Should You Buy, Sell or Hold NET Stock After a 68.5% YTD Surge?

Cloudflare NET has enjoyed a remarkable 68.5% surge in the year-to-date period, outperforming the Zacks Internet - Software industry's return of 12.9%. With such a stellar performance, investors are left wondering — should they double down on NET stock, or is caution the wiser path? Cloudflare YTD Performance Chart Strength in SASE and Zero Trust Aids Cloudflare's Growth Cloudflare's secure access service edge (SASE) platform is gaining rapid adoption among enterprises as it offers modernized and simplified network security and connectivity. NET recently secured its longest SASE deal in the first quarter of fiscal 2025. The company has also expanded its geographical reach in Latin America through collaboration with TD SYNNEX. Since Cloudflare provides an end-to-end cloud-based secured SASE solution that simplifies the adoption process for its clients, it is winning larger deals. Cloudflare combines its Zero Trust security products like Cloudflare Gateway, remote browser isolation and cloud access security broker with its Network Services like Magic WAN, Magic Transit and Magic Firewall, Cloudflare Network Interconnect. Cloudflare's presence is rapidly expanding in the Zero Trust cybersecurity space, where it has made integrations with companies like Atlassian, Microsoft and Sumo Logic, to enable small, medium and large-sized businesses to secure reliable tools and applications with enterprise-ready Zero Trust security. Based on this approach, NET has been witnessing tremendous customer growth in Zero Trust solutions and network services like Magic Transit in Cloudflare One. For instance, Cloudflare One Zero Trust platform is used by more than 10,000 companies worldwide. Rapid Adoption of Workers Developer Platform Drives Cloudflare Cloudflare Workers started as a serverless platform where developers could build, deploy, and scale applications across Cloudflare's global network. The platform was developed for convenience as it enables developers to take actions using a single command and reduces infrastructure management and configuration complexities and brings applications closer to users. The Workers AI tool integrated in the Workers developer platform has witnessed an explosive 4,000% year-over-year surge in inference requests as reported in first-quarter earnings. Cloudflare is now focusing on enriching its Workers platform with the Model Context Protocol server, which will enable clients to deploy AI agents to simplify tasks like managing workflows, handling transactions, or querying business data. These value additions to its platform will lead to upsells and customer acquisition, hence boosting this platform's growth. In its latest quarterly results, NET announced that its total customer base has reached the milestone of 250,819 paying customers, up 27% year over year. Due to all these positive factors, analysts are optimistic about the stock's future growth. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for fiscal 2025 and 2026 revenues is projected to grow 25.38% and 26%, respectively. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for 2025 and 2026 earnings is projected to grow 5.3% and 31.6%, respectively. Cloudflare beat the Zacks Consensus Estimates in three of the trailing four quarters while matching the same on one occasion, with an average surprise of 14.88%. Key Challenges Faced by Cloudflare A substantial portion of the company's sales is derived from outside the United States. During the full years 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021 and 2020, NET earned approximately 49%, 48%, 47%, 48% and 49%, respectively, of its revenues from outside the United States. However, the U.S. government's aggressive stance on tariffs toward major economies is a concern for Cloudflare. Moreover, NET operates in a highly competitive environment. In its content delivery space, companies like Amazon AMZN, Akamai Technology and Fastly compete with Cloudflare. While in the cyber security space, a range of competitors like Palo Alto Networks PANW and Zscaler ZS compete with it. Amazon also competes with its developer platform through its general-purpose serverless and container-based edge deployment solutions. Alphabet is implementing AI in its Cloud Run solution, Amazon's AWS Lambda & Lambda@Edge leverage deep integrations with AWS services, robust tooling, and a mature developer base. Additionally, AWS Fargate is the AWS service that also enables serverless compute for containers. These solutions threaten the dominance of Cloudflare's developer platform. Palo Alto Networks' SASE platform has an active customer user base of more than 6,000. Palo Alto Networks achieved 36% year-over-year growth in SASE ARR and 16% growth in $1 million-plus deals in the third quarter of fiscal 2025, making it a dominant SASE player. Zscaler, on the other hand, leads the Zero Trust space and also offers SASE solutions. The company offers Zero Trust Network Access solutions through Zscaler Private Access, which enables secure application access without VPN. ZS is now moving toward the Zero Trust Everywhere model, which secures cloud, endpoint and network. Zscaler also provides a full SASE platform by combining identity access, private access and cloud protection. NET's Valuation Suggests the Stock's Overvaluation Cloudflare is trading at a 12-month forward P/S ratio of 25.43X, significantly above the industry average of 6.97X. Cloudflare Forward 12 Month P/S Valuation Chart What Should Investors Do? While Cloudflare's recent stock surge and strong market position are encouraging, its high valuation warrants caution. Therefore, we believe new investors should wait for a better entry point and existing investors should retain Cloudflare, which currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), given the modest growth prospects and a stretched valuation in the near term. Will the Traction in SASE and Zero Trust Keep Driving Cloudflare?

