CM asks officials to expedite metro rail project work

on Wednesday inspected the ongoing construction work on the Patna Metro Rail Project at Malahi Pakadi and Bhootnath metro stations and asked the officials to expedite work.
The secretary of urban development and housing department (UDHD), Abhay Kumar Singh, gave detailed information to the CM regarding the progress and updated status of the construction work on the priority corridor (Malahi Pakadi to Pataliputra bus terminal) as the target is to start this line by Aug 15.
Abhay informed the CM that the target is to complete the construction work on the total 6.20 km from Malahi Pakadi to Khemnichak, Bhootnath road, Zero Mile, Pataliputra bus terminal on priority basis.
The state govt has provided Rs 115.10 crore for its operation.
The UDHD secretary also apprised Nitish about the escalator, ticket counter, passenger facility, public area, paid area, lift, path to the platform and other necessary facilities to be provided at Malahi Pakadi metro station.
The CM directed the officials to expedite the construction work. "We have been continuously inspecting its construction works and instructed the officials to ensure its completion on time so that people have convenience in commuting," the CM said.
UDHD minister Jibesh Kumar; principal secretary to the CM, Deepak Kumar; secretary to the CM, Kumar Ravi; Patna commissioner Chandrashekhar Singh; DM Thiyagarajan SM; SSP Avkash Kumar and other senior officials of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Patna Metro Rail Project were present on the occasion.

Diamond jewellery brand Zen Diamond plans to open 100 stores across India by 2030, especially in quality malls, a senior company executive has company has two stores in Mumbai, and has signed up for three more, two in the south and one in the north, taking the total to five by the end of this calendar year., according to the official. "We are looking at retail expansion in India. We are planning to have 100 stores across India in the next five years, initially in the major metros, followed by tier II cities," Zen Diamond India Managing Director Neil Sonawala told PTI. For its India presence, the company has already invested Rs 100 crore, funded through internal accruals, he said. "We plan to expand, at least up to 10-15 stores, through internal accrual. Post that, for 100 stores in India in the next five years, we will tap different channels for funding. Maybe it could also be a franchise or we could also have some other alternate funding arrangements. It's a bit premature to talk about that at this stage," he added. Currently, Zen Diamond has over 450 stores across 20 countries. Sonawala further said that Zen Diamond is launching an e-commerce platform and has also collaborated with Pernia's pop-up. "We are launching an e-commerce platform. So, we will also have a shop-in-shop in 4-5 Bernier outlets by the end of the year," he added. When asked about the jewellery designs, Sonawala said, the Zen Diamond stores in India will have 75-80 per cent of selected international designs. "But, of course, in India we also need to blend with the local culture and the local taste and preferences. So, 20 per cent of designs are also created in India and which are more on the Indo-Western line. We are on the modern, trendy, international side of designs, ranging from Rs 20,000 and going all the way up to Rs 15 lakh. Our focus is everyday wear, evening wear and gifting," he added. For this purpose, the company has set up a manufacturing unit in Mumbai with a capacity of producing 5 lakh jewellery pieces annually," he said. "We have a manufacturing unit in Mumbai. So, everything is made in India in our facilities. We have a capacity of close to 35,000-40,000 pieces a month. So, almost 500,000 pieces a year," he added. PTI

RBI, banks to launch DPIP platform to combat rising digital payment frauds

In a bid to rein in the increasing incidence of digital payment frauds, major public and private sector banks have been roped to develop Digital Payment Intelligence Platform (DPIP) as a Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) under the supervision and guidance of the RBI. The proposed platform seeks to bolster fraud risk management by facilitating real-time intelligence sharing and gathering, thereby preventing fraudulent digital transactions, sources said. According to sources, the institutional structure of the proposed entity would be created with the help of both public sector and private sector lenders as fraud is a common monster. Earlier this month, a high-level meeting in this regard was convened to finalise the structure of the platform where senior bank officials, RBI officials and other stakeholders were present. Since the issue is one of the top agenda for both the government and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), sources said the platform should become operational in the next few months. Once operational, DPIP will collect and analyse data from various sources to identify potential threats and prevent fraudulent activities. By enabling real-time data sharing, the platform will help prevent scams and ensure secure transactions. Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) has been assigned for building a prototype of DPIP in consultation with 5-10 banks. It is going to leverage advanced technologies to curb payment-related frauds. RBI, in June last year, formed a committee, chaired by A P Hota, former MD & CEO of NPCI, to examine various aspects of establishing this digital public infrastructure. According to the latest annual report of the RBI, there has been a significant surge in bank frauds, with the amount involved rising nearly three times to Rs 36,014 crore in FY25, compared to Rs 12,230 crore in the previous year. Of this, as much as Rs 25,667 crore worth of frauds were reported by public sector banks as against Rs 9,254 crore a year ago. Frauds have occurred predominantly in the category of digital payments (card/internet) in terms of the number and primarily in the loan portfolio (advances) in terms of value, it said. While card/internet frauds contributed maximum to the number of frauds reported by private sector banks, frauds in public sector banks were mainly in advances, it said.

Chhattisgarh: HM Shah lays foundation stone for NFSU campus, state forensic lab

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) campus in Naya Raipur, marking a significant step in strengthening the criminal justice infrastructure in Chhattisgarh. On occasion, HM Shah has reiterated his earlier deadline—March 31, 2026—for the complete eradication of Naxalism from India, underlining the importance of intelligence-driven, forensic-led policing in achieving this goal. On Monday, the Home Minister is expected to visit Narayanpur district, where he will interact with BSF (Border Security Force) personnel and villagers in the remote Abujhmad region. HM Shah is set to visit Irkbhatti, a remote region in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district, on Monday, where he is expected to spend nearly three hours engaging with local communities and security personnel. During his visit, the Home Minister will hold direct interactions with members of the Abujhmariya tribal community to gain first-hand insights into the implementation of the state's flagship welfare initiative, the 'Niyad Nella Narayan Yojana.' He will also distribute educational materials to local children as part of the government's outreach to underserved populations in insurgency-affected areas. In a gesture of appreciation, the Home Minister will meet with the security personnel involved in the operation that led to the neutralisation of Naxal commander Basavaraju. Since the BJP government took office in Chhattisgarh, over 427 Maoists have been killed in joint operations, with authorities stressing that development and modern policing go hand in hand.
