at the end of the month.

Malaysia urges Asean-OIC collaboration on Myanmar crisis

Delivering a statement at the OIC Contact Group on Rohingya Muslims of Myanmar in Istanbul, Turkiye on Sunday (June 22), Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said Malaysia is deeply concerned about the situation in Myanmar, particularly the plight of displaced Rohingyas, and stressed the need to ensure their safe, dignified and sustained return to Rakhine State. He added that it is crucial to create a safe, secure and enabling environment for the timely and effective distribution of aid to all affected communities, following the serious humanitarian crisis caused by the March 28 earthquake. "Malaysia is committed to taking a constructive approach to address the situation in Myanmar. We have identified three key priorities, which are to promote inclusive political dialogue; ensure the cessation of violence; and to scale up humanitarian assistance. "Malaysia encourages greater engagement between the OIC Member States and the stakeholders, while focusing on ending the violence, (and) alleviating the humanitarian crisis with a view of supporting peace in Myanmar,' he said. Mohamad said Malaysia, through the Asean Special Envoy, Tan Sri Othman Hashim, has intensified efforts to engage inclusively with all stakeholders; however at present, there are many stakeholders in Myanmar. He said such inclusive engagement would lay important groundwork for deeper cooperation on shared priorities, particularly in advancing humanitarian assistance. "In this regard, Malaysia would like the OIC Contact Group and our Special Envoy to identify fields of collaboration that could further complement efforts in supporting a peaceful and inclusive resolution,' he said. On the humanitarian crisis following the deadly earthquake in Myanmar, Mohamad urged all parties to move towards a more permanent ceasefire and to work collectively towards a sustainable resolution to the crisis. At present, he said the conflicting parties had announced a unilateral temporary ceasefire. "Despite these encouraging developments, funding for humanitarian efforts remains critically insufficient. "We encourage members of the OIC to continue their support for relief efforts,' he said. DPMs, Cabinet Ministers Convey Condolences Over Death Of Sarawak Premier's Wife
KUALA LUMPUR, June 23 (Bernama) – Deputy Prime Ministers and Cabinet Ministers conveyed their condolences to Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg over the death of the Sarawak Premier's wife Puan Sri Juma'ani Tuanku Bujang today. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, in a statement, described her passing as a great loss to the people of the state. He added that her loss is not only felt by her immediate family but is also mourned by the people of Sarawak, who greatly valued her contributions and service. "The Premier's late wife, whom I had the honour of knowing, was a gracious and gentle soul who was deeply committed to charitable and social work, especially in empowering women and communities in Sarawak. 'I represented the federal government this morning in visiting the Sarawak Premier's family, conveying our condolences and expressing the solidarity and prayers of all Malaysians in this time of sorrow. 'I pray that Allah will shower His mercy upon her soul, forgive all her sins, and place her among the righteous. May Abang Johari and his family be granted strength, patience and acceptance in facing this trying time,' he said. Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, in a Facebook post, expressed his condolences and described her passing as a significant loss to the people of Sarawak. "It is a great loss not only to the family of the deceased but also to the people of Sarawak. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Premier and all members of her family," he said.
