Schools in Chhattisgarh to run morning shifts from June 17–21 due to extreme heat

RAIPUR: In response to the ongoing heatwaves across several regions of Chhattisgarh, the state government has revised school timings for a week from June 17 to 21.
As per the directive issued by the School Education Department, all government and private schools will now function from 7.00 a.m.

to 11.00 a.m. -- a precautionary measure to protect students from the harsh midday sun.
Regular school hours will resume from June 23 onward.
Amid this weather-conscious adjustment, the new academic session officially began on June 16 with a vibrant start across the state. Schools reopened with the celebration of the "Shala Pravesh Utsav (School Admission Festival)", marked by warm welcomes, sweets, and cheerful ceremonies.
At various schools in Raipur, teachers greeted students with a 'tilak' and distributed sweets, setting a festive tone for the year ahead. Similar scenes unfolded in Bilaspur, Jagdalpur, Raigarh, Durg, and Bhilai, where educators embraced returning students with enthusiasm.
Raipur District Education Officer Vijay Khandelwal announced that the admission festival will continue with block-level events on June 18 and a district-level celebration at a Girls' School on June 20.
These events aim to boost enrollment and ensure that no child is left behind at the start of the academic year.
The state government has also made significant strides in school rationalisation. Previously, 212 primary and 48 pre-secondary schools operated without a single teacher. Additionally, over 7,000 schools were functioning with only one teacher. Through a comprehensive restructuring effort, the government has now ensured that every school in Chhattisgarh has at least one teacher.

Meanwhile, 166 underutilised schools have been merged, and institutions with zero student enrollment have been reassessed.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, who welcomed new students in schools through a message on his X handle on Monday, emphasised the state's commitment to achieving 100 per cent literacy.
In a letter to education officials, he reiterated the goal of reducing the school dropout rate to zero by Class 12, in line with the National Education Policy 2020. He also launched the "Mukhyamantri Shiksha Gunvatta Abhiyan (Quality Campaign)", aimed at enhancing learning outcomes in government schools.

The panel's terms of reference include addressing 'specific difficulties of HEIs to be brought under HECI's purview so that appropriate clarifications may be issued,' and analysing 'regulatory protocols of different statutory bodies and recommending applicable protocols for HEIs to become multidisciplinary institutions.' It is also tasked with proposing ' mechanisms in view of HECI' for funding and technical support systems, and to 'suggest organisational structure of Standards Councils,' while ensuring that statutory bodies continue to lay down academic standards and coordinate between teaching and research.

2,700 teachers recruited to fill vacancies in Tamil Nadu government schools

Nearly 2,700 teachers have been recruited through the Teachers Recruitment Board this year to fill vacancies in government schools across Tamil Nadu. Posting orders will be issued shortly, said B. Chandra Mohan, Principal Secretary to Government, School Education Department, on Saturday. Addressing the media, he also highlighted the State government's continued investment in upgrading school infrastructure. Over the past four years, ₹4,000 crore has been spent under the Professor Anbazhagan School Infrastructure Development Scheme to replace dilapidated school buildings. For the current year, ₹1,000 crore will be allocated for schools in rural areas and ₹130 crore for those in urban areas. He was speaking after inaugurating four new classrooms at the Government Higher Secondary School in Arasampalayam, Coimbatore. The facility was constructed with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support from Sri Krishna Sweets. Mr. Chandra Mohan reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring uninterrupted education for all students. 'The government provides free textbooks, uniforms, footwear, breakfast, and noon meals to remove barriers to learning,' he said. Jashpur (Chhattisgarh) [India] June 21 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has announced the launch of the Chief Minister Bus Service Scheme on Saturday. The Chief Minister emphasised that the state government has made provisions for the bus service scheme in the budget and has instructed collectors in every district, especially in Bastar and Sarguja divisions, to identify routes that require bus services. The scheme will focus on routes where there is a demand but no existing bus services. Addressing the reporters, CM Vishnu Deo Sai said, 'Chief Minister Bus Service Scheme has been started and its provision has also been made in the budget and in every district, and especially in Bastar and Sarguja divisions, we have instructed the collectors to choose such routes where there is movement of people but there is no bus operation... CM Sai also said that the government will compensate for the losses incurred by operating buses on these routes, similar to how the government supports flights on this route (Raipur to Jagdalpur) with low passenger. 'The government will compensate for this. The Prime Minister said that even a person wearing slippers will travel by air, so just like a flight is running from Raipur to Sarguja, similarly, a flight is also running from Raipur to Jagdalpur. There are not many passengers there, so the government compensates for this. So we will do the same for buses as well.', CM Sai stated. Earlier, in a significant push for development in the Bastar region, the Chhattisgarh government announced the revival of the Bodhghat irrigation project under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. The project, planned on the Indravati River in Dantewada district, aims to provide permanent irrigation and generate electricity for the rural areas of Dantewada, Bijapur, and Sukma districts. The ambitious project, which will come up at an estimated cost of around Rs 49,000 crore, is expected to transform agricultural prospects and boost economic activity across the region. 'If a farmer's land, house, or agricultural area comes in the submergence area, the government will compensate for it... Therefore, the farmers should not oppose this scheme because it will be a big scheme for Chhattisgarh,' he added. Local businessman Narendra Nag highlighted the potential benefits for the regional economy. He told ANI, '... This could be a good initiative if the government implements this project honestly. This will provide electricity to the entire region, employment will increase, there is also a plan for fisheries, and the area under irrigation will increase...