Cloudflare NET signed its longest secure access service edge (SASE) contract in the first quarter of 2025 and has been gaining traction constantly as enterprises modernize and simplify their network security and connectivity. Cloudflare combines its Zero Trust security products like Cloudflare Gateway, remote browser isolation and cloud access security broker with its Network Services like Magic WAN, Magic Transit and Magic Firewall, Cloudflare Network Interconnect and spectrum to provide an end-to-end cloud-based secured SASE solution that simplifies the adoption process for its clients, helping NET in winning larger deals. Cloudflare has also partnered with industry giants like TD SYNNEX to expand the geographical reach of its managed security services across Latin America, including Zero Trust and SASE solutions, to support MSSP growth in the region. In the Zero Trust space, NET has been witnessing tremendous customer growth for its core application services portfolio, Zero Trust solutions and network services like Magic Transit in Cloudflare One. NET has made Zero Trust integrations with companies like Atlassian, Microsoft and Sumo Logic, to enable small, medium and large-sized businesses to secure reliable tools and applications with enterprise-ready Zero Trust security. This strategy has expanded the reach of the Cloudflare One Zero Trust platform to more than 10,000 companies worldwide. These factors have helped Cloudflare to achieve 250,819 paying customers at the end of the first quarter, up 27% year over year. NET added 30 new customers during the quarter who contributed more than $100,000 in annual revenues. The total count of such customers reached 3,527 at the end of the quarter. How Competitors Fare Against Cloudflare Cloudflare faces stiff competition from Palo Alto Networks PANW and Zscaler ZS in SASE and Zero Trust offerings. Since the competition in the SASE and Zero Trust space is high, this remains an investor's concern for Cloudflare's growth. However, since the SASE market is witnessing a CAGR of 23.6% and the Zero Trust Market is seeing a CAGR of 16.7%, Cloudflare has enough headroom to expand its business. Cloudflare's Price Performance, Valuation and Estimates Shares of NET have surged 68.6% year to date compared with the Zacks Internet - Software industry's growth of 13%. From a valuation standpoint, NET trades at a forward price-to-sales ratio of 26.77X, higher than the industry's average of 5.68X. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for NET's fiscal 2025 and 2026 earnings implies year-over-year growth of 5.33% and 31.64%, respectively. The estimates for fiscal 2025 earnings have been revised downward in the past 60 days, and the 2026 earnings have been revised downward in the past 30 days. Cannon Resources Announces Major Resource Expansion and Significant Development Momentum at Fisher East Nickel Project

Updated Resource, High-Grade Discovery, and Accelerated De-risking Underscore Fisher East's Strategic Value in the Global Critical Materials Supply Chain TORONTO and PERTH, Australia, June 18, 2025 /CNW/ - Cannon Resources Pty Ltd ("Cannon" or "the Company"), a Western Australia-based nickel exploration and development company backed by Kinterra Capital Corp. ("Kinterra"), is pleased to announce a significant update to its flagship Fisher East Nickel Project ("Fisher East" or "the Project"). This latest milestone includes a major increase in the Project's Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE), a high-grade discovery at depth, and ongoing permitting and technical progress—all of which position Fisher East as one of Australia's most actionable and strategically important undeveloped nickel sulphide assets. Fisher East offers a rare blend of high-grade, near-surface mineralisation, simple deposit geometry that supports conventional underground mining methods, and a relatively low initial capex requirement. The Project continues to demonstrate the scale, quality, and development readiness that investors and partners are increasingly prioritizing. Material Growth in Resource and Grade