Five things to watch for in Week 10 of the 2025 UFL season
Keeping MVP frontrunner and DC Defenders quarterback Jordan Ta'amu upright will be at the top of the priority list for interim head coach Shannon Harris as his team enters the final weekend of the 2025 UFL regular season.
"I may pull him a lot sooner than last week just to keep him in rhythm a little bit and give him some quick reads — things like that where he's not holding onto the ball," Harris said. "That's the biggest thing. We want to make sure we keep him in a rhythm and don't get stale."
Harris said the plan last week was to get second-string quarterback Mike DiLiello some live reps while also maintaining Ta'amu's timing and rhythm with the starters by giving him the first half of playing time.
With the St. Louis Battlehawks and Defenders meeting again next weekend in the XFL Conference title game, Harris chose to keep Ta'amu on the sidelines by starting DiLiello for the final game of the regular season. Ta'amu currently leads the UFL in passing yards (2,153) and passing touchdowns (17), with just four interceptions this year.

The Battlehawks (7-2) and the Defenders (6-3) kick off Week 10 on Friday (8 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports app). The Michigan Panthers (6-3) host the Houston Roughnecks (4-5) In the lone game on Saturday (3 p.m. ET).
In Sunday's doubleheader, the Arlington Renegades (4-5) face the San Antonio Brahmas (1-8) on the road (noon ET), followed by the Birmingham Stallions (6-3) taking on the Memphis Showboats (2-7) to close things out (3 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports app).
Here's a closer look at five things to watch for in Week 10: 1. QB Mike DiLiello to start for Defenders
The Austin Peay product went 17-for-29 for 207 yards and a touchdown in the Defenders' surprising loss to the Roughnecks last week. Now, DiLiello gets his first start, with Spencer Sanders serving as the backup and Ta'amu as the emergency No. 3 quarterback.
Along with Ta'amu, the Defenders will rest a handful of other regular starters for the playoffs, including wide receiver Cornell Powell, linebacker Anthony Hines, pass rusher Derek Roberson and cornerback Bryce Thompson.
On the other side, St. Louis head coach Anthony Becht will play most of his starters, including QB Max Duggan. 2. Siaosi Mariner surprises as UFL receiving yards leader
Under the radar this season, Mariner tops the UFL in receiving yards with 527 on 31 receptions and a score. His 17 yards per reception is the fourth-best mark in the league.
Houston's Justin Hall leads the league with 58 receptions, while Powell is tops in receiving touchdowns with seven.
Vying for the league lead in rushing yards is St. Louis' Jacob Saylors, whose 499 yards is tops in the UFL ahead of Week 10. San Antonio's Jashaun Corbin (459 yards) is second, while Deon Jackson (419 yards) is third. 3. Stallions peaking at the right time
The defending UFL champions started the season scuffling at 3-2 but have won three of their last four games and are peaking at the right time. Part of the improved play has been the return of J'Mar Smith, who has stabilized the quarterback position and the entire offense because of his experience in head coach Skip Holtz's scheme.
It's also taken some time for Birmingham's new roster to gel and deal with injury concerns, according to Holtz. "I call them the intangible things," he said. "They're the things you can't measure — where your motivation is, where your attitude is, where your passion or desire, you're why.
"It's the intangible things that make championship teams, and I think that's one of the things that this team has done a good job of as we've gone through the season. It was very hard at the beginning of the season because 50% of our team is new, so we had to teach a new culture." 4. UFL announces Sportsman of the Year Award nominees
This week, the UFL announced eight nominees for the 2025 UFL Sportsman of the Year. The nominees are Seth Green (Renegades), Barry Wesley (Stallions), Chris Rowland (Defenders), Leon O'Neal Jr. (Roughnecks), Jaylon Allen (Showboats), Ryan Nelson (Panthers), Steven Stillianos (Brahmas) and Trave Feeney (Battlehawks).
The award goes to the player who best exemplifies the league's core values by demonstrating excellence on the field and a deep commitment to community service off the field. The winner will be announced at the 2025 UFL Championship Game in St. Louis on June 15.
One of the top runners in the UFL last season, Lovett returns for San Antonio's last game of the year after landing on IR with an undisclosed injury earlier this season.
In other UFL roster moves, the Roughnecks signed pass rusher Lonnie Phelps after he was released by San Antonio earlier this season.

