Young business owner's fury over customer's cruel act on Facebook Marketplace: 'Take this is as a serious warning'
A small business owner has called out a deceitful customer who received a refund for an online order - despite having received the goods - and later trying to sell the items on Facebook Marketplace.
Emma Diedrichs, who runs online business called LuxeLittleOne selling baby backpacks and nappy totes, said she was left nearly $250 out of pocket after the customer told her bank she didn't recognise the charge in her bank statement.
The customer had purchased two luxury baby bags in February. But shortly after the items were delivered to her address, the same customer quietly claimed a 'chargeback' on her credit card to secure a refund.
It's a process where a credit or debit card issuer reverses a transaction and returns the funds to the cardholder, typically when a customer disputes a purchase.
Chargeback fraud is one of the latest scams affecting small businesses across Australia - and the worst part is, dodgy customers are getting away with it.
Despite proving that the items arrived at the shopper's doorstep, Emma said the bank sided with the customer, so she lost the sale and was hit with an additional $25 fee.
'It's so disheartening for me. I'm a single mum, this is my livelihood. This took money off the table for my family... $250 was taken out of our bank account and (refunded) back to the customer. It really hurt me,' the business owner said in a video.
To make matters worse, Emma said she saw her products being advertised for sale on Facebook Marketplace - leaving her furious.
'Fast forward to last week, I was scrolling on Facebook Marketplace and found our two luxury baby bags,' Emma said in disbelief.
Upon seeing the ad, she quickly realised it had been created by the same customer received the refund four months ago.
'X2 LittleLuxeOne baby bags. One pink and grey, the other grey and black. Only used for a few months. Near new condition with no wear and tear,' the ad read.
'Currently on sale for $119.90 for one. RRP $239.80 each. Cash and pink up only.'
Furious, Emma said she began looking up the seller's Facebook profile.
'It's the exact same name of the lady that placed the order and the lady that put the chargeback through,' she said.
'Honestly, this is so frustrating for me, so frustrating. I work so hard in this business, this is my full-time job. This puts food on the table for myself and my son.
'I'm working day in and day out to provide for my family. It's just me. This is my income. You wouldn't go to somebody's workplace and take $250 off them.'
At the time the customer claimed the chargeback, Emma said the woman never raised any issues about the items with her business.
'This customer did not contact us whatsoever... I assumed everything was normal,' Emma said.
'Me being naïve and receiving my first chargeback, I didn't know what to do, so I just kind of disputed it. But the bank decided to favor with the customer.
The mum said she wanted to share her experience on social media to prevent dodgy customers from scamming business owners.
'If you ever think that you want to put a chargeback through to a little Aussie small business, just think again, maybe contact the company or the business directly and resolve the issue,' she said.
'If I had known what to do and tried to contact the customer first, I would have done that but I just didn't know what a chargeback was at the time and I was already just so disheartened that she thought our company was fraudulent. We are not fraudulent.'
Emma said what the customer did to her small business was, in fact, fraudulent.
'I'm p***ed off,' she explained.
'And I just wanted to come on here and rant to you guys because I know our community are amazing.
'And just don't, please don't do a chargeback on small businesses... it just hurts. And when you see them selling it on Facebook Marketplace, like what f***?'

The policy known as the National Housing Accord includes $3.5billion in payments to state, territory and local governments to support the delivery of new homes towards the target, and a one-off $2billion payment to help states and territories to increase social housing stock. Aussies were quick to criticise the video, slamming the lacklustre seven-month timeframe for building just 17 houses. '17 homes in seven months... At that rate it will take you 1,886 years to complete the remaining 55,000 homes,' one said. 'You should reach your target by 2080 - what a joke,' said another. 'Do you realise another major building company has just declared bankruptcy?' a third asked. Critics have labelled Labor's housing target unrealistic, if not impossible, amid soaring construction costs and unfettered immigration. Australia had a record level of construction company insolvencies in 2025, a 24 per cent increase over last year's rate. Labor's policy requires 240,000 homes to be delivered every single year for five years - a significant improvement on Australia's record year of construction in 2017, when about 223,000 homes were built. Leith van Onselen, who formerly worked at the Australian Treasury and is the chief economist at MacroBusiness, said the construction sector was struggling. 'As a result, builders are caught between a rock and a hard place whereby they can't deliver stock at a profitable level, and that has created a major handbrake on housing construction,' Mr van Onselen said. 'We're still seeing lots of builders going under, and they're struggling to make a profit at the moment, which just means this housing construction target from the federal government is completely unrealistic. Major development after baby girl injured in fire extinguisher prank that sent shockwaves around Australia
Two teenage boys have been charged after they allegedly sprayed a fire extinguisher into a car carrying a five-month-old baby and her father in Queensland. Aussie dad Leon and his baby, Pixie, were stopped at a red light in Sippy Downs on the Sunshine Coast, when the teens allegedly rode up on an e-bike and sprayed the fire extinguisher through the car's back window at 7.50pm on June 15. On Saturday, police announced that two teens from Buderim had been arrested over the incident. A 15-year-old boy was charged with 13 offences, including two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm. A 14-year-old boy was also charged with six offences, including two counts of wilful damage and assault occasioning bodily harm. Police will allege they had stolen the fire extinguisher from a nearby carpark on Courage Street earlier that night. Pixie was rushed to hospital where she had to have 100ml of saline solution put in her eyes to clean off the chemical powder. 'It was the most horrible scream I've ever heard in my life,' her mother, Tiffani Teasdale told 9News. 'I actually had to leave and one of the nurses had to come in and hold her down for me. She was covered in red rashes. Her eyes were pretty bloodshot. 'She was a little bit wheezy.' Pixie was discharged from hospital early on Monday with her mother urged to continue monitoring her symptoms. The fire extinguisher left a thick coat of chemical powder over the car's interior and destroyed Pixie's pram, toys and nappy bag. Footage shared to social media, which appeared to be shot from the balcony of a unit, showed two figures speeding along a Sunshine Coast street on Sunday night. One appeared to be facing forward steering the e-bike while the second was letting off a thick trail of gas behind them, which appears to be from a fire extinguisher. A teenage boy has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Sydney 's east. Emergency services were called to Beauchamp Road in Maroubra at 4am on Saturday following reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car.
