Will Tyrese Haliburton play in Game 6 of NBA Finals?
INDIANAPOLIS -- Pacers All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton will be available for Game 6 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder despite a right calf strain.
The Thunder lead the series 3-2 heading into Thursday's 8:30 p.m. game in Gainbridge Fieldhouse and have a chance to clinch the series.
"Tyrese will play," Rick Carlisle opened his pregame news conference. "He was strength-tested at 5 p.m., and did very well. Went through walk-through. there's no set minutes limit, but we will watch and monitor things very closely."
Haliburton suffered the injury when he stumbled trying to drive to the rim in the first quarter of Monday's Game 5. He remained in the game and played 34 minutes but scored just four points and missed all six of his field goal attempts. He had an MRI on Tuesday and acknowledged on Wednesday it showed a calf strain, but said, "I'm a competitor. I want to play. I'm going to do everything in my power to play." He said he expected to do around-the-clock treatment on his leg until game time.
Carlisle said Wednesday that Haliburton's status would be a game-time decision.

Haliburton earned third-team All-NBA honors for the second straight season in 2024-25, averaging 18.6 points and 9.2 assists per game and leading all NBA players with at least 50 appearances in assist-to-turnover ratio at 5.61. In the playoffs, he's averaging 17.9 points and 9.1 assists per game, the highest figure of any player in the playoffs. He's hit dramatic game-winning or game-tying shots in each of the Pacers' four historically improbable comeback wins in the postseason — victories over the Bucks in Game 5 of the first round, the Cavs in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, the Knicks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals and the Thunder in Game 1 of the Finals.

Maple Leafs Named Possible Threat to Steal Brad Marchand
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Brad Marchand and the Florida Panthers were able to win their second straight Stanley Cup Final this week, knocking off the Edmonton Oilers in Game 6 to take the series. In what was another magical run, the Panthers capped off an impressive all-around season. Despite facing some adversity, Florida was able to avoid going to a winner-take-all Game 7 against the Oilers like they did last season. As for Marchand, he was not playing for Florida last season. However, it was also his second championship. He won his first Stanley Cup Final back in 2011 with the Boston Bruins. Brad Marchand #63 of the Florida Panthers looks to pass against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first period of Game One of the First Round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs at the Amalie Arena on April 22, 2025 in Tampa, Florida. More Photo byPrior to joining the Panthers this season, Marchand had played the first 16 years of his career with the Bruins. It was strange to see him playing elsewhere, but the move worked out well for him. Read more: Bruins Emerging as Potential Suitor to Steal Connor McDavid Now, the question becomes, where will the 37-year-old center be playing next season? Entering the NHL offseason, Marchand is a free agent. Many believe that he will simply re-sign with Florida, but that is not a guarantee at this point in time. Sports Illustrated's Karl Rasmussen has taken a look at potential free agency fits for Marchand. One name that was brought up as a potential suitor was the Toronto Maple Leafs. With Mitch Marner potentially on his way out of town in free agency, the Maple Leafs could look to replace him with Marchand. "The Maple Leafs could see Mitch Marner make for the exit door in free agency, and Marchand may be a suitable replacement," Rasmussen wrote. "He comes with a bevy of postseason experience and two Stanley Cup championships. That type of leadership and experience could be exactly what Toronto needs to get over the hump." Read more: Stanley Cup Finals 2025: Panthers Win, Become First Back-to-Back Champs Since 2021 During the 2024-25 NHL season, the Maple Leafs finished the regular season with a 52-26-4 record. They were able to knock off the Ottawa Senators in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs in six games. Unfortunately, Toronto saw its season come to an end at the hands of Marchand and the Panthers in the second round. While the mostly likely scenario for Marchand is simply re-signing with Florida, he could receive outside interest. The Maple Leafs would make a lot of sense as a possible destination if he does open up to offers from other teams outside of the Panthers. For more NHL and sports news, head to Newsweek Sports.

Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier Lead Early WNBA All-Star Game Fan-Voting
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has an early lead in the fan voting for next month's WNBA All-Star Game, the league announced Friday. The second-year guard received 515,993 votes. Clark was followed by Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier, who garnered 484,758 votes. There were three other Indiana players in the top 10 with Aliyah Boston third, Kelsey Mitchell seventh and Lexie Hull ninth. This year's game will be played in Indiana on July 19. Three-time league MVP A'ja Wilson of Las Vegas and Breanna Stewart of the defending-champion New York Liberty were fourth and fifth in the balloting, respectively. The two were the captains for the All-Star Game in 2022 and 2023. Sabrina Ionescu, Stewart's teammate, was eighth, while rookies Paige Bueckers of Dallas, in sixth, and Kiki Iriafen of Washington, in 10th, rounded out the top 10. Bueckers was the first-overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, out of UConn. Fan voting ends on June 28 and accounts for 50% of the overall vote. Current players and a media panel each account for 25%. The top four guards and six frontcourt players with the best overall score between the three groups are honored as starters for the All-Star Game. The league's coaches choose the 12 reserve players. The vote totals matter beyond any bragging rights they give a player, as the two starters who receive the most fan votes will be the captains of the game and choose their All-Star teams, with the results announced on July 8. This year's contest will have the traditional format of two teams playing against each other. Last season was a matchup of the USA Olympic team playing against an All-Star team.