NBA Legend Makes Strong Caitlin Clark Statement During Fever Season
NBA Legend Makes Strong Caitlin Clark Statement During Fever Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Kevin Garnett knows what it takes to compete every night. The NBA legend played from 1995 to 2016 with the Timberwolves, Celtics and Nets. Before his pro career, Garnett was a dominant force at Admiral Farragut Academy in Chicago. Advertisement Known as one of the league's toughest players, Garnett constantly dealt with opponents who tried to challenge him, both physically and verbally. Now, 'The Big Ticket' has weighed in on WNBA star Caitlin Clark, who's in her second season with the Indiana Fever. Speaking on KG Certified, Garnett shared his thoughts: "It's a privilege to be a in a position where others are hating on you. When others are hating on you it means you're doing something right." Garnett finished his career with 26,071 points and 14,662 rebounds. He won an NBA title in 2008, earned league MVP honors in 2004 and made 15 all-star appearances. He was the 2008 Defensive Player of the Year and led the league in rebounding four times. Advertisement While Clark plays a very different game than Garnett, the former Iowa star is already carving out a legacy. She's faced intense physical play as teams try to disrupt her rhythm, but she continues to rise. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22).© Darren Yamashita-Imagn Images In 47 WNBA games, Clark is averaging 19.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game. She's coming off one of her tougher outings, shooting just 21.4% from the field with six turnovers in a loss to the Golden State Valkyries. The Fever remain on the road, heading to Las Vegas and Seattle before returning home. Despite some growing pains, Clark is proving she belongs among the league's best. Clippers' trade proposal for Kevin Durant as rumors ramp up
The post Clippers' trade proposal for Kevin Durant as rumors ramp up appeared first on ClutchPoints. Rumors involving Kevin Durant and his inevitable trade are starting to ramp up. The Minnesota Timberwolves, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Miami Heat, and New York Knicks appear to be Durant's most likely landing spots, with the former team reportedly being the most aggressive pursuer. Advertisement However, reports suggest that Durant doesn't want to play in Minnesota, and the Spurs, Rockets, and Heat aren't offering the Phoenix Suns a big enough package. This means that Durant very well may end up with a sleeper team. So could the Los Angeles Clippers make a deal for Durant? Clippers' possible trade package for Kevin Durant Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports Clippers receive: Kevin Durant Suns receive: Norman Powell, Cam Christie, Kobe Brown, Drew Eubanks, Bogdan Bogdanovic, 2029 first-round pick (outside of top three), 2031 first-round pick The Western Conference is stacked. Despite losing in the first round of the playoffs, the Clippers had a great season that exceeded a lot of expectations after they let Paul George walk in free agency. Advertisement Kawhi Leonard and James Harden are still among the best players in the NBA when they are healthy, and Norman Powell and Ivica Zubac had breakout seasons that led the Clippers to earn the five-seed. Los Angeles can't stand pat if they are to keep up with the rest of the conference, though, especially considering Cooper Flagg is bound for the Dallas Mavericks, and the Milwaukee Bucks could trade Giannis Antetokounmpo out West. Durant is one of the biggest names on the trade block, and the Clippers should consider trading for him. Durant is a former MVP and a 15-time All-Star. He is 36 years old, but he hasn't really shown any signs of slowing down. The former No. 2 overall pick averaged 26.6 points per game this past season and is still one of the best three-level scorers in the NBA. He is on the trade block because the Suns haven't been able to make the big three of him, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal work. The Suns shopped Durant ahead of the trade deadline, but a deal never came to fruition. Advertisement Durant would form a new big three with the Clippers with even more talent than the one he had in Phoenix. Durant has already teamed up with Harden with both the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Brooklyn Nets, so everybody knows they can work together. Their relationship doesn't seem to be fractured despite Harden's rocky end in Brooklyn, either. What could scare the Clippers off is that they are still suffering the repercussions of going all in for a superstar wing with versatility. Los Angeles traded tons of draft capital and a player who'd eventually become the MVP in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander when they dealt for George. A Durant trade won't cost as much, but they'd still be giving up valuable draft capital and solid rotation pieces/depth. The 2029 and 2031 NBA Drafts are a ways out, and considering the Clippers have an older core, the picks that they are giving away could end up becoming premium picks by the time they'd convey to the Suns. Where will Kevin Durant be traded? The Clippers have a decent trade package to offer the Suns. Powell averaged 21.8 points per game in a season where he was in the running for the Most Improved Player award. Advertisement Bogdan Bogdanovic also has a proven track record as a scorer. The Serbian is one of the best bench scorers in the NBA. Even Cam Christie and Kobe Brown are developmental options that could break out on a rebuilding team, which the Suns may become after dealing Durant. However, the Clippers don't have the biggest trade package to offer. Teams such as the Spurs and Rockets have a bunch of draft picks and young players that they could use in a trade. While their offers may be underwhelming as of now, the Suns may eventually have to agree to one of their trade proposals because their relationship with Durant has already soured. The Suns may also go against Durant's wishes and trade him to a spot that he doesn't necessarily want to go to. This could be risky for a trading team because Durant only has one more year on his contract, but he has already vetoed trades to the Golden State Warriors and now the Timberwolves. The Spurs, Rockets, and Heat are atop Durant's wish list as of now. The Suns may grow tired of his pickiness, or Durant may have a change of heart in terms of where he is willing to end up. Either way, a Durant trade seems inevitable, and a good chunk of the league will be in on the pursuit of the Texas product.
