Nintendo Switch 2 set for June 26 S'pore release; special experience event from June 20 to July 24

SINGAPORE – Local gamers will soon be able to get their hands on Nintendo's Switch 2, which will be released for sale here on June 26 .
Those raring to try the Switch 2 before its release will get to do so at a special event to mark its launch.
From June 20 to July 24 , gamers can get a taste of the Mario Kart World game on Nintendo's latest console at the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience Event at Jewel Changi Airport .
It will be the only place in Singapore where visitors will be able to play the new 'Knockout Tour' mode in Mario Kart World before its official release here, said Nintendo.
The event runs from 10am to 10pm daily at Jewel Changi Airport's Basement 1 atrium . It will be open for entry until 9.30pm .
The Switch 2 is Nintendo's first new console in eight years . It will also be launched in the Philippines and Thailand on June 26 .
Pre-orders in Singapore for the console, which retails at $719, began on June 9.
Nintendo sold a record 3.5 million-plus units of the Switch 2 in just four days after its June 5 global release.

Wang is currently staging his The Best Place concert tour in China, with three sold-out shows in Beijing from June 20 to 22. 'Is there something wrong with the camera? Why are there two overlapping images?' Wang jested when Aarif, dressed in clothes similar to his outfits, appeared on stage on June 20. 'Or are my eyes seeing things?' Aarif joked that it could be due to artificial intelligence (AI). 'AI is very powerful now, and the technology of face-swopping is very scary,' he said. 'The AI filter is so powerful that it makes me 10 years younger today,' Wang replied. Aarif quipped: 'And you will grow taller.' Wang is 1.8m tall, while Aarif is 1.75m tall. Wang said many people have remarked on their resemblance, as the two artistes positioned themselves together on stage for the fans to make their judgment. 'Thank you, my 'twin'. We really look alike,' Wang acknowledged. Aarif – who is of Arab, Malay and Chinese descent – said that since the age of 16, he has often heard comments that he is a Wang lookalike. He attended his first Wang concert in 2008 when he graduated from university, he said, adding that both of them have finally appeared on stage together after 17 years. At the concert, they performed Wang's songs Still In Love With You (2011) and One World One Dream (2008). Wang posted photos of the concert on Chinese social media platform Weibo on June 21. 'Brothers performed a 'lookalike show',' he wrote . 'Were you surprised by today's guest performer Aarif Rahman?' Under Wang's post, Aarif thanked him for inviting him to the concert. Aarif also posted several concert photos on social media. 'Performing your songs on the same stage with you was something I never imagined when I was watching your concert during my younger days,' he wrote on Weibo. 'It has come true in Beijing. ‘Recovering at home', Giorgio Armani to miss fashion show for first time in his career
[MILAN] Giorgio Armani will not attend his group's two shows at Milan's Men's Fashion Week as he is currently recovering at home, a company statement said on Friday (Jun 20), the first time in his career he will miss one of his catwalk events. The designer, who will turn 91 in July, will not be at the Emporio Armani catwalk on Saturday or at the Giorgio Armani show on Monday, the statement said. It did not expand on his current health conditions. Italian newswires reported on Friday that Armani had been in a Milan hospital for some days. 'Armani has worked with his usual dedication on the collections that will be presented,' the company statement said, adding that although he could not be there in person, he will follow every step of the shows. Known as 'Re Giorgio' – King Giorgio – the designer is known for overseeing every detail of his collection and every aspect of his business, from advertising to fixing models' hair as they head out onto the catwalk. At the end of all his shows, he comes out from backstage and onto the catwalk to greet his audience.
