Stockholm Diamond League schedule and start times including Mondo Duplantis
The athletics party isn't stopping yet and Stockholm is the next stop on the Diamond League circuit this week.
This time, the world's best will be travelling to Sweden for the seventh meet of the 2025 calendar.
With Paris 800m Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson hit by another injury setback, her hopes of making her first outdoor appearance of the season this weekend have vanished. Now, the field is wide open and anyone's for the taking. Hodgkinson's British compatriots, Jemma Reekie and Georgia Hunter Bell, will be on the start line on Sunday night and hoping to make their mark in their first 800m appearances of the season.
Reekie finished fourth in the 1500m in Doha meet last month. The Scot will be looking for a repeat here after storming home to an 800m victory at the 2024 Stockholm meet.
Hunter Bell makes her first appearance at the Diamond League this year, and following her dazzling 1500m bronze medal in Paris last year, the 31-year-old is looking stronger than ever to become a serious contender for the win this weekend.
Dutch star Femke Bol is back in action this weekend in the 400m hurdles, looking to better the season's best she set in Rabat last month. The 25-year-old has dominated the event since her breakthrough in 2020, winning 25 individual wins and four consecutive Diamond League titles.
Swedish fans will be hooked as their golden boy, Mondo Duplantis, attempts to produce another masterclass in the pole vault. After his performance in Oslo, it will be more of a question of how high his vaulting prowess can propel him, rather than where the 25-year old will place.
Paris Olympic high jump champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh comes into the Stockholm event as one of only two women to have jumped over two metres this season. The other being Australia's Nicola Olyslagers, who is sure to be hot on her heels, finishing just behind the Ukrainian for the silver medal in Paris.
Great Britain's Amber Anning lines up in the 400m yet again after a third place run and season's best in Oslo last night.
She is up against Last night's winner, Isabella Whittaker from the USA, and Norway's Henriette Jaeger, who took skin off her elbow to thrust herself over the finish line for second place in a personal best time in front of her home crowd last night.
After a spectacular new world best in the men's 300m hurdles last night, Norway's Karsten Warholm will return to his familiar format of the 400m hurdles. He will be taking on some of the same faces he left in the dust on Thursday evening, including rivals Rai Benjamin and Alison dos Santos.

The Scottish Premiership's opening fixture weekend being spread over three days will be the "exception rather than the rule", says the league's operations chief Calum one of the six games will take place at 15:00 BST on Saturday 2 August - Kilmarnock v Livingston - with a match later that day, three the following day and one on the evening of 4 the SPFL's operations director, said two of the Sunday games are down to clubs playing in Europe."We are very aware at the SPFL of the traditional kick-off slot of three o'clock and really keen to protect that and protect the value of that for season ticket holders and all of that tradition," Beattie said. "I would say we do that more than most European leagues."We try to get that balance right between selling the right number of games, which then brings in revenue for the league, but then doesn't dislocate too many games away from the three o'clock slot."The opening game of the SPFL season, the Championship meeting of Arbroath and Ayr United, will take place on the evening of Friday 1 August, broadcast live on BBC Scotland and hopes Saturday will also put the "spotlight on the Championship and Leagues 1 and 2"."The opening weekend is quite unique for us because there's an opportunity for Scottish football to be showcased across the UK, across the world because we're one of the leagues to go first," he explained."We want to show the best of Scottish football across that weekend."One of the games that isn't on Saturday at three o'clock is Dundee against Hibs and that's all because of Hibs playing in Europe [on Thursday, 31 July], that their game had to be the Sunday."Similarly, the Dundee United game away to Falkirk had to be the Sunday, regardless of TV selections."The opening weekend with there only being one on Saturday at three o'clock will prove to be an exception rather than the rule." Atletico Madrid ready to battle Saudi clubs for Aston Villa's Emi Martinez
Atlético Madrid are ready to join the race for Emiliano Martínez should the Spanish club enter the market for a goalkeeper this summer. As revealed by Telegraph Sport, the Aston Villa keeper has been a target for the Saudi Pro League and is potentially one of the most high-profile Premier League transfers of the summer. But Atlético are also understood to also be monitoring Martínez's situation at Villa Park and would look at a deal if Jan Oblak ends his decade-long stint as No 1 for manager Diego Simeone. Oblak, 32, is playing for Atlético at the Club World Cup but the Slovenia international has regularly been linked with moves away from Metropolitano Stadium during a period where he has won La Liga and the Europa League. Martínez, who has won the Yashin Trophy for the past two years and was also named Fifa's goalkeeper of the year in 2022, is announced as the 'world's No 1' at Villa's home matches and the World Cup winner is regarded as among the best despite his form dipping slightly last season. Clubs are monitoring his situation and others at Villa to see if the club needs to comply with Premier League financial rules, which could see players available for the right deal. They sold Colombia striker Jhon Duran to Saudi club Al-Nassr in January, having also sold Moussa Diaby to Al-Ittihad last summer. While Manchester United have been linked with Martínez, it is understood that a deal not something currently being looked at. Martínez helped Villa qualify for the Europa League next season, although his sending off on the final day of the campaign at United played a part in a dramatic finale, with Emery's team denied a goal when referee Thomas Bramall blew his whistle too early and could not use VAR as a result.
