Advanced passenger processing system now captures photos before passport checks
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is rolling out new technology at the start of summer travel for those visiting or returning to the land of the free.
"Enhanced passenger processing" alerts CBP officers to passengers' details before those travelers even get to a passport check by using automatic photo-capturing technology.
Fox News Digital reached out to CBP with questions regarding the specific details that might be shared with officials.
CBP Acting Executive Assistant Commissioner Diane Sabatino said in a press release the department is "committed to enhancing national security while streamlining lawful travel."
"By leveraging advanced technologies and mobile applications, we are transforming inspections at airports into a seamless, touchless process, enabling faster risk identification and efficient processing of legitimate visitors," Sabatino added.
Enhanced passenger processing is currently available at 10 U.S. airports and one international location.
It can be found at John F. Kennedy International Airport, Orlando International Airport, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Denver International Airport, Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Cross Border Xpress, Chicago O'Hare International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, and Dublin Airport.
There are discussions about introducing the technology to 10 additional locations, with one launching at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport next month.
CBP officials processed over 420 million travelers at ports of entry in fiscal year 2024, marking a 6.6% increase from the previous year, according to CBP.
Global Entry members can use "Seamless Border Entry" technology, which provides a touchless experience for flyers "on the move" by auto-capturing photos.
The technology "allows Global Entry members to move through the inspection process seamlessly with minimal interaction with a CBP officer, depending on officer discretion," the release said.
Seamless border entry's eighth and final location is set to open at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport this month.

Each setting brought out relaxed conversations, as well as some interesting questions from Hart and 'The Shop' panel to Wembanyama. Both forums focused on the curiosity about Wembanyama's trip to China. He tried to be casual about it with 'The Shop,' saying, 'I was just in China the last two weeks practicing with the monks.' Many in the panel from 'The Shop' chimed in, not letting the 'oh, by the way' answer slide, including Brady, who said, 'We've got to hear more on that.' Wembanyama laughed and obliged. He visited the Shaolin Temple in Dengfeng, China, along with a member of the Spurs' strength training staff. 'It was a great experience,' Wembanyama said. 'My goal going there was putting my body through things that it's not used to doing and allowing my range of movement and strength. This was probably as very different as possible from what I'm used to doing.' What did that entail? 'Kung fu. Everyday. It was like a vegan temple, monastery. … I was isolated,' Wembanyama said. He added that many of the meals consisted of zucchini and rice noodles. That meant sneaking out to eat some sort of meat to maintain his weight, which he told Hart is up to 245 pounds. The most notable physical change from the trip for Wembanyama is his hairstyle. The first thing the monks asked Wembanyama to do was to shave his head. He did so without hesitation. 'I'm pretty sure I'm Buddhist now,' Wembanyama joked. 'It was worth it.' Wembanyama didn't discuss his injury status after a blood clot in his right shoulder ended his 2024-25 season in February. It's expected he'll be ready for the start of this upcoming season, though. Advertisement It's also the first time Wembanyama has spoken publicly about Gregg Popovich leaving the bench as the Spurs' coach. Wembanyama admitted he was shocked when Popovich stepped down in early May after 29 seasons as the team's mentor. He moved to a front office position with Mitch Johnson taking over Popovich's former role. 'First of all, the person,' Wembanyama said. 'We were all really close. We all have really good relationships between the teammates and him. It's always sad and shocking when something like this happens. What's incredible with him is that he keeps giving hope being the person that he is. He keeps inspiring us. Because the way he works, he works harder than most athletes in the world.' Maybe it was random for Hart to ask Wembanyama if he's a big Kevin Durant fan, to which the Spurs center replied, 'That's right.' Or maybe it wasn't, given the Spurs rank among the top teams that the Suns forward, who turns 37 in September, would prefer to be traded to before next season. Wembanyama said Durant's game has inspired him all of his life, but Hart and Wembanyama stopped short of a sales pitch to keep the conversation tamper-free.

U.S. has begun evacuations of Americans from Israel, Huckabee says
The U.S. Department of State has begun assisted departure flights from Israel, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said on X Saturday. "If you are a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident currently in Israel or the West Bank and seeking U.S. government assistance to depart, please complete this form so the Department of State can better assist you and provide you with timely updates: Huckabee wrote. "If you have only completed the crisis intake form, please do not fill it out again." His announcement comes days after confusion about whether the U.S. government would be assisting American citizens evacuating from Israel. Huckabee said on June 18, the sixth day of the Israel-Iran war, that the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem was assisting U.S. citizens with evacuation flights and cruise ship departures, only for the State Department to say later that day they had "no announcement about assisting private U.S. citizens to depart at this time." The following day, the U.S. Embassy sent a message to Americans who had enrolled in the State Department's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) that the State Department was "planning for contingencies to assist with private U.S. citizens' departure from Israel. We will alert the U.S. citizen community if there is additional information to share regarding departure options," the embassy said. "It asked Americans in Israel interested in leaving the country to fill out an online form." The U.S. State Department has also placed Israel under a Level 4 travel advisory, telling Americans not to travel there due to "armed conflict, terrorism and civil unrest." Ben Gurion International Airport, Israel's major airport, is currently closed and several commercial airlines have paused flights from Israel to the United States. In the meantime, Americans in Israel organized evacuations via other measures. Birthright Israel said in a statement to CBS News that the organization evacuated approximately 1,500 program participants aboard the Crown Iris, a luxury Israeli cruise ship operated by Mano Maritime, sailing from Ashdod Port to Larnaca, Cyprus. Charter flights from Tel Aviv, organized by not-for-profits and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, carrying hundreds of Americans evacuating the Middle East landed in Tampa, Florida, on Friday. Others decided to exit through the border with Jordan and take a car to the capital of Amman and fly from there to the United States, one parent with a child studying in Israel told CBS News. Warren Cohen, an American who was in Israel on a business trip when the fighting broke out, told CBS News he thinks the U.S. should be doing more to help get its citizens home. "Mr. President, please bring me home to my family. I'm your neighbor in Mar-a-Largo and I really want to go see my wife and kids," he said. As tensions with Iran intensified since the start of the conflict, missile strikes in both countries have led to at least 657 people being killed, including 263 civilians, in Iran, the Washington-based group Health Rights Activist told the AP. At least 24 people in Israel have been killed, Israeli officials say. Strikes on Friday wounded 23 people in the northern part of Israel, emergency services Magen David Adom said. A U.S. State Department spokesperson confirmed to CBS News on Saturday that "several" U.S. citizens were 'lightly wounded' due to an Iranian missile strike.
