FACING TRIAL Dimitri Payet charged with 'psychological violence' against ex who accused him of forcing her to 'drink own urine'

Payet hit 15 goals in 60 Hammers appearances and was their 2015-16 player of the season.
The married dad-of-four joined Brazilian club Vasco da Gama in 2023 and went on to form a relationship with local woman Larissa.
Rio de Janeiro prosecutors allege he took advantage of her vulnerability to start the relationship, then caused her "psychological and emotional harm" including being violent.
Police initially closed their inquiry but prosecutors reopened the case after an appeal by Larissa and have now pressed charges.
Payet has been accused of causing her emotional damage through "hurtful and degrading expressions, humiliation, manipulation and mockery".
Larissa made allegations to The Sun on Sunday in April that Payet had forced her to film degrading films, drink her own urine and water from the toilet, and lick the floor.
She also claimed she had to take part in a fake wedding and wear a ring to 'prove her love'.
Payet is said to have told Brazilian police everything between him and Larissa was consensual.

Documents from the country's Public Ministry say the couple met online and shared a mutual interest in sexual relations involving "acts of daringness and violence".
The official report stated Larissa suffered depression as a result of Payet's behaviour towards her.

Her lawyers said: "This measure shows that the authorities are aware of the seriousness of the facts.
"They are minded to make sure that behaviours that harm women's dignity do not go unpunished - no matter how high-profile the suspect may be."
The footballer, whose Vasco contract was torn up earlier this month, could have to pay a huge fine and the costs of Larissa's medical treatment if the accusations against him are found to be true.
Payet's lawyer Sheila Lustoza said: "I'm surprised the case has been reopened, as it is based on information that was already out there.
"But I am confident that the legal system will recognise my client's innocence."
Payet left West Ham for Marseille in a £25million deal in January 2017 after falling out of favour with Hammers fans.
The set-piece expert, who has 38 caps, pushed for a transfer after claiming he was homesick.

Pavel Durov: Telegram founder says he has fathered more than 100 children

The multi-billionaire founder of instant messaging app Telegram, Pavel Durov, says he has fathered more than 100 children."The clinic, where I started donating sperm 15 years ago to help a friend, told me that more than 100 babies had been conceived this way in 12 countries," Mr Durov told French political magazine Le Durov, who says he is the "official father" of six other children with three different partners, added that all of his offspring will share his estimated $13.9bn (£10.3bn) also reiterated that he denies any wrongdoing in connection with serious criminal charges he faces in France. "They are all my children and will all have the same rights! I don't want them to tear each other apart after my death," Mr Durov the self-exiled Russian technology tycoon told the magazine that none of his children would have access to their inheritance for 30 years."I want them to live like normal people, to build themselves up alone, to learn to trust themselves, to be able to create, not to be dependent on a bank account," he 40-year-old said he had written a will now because his job "involves risks – defending freedoms earns you many enemies, including within powerful states".His app, Telegram, known for its focus on privacy and encrypted messaging, has more than a billion monthly active users. Mr Durov also addressed criminal charges he faces in France, where he was arrested last year after being accused of failing to properly moderate the app to reduce criminality. He has denied failing to cooperate with law enforcement over drug trafficking, child sexual abuse content and fraud. Telegram has previously denied having insufficient the Le Point interview he described the charges as "totally absurd"."Just because criminals use our messaging service among many others doesn't make those who run it criminals," he added.

First football, now Fifa wants to be a global fashion brand

F orget this season's kit, with your favourite player's number on the back and a sponsor's logo splashed across the front; Fifa is heading for Paris Fashion Week. Yes, the tastemakers of, erm, football's governing body are behind a new clothing line. FIFA 1904, so named for the year Fifa was founded, celebrates the heritage of an organisation with its own Netflix documentary — although that focused more on the 24-year run of corruption in the organisation that ended in whistleblowing and FBI arrests. FIFA 1904 is being designed by the ex-Fenty design director Marcus Clayton and will be shown during Paris's menswear shows this month. The nexus between fashion and football is expanding and these days the world's biggest stars parlay their international profiles into lucrative sponsorship deals with fashion houses, including David Beckham modelling undies on billboards for Hugo Boss and Emporio Armani, Spain's Héctor Bellerin on the Louis Vuitton catwalk and America's Megan Rapinoe for Loewe. Last September, Arsenal's Declan Rice walked the Labrum catwalk during London Fashion Week at the Emirates Stadium, where Rice usually plays as a midfielder.
