Major update on probe into slaying of Ireland based dad and daughter in Iceland

Police in Iceland investigating the fatal stabbings of an Irish-based French dad and daughter found dead in a Reykjavik hotel room are gathering information from mobile phones and surveying CCTV videos to try and shed a light on what happened.
A French woman, who is the wife of the man and mother of the daughter, was arrested and remains in custody in hospital as she is being treated for stab wounds.
Her condition is stable and according to Icelandic media, she is able to speak. The family had French citizenship but had been living in Ireland in recent years.
The woman, aged in her late 50s, her husband, who was also in his late 50s, and their daughter, who was around 30 years of age, had travelled from Dublin to the Icelandic capital Reykjavik on Saturday 7 June.
They were due to fly back to Dublin last Saturday, June 14. However, the husband and daughter's bodies were discovered that morning in the hotel room.
A staff member at the Edition hotel had alerted Icelandic police to the 'serious incident.'
A police report states the French woman has been remanded in custody at a hospital by the Reykjavik District Court until Friday, June 20 on the basis of investigative interests at the request of the Metropolitan Police in the interest of their investigation into the two deaths.
Police say that the period of detention may be extended for another week when she appears in court again.
'No further information can be provided at this time,' the police report states.
According to local reports, the bodies of the father and daughter were found on the fourth floor of the hotel. They had both sustained stab wounds.
The woman in her 50s was found alive and had also sustained stab wounds.
She was brought to Landspitali University Hospital, the main national hospital which is located in the capital.

Conor McGregor Ibiza punch eyewitnesses recall what they saw in nightclub

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Eyewitnesses have recalled the events that unfolded after footage emerged appearing to show Conor McGregor throwing punches inside an Ibiza nightclub. In the early hours of Tuesday, at Pacha nightclub, The Sun released footage that allegedly showed McGregor appearing to peer down to address an unidentified man in the middle of the dancefloor. Merely moments later, the 36-year-old Irishman appears to throw two punches. The partygoer hit the deck, and onlookers have since come forward to recount their version of the alleged incident. One individual - who saw the whole thing - claimed there did not appear to be any consequences for the former dual-weight UFC champion. "Clearly something's been said to annoy him and he's reacted very badly. The guy seemed to fall to the floor, and his mates came to pick him up and get him away," he told The Sun. "There [didn't appear to be any] consequences for Conor." Another said: "About five people fell to the floor as the guy stumbled back. It was a bit like bowling pins, but the guy was really shaken." They added: "About a minute later, the bouncers came and got him on the back and took him out of the club, because he had annoyed Conor. It was right before close anyway. There was no messing around; they just removed him. Conor left through the garden a bit later; he didn't look very happy." The confrontation occurred just hours after McGregor was spotted on the island with TV personality Katie Price. The UFC star was wearing red shorts, a cap, and sunglasses, and puffing on a cigar. Price shared a photo of the two on her Instagram, captioning it: "You legend," after McGregor tagged her in his own story and wrote: "Forever." Tottenham defender and Austria international Kevin Danso also posted a picture with the former dual-weight UFC champion. Following the alleged incident, McGregor posted a series of updates on social media. On X (formerly Twitter), he wrote: "You won't speak bad about my country and its people and that's ever. Vote McGregor." A few hours later, he shared several photos of himself on Instagram, including one with a group of men and another of himself underneath a photo of Al Pacino from the 1983 film Scarface. It is not the first time McGregor has lost his temper whilst partying in Ibiza. Three years ago, he stamped on a fan's hat after a fan threw it towards him asked for him to sign it while he was celebrating his 34th birthday. McGregor gave the individual a sarcastic thumbs up before throwing insults at the fan. McGregor hasn't stepped into the Octagon since his defeat to long-standing adversary Dustin Poirier back in 2021. He was due to make his UFC comeback last year against Michael Chandler, but had to pull out due to an injury sustained during training. Whether or not the Irish fighter will return to competitive action remains uncertain. However, he has dropped hints of a potential comeback by posting several training videos over recent weeks. Irish tourist rages 'I'll break your f*****g balls' as locals applaud police

A "drunken" Irish tourist who was arrested on the Spanish holiday island of Majorca on Wednesday was bundled into the back of a police car after threatening to kick her arresting officer 'in the f*****g balls'. The 25-year-old could be heard screaming: 'If you break my watch I'll break your f*****g balls' as she was pinned to the patrol car and her hands brought behind her back. A split-second later she lashed out backwards with her right foot as she aimed a violent kick towards the testicles of the officer cuffing her. Local shopkeepers and other shocked bystanders watching the dramatic scene broke into a spontaneous round of applause as the out-of-control tourist was forced into the back seat of the police car. The arrest occurred on Wednesday evening in the east coast Majorcan resort of s'Illot in the municipality of Sant Llorenc des Cardassar near to the Love Island villa where filming is currently going on. Local officials said about the female holidaymaker's arrest in a statement, describing her as a 25-year-old Irish passport holder: 'The local Sant Llorenc des Cardassar police have arrested a woman for allegedly assaulting pedestrians, disturbing public order and causing damage to a police vehicle.' They added: 'Officers arrested the woman, a 25-year-old Irishwoman, on Wednesday evening after she was involved in acts of extreme aggressiveness in public in the tourist resort of s'Illot. 'Things began with an alert that a woman, who was apparently drunk and very upset, was causing disturbances inside a restaurant and assaulting customers. When officers arrived, they found the woman in the middle of the street, insulting and blocking pedestrians for no apparent reason. 'During their intervention, she displayed an extremely violent and defiant attitude, even assaulting the officers, who had to reduce her and proceed to arrest her for alleged crimes of gross disobedience, resistance and assaulting police. During the transfer to the police station, the detainee managed to put her hands in front of her and started to hit the glass of the police vehicle partition screen hard, causing visible damage to it. 'Officers were forced to immobilize her to avoid further damage or possible injury. Once at the police station, the woman continued with a hostile attitude, which led to medical emergency services being activated. Finally, she had to be sedated by a medical team due to the risk she posed to herself and to the police officers.'
