'Shocked and disappointed': Foo Fighters drummer Josh Freese says band fired him, Entertainment News
Foo Fighters drummer Josh Freese claims he has been fired from the band.
The 52-year-old rocker - who joined the group in 2023 after the death of Taylor Hawkins - said he was "shocked and disappointed" to be giving his marching orders.
He wrote on Instagram: "The Foo Fighters called me Monday night to let me know they've decided 'to go in a different direction with their drummer.' No reason was given. :( Regardless, I enjoyed the past two years with them, both on and off stage, and I support whatever they feel is best for the band.
"In my 40 years of drumming professionally, I've never been let go from a band, so while I'm not angry - just a bit shocked and disappointed.
"But as most of you know I've always worked freelance and bounced between bands so, I'm fine. Stay tuned for my 'Top 10 possible reasons Josh got booted from the Foo Fighters' list."

Freese joined the group - comprised of Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett and Rami Jaffee - in May 2023.
His appointment was revealed during a livestream featuring cameos from other famous drummers including Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith and Tommy Lee of Mötley Crue.
He had previously played drums for Sting, Nine Inch Nails, Weezer and Guns N' Roses.
Taylor was just 50 years old when he passed away on March 25, 2022 in Bogotá, Colombia, where the Foo Fighters were set to perform later that evening.

BTS member Suga discharged from South Korean military service
K-pop group BTS member Suga finished his military tenure as a social service agent on June 21. PHOTO: AGUSTD/INSTAGRAM SEOUL - K-pop group BTS member Suga was discharged from the South Korean military on June 21 , the seventh and final member to complete the country's mandatory national service amid expectations of the band's comeback from a hiatus. Suga finished his military tenure as a social service agent on June 21 with little fanfare as fans looked forward to his reunion with the rest of the band, a K-pop sensation since it started up in 2013. 'We confirm that Suga effectively completed his alternative service on June 18 by using his remaining leave. His official discharge date is June 21,' BTS' label, Big Hit Music, said in a statement. Unlike with his BTS bandmates, there was no public event planned to mark Suga's release because of overcrowding concerns. The seven members of the group put their global music careers on hold in 2022 to begin their military service, starting with Jin in December that year. South Korea's mandatory national service can be for terms of up to 18 months. Shortly after his official discharge, Suga posted a message on fan community platform Weverse, saying he was 'sorry for the disappointment and concern caused by what happened last year', and also apologising to his bandmates. In 2024, Suga was fined 15 million won (S$14,037) by a court for drunk driving while on an electric scooter. The group is expected to hold its largest-ever world tour in 2026, an NH Securities entertainment analyst said in a report. Entertainment group HYBE, which manages BTS, is closely monitored by securities companies. Details of a reunion have not been released. Jun 8, 2025; Paris, FR; Jannik Sinner of Italy returns a shot during the men's singles final against Carlos Alcaraz of Spain on day 15 at Roland Garros Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Susan Mullane-Imagn Images/File Photo REUTERS Sinner and singer Bocelli strike up partnership for new single World number one Jannik Sinner has formed a new doubles partnership but the duo will be battling for chart success rather than Grand Slam titles after the Italian released a single with compatriot and opera tenor Andrea Bocelli on Friday. The three-time Grand Slam champion Sinner promoted the song titled 'Polvere e Gloria' or 'Dust and Glory' on Instagram. The video features footage from the pair's childhoods and more recent clips of the singer and Sinner, clutching a racket and tennis ball, in front of a piano in Bocelli's home in Tuscany. Sinner's speeches form part of the song, which is in Italian and English, with Bocelli in full flow. "Every life is a potential work of art: each of us bears the sweet responsibility of nurturing our talents in the daily acrobatics of living, pursuing our dreams while remaining steadfastly true to our values," the pair wrote on Instagram. "This duet is such a bold leap that it has ignited our passion, born of shared and unwavering desire to express our deep belief that nothing is impossible." Sinner, the U.S. Open and Australian Open champion, said he was honoured to be part of the project with Bocelli, describing the singer as a "unique and extraordinary voice" and "a flag for our country in the rest of the world". "I could never have imagined hearing my voice in one of his songs. It's extremely moving," the 23-year-old added. Sinner, who was beaten by Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in an epic French Open final earlier this month, lost in the last 16 of the Halle Open on Thursday in a blow to his preparations for Wimbledon which gets underway on June 30. Radio DJ Glenn Ong says he was ‘unhappily married' in Instagram post on weight loss
Radio DJ Glenn Ong said that he was in an unhappy marriage in an Instagram post celebrating his weight loss. PHOTO: GLENNN/INSTAGRAM Radio DJ Glenn Ong says he was 'unhappily married' in Instagram post on weight loss SINGAPORE - Veteran radio DJ Glenn Ong admitted he was 'unhappily married' in an Instagram post made on June 18 to celebrate his weight loss journey. In it, he wrote that that he will turn 55 on June 22, and that it has been two years since he started training two to three times a week to lose weight. 'From an unhealthy 84kg when I was unhappily married to a crazy happy 73kg now. Always choose happy if you can,' the host of The Big Show With Glenn And Angel on SPH Radio's Kiss92 wrote, alluding to his eight-year marriage to fellow local radio DJ Jean Danker, 46 a host and presenter on Mediacorp's Class 95. The former couple, who did not have any children together, announced their split in December 2024. It was Ong's third marriage, following his first two with the late Kate Reyes and Jamie Yeo, both former radio DJs. Ong's post, in which he encouraged his 77,600 Instagram followers to exercise and lose weight, included two photos - a selfie and a shot of him exercising at a gym. 'Can't seem to hit my target of 70kg but I'll settle for 72 to 73 because I feel really awesome now. The last time I was in this shape was when I was 21. If I can do it, guys and gals, so can you. Ready to take on the world,' he wrote. About a week earlier, Danker mused about her post-divorce dating life in a series of Instagram Stories on June 10, where she answered anonymous Ask Me Anything questions posed by some of her 77,700 followers. She revealed that she has been asked out by guys she labels as 'the brave young 20somethings'. Asked if she was ready to get attached, she replied: 'Let's just say it's gonna take someone really special for me to give up sleeping diagonal on my massive king sized bed - and it hasn't happened yet.' She also advised that women should not beat themselves up for having 'any kind of feelings' towards divorce, 'whether it's embarrassment or otherwise'. 'It's scariest just before you do it and even if you leap crying, and fly through the air screaming in fear, you're gonna land on solid ground, I promise you. Be brave.' Danker later told news outlet CNA that she feels 'a real sense of uplevelling at the moment'. 'I'm honestly grateful every day and am just looking to work hard professionally... taking good care of myself in all aspects and enjoying my friendships. She added: 'It's a bonus (and a miracle) if I find someone who is aligned with me in many ways, so that's not a huge priority. I really don't want to go on dating apps, so whatever will be will be. Open to casual coffee dates!' Join ST's Telegram channel and get the latest breaking news delivered to you.