Since acquiring the Project in 2023, Cannon has delivered transformative growth. The updated JORC-compliant MRE now stands at 18.0 million tonnes at an average grade of 1.9% nickel. This represents a 250% increase in tonnage from the prior estimate, and a substantial uplift in contained nickel—from 134.1 thousand tonnes to 338.5 thousand tonnes. Importantly, the grade profile has also improved from 1.74% to 1.90%, reinforcing the Project's economic potential and resilience in a range of nickel price environments. Notes: Mineral Resources have been classified in accordance with the JORC Code. All material is classified as either Indicated or Inferred Mineral Resource. Reporting cut-off grade of 0.9% Ni has been applied. BD values were calculated using regression formulas based on BD (bulk density) measurements and interpolated. Material from oxide and transition zones was excluded from the statements. Rows and columns may not add up exactly due to rounding. This growth reflects not only the strength of the underlying geology but also Cannon's consistent execution of a targeted and technically rigorous exploration program. High-Grade Intercepts Extend Musket System at Depth In addition to the broader resource increase, Cannon has uncovered strong new evidence of depth extension at the Musket deposit. In May 2025, drillhole MFED239—a co-funded drillhole under the Government of Western Australia's Exploration Incentive Scheme—intersected an estimated four metres of massive and disseminated sulphide mineralisation grading approximately 4.0% nickel. Final assays for MFED239 are expected in July 2025. The intercept lies 320 metres down plunge of the current Musket resource model and offers compelling indications of both continuity and grade uplift at depth. A downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) survey conducted on the hole identified a strong off-hole conductor both up and down plunge, suggesting even greater potential for continued growth within the deeper portions of the Musket system. DHEM has been very successful at Fisher East in identifying conductors that have mineralisation, and additional drilling is being planned. "These results point to a larger and more robust mineral system than previously defined," said Chris O'Brien, Vice President and Project Director at Cannon. "We're seeing increasing grade with depth, strong geophysical continuity, and room to grow well beyond the current model. These fundamentals will support long-term value." Mineable, Resilient, and Commercially Attractive Fisher East includes multiple zones grading above 2.0% nickel, allowing for flexible mine sequencing and margin protection in volatile nickel price cycles. Its shallow depth and straightforward mineralogy contribute to a low capital intensity profile. In a market where clean, economic, and secure nickel supply is becoming increasingly scarce, Fisher East offers distinct advantages, including jurisdiction, scalability, and potential early value generation. Strategic Outlook: Path to Development With two major resource updates completed in under two years, a high-grade extension emerging at depth, and permitting and technical studies well underway, Cannon is entering the next phase of value creation. The Company has now initiated engagement with potential offtake partners and financing partners. "Our vision is to build a modern, resilient, nickel supply chain anchored in Tier-1 jurisdictions," said Cheryl Brandon, Co-Managing Partner at Kinterra. "Fisher East embodies the kind of high-grade, technically sound, and commercially viable project the market needs—and we're excited to support Cannon as it moves forward." Cannon will continue to release updates as assays for recent drillholes are received and technical milestones are achieved. A QA/QC summary for this release will be included in the upcoming technical appendix following final laboratory confirmation of results. About Cannon Resources Cannon Resources Pty Ltd is a Western Australia-based mineral exploration company focused on the development of the Fisher East Nickel Project.
