The game was set to release in September 2025, but in the very last moment Bungie decided to delay it due to the following reasons:
1. Negative feedback from Alpha testing:
After the recent May alpha testing of Marathon, testers criticized the game, stating a lack of tension and an underwhelming solo experience. These concerns made developers start redeveloping a few aspects of the game.
2. Plagiarism controversy
There are multiple allegations against the development team addressing stolen artwork that came to light shortly after the alpha test.
3. Sony's live service reevaluation
Following Concord's disappointing reception, Sony is scrutinizing all upcoming live-service titles, including Marathon.
4. Technical challenges faced by Bungie
The team has encountered a few unexpected hurdles with the game's cross-play and progression systems, which require an additional polish.
Development Focus Areas of Marathon:
Here are the following focus areas of development stated by the developers:
Upping the Survival Game
More challenging and engaging AI encounters
More rewarding runs, with new types of loot and dynamic events
Making combat more tense and strategic
Doubling down on the Marathon Universe
Increased visual fidelity
More narrative and environmental storytelling to discover and interact with
A darker tone that delivers on the themes of the original trilogy
Adding more social experiences
A better player experience for solo/duos
Prox chat, so social stories can come to life
The news of the delay badly disappoints everyone from fans to the development team. But this shows the commitment of Bungie to deliver a polished experience. While there is no information yet on the new release date by Bungie, potentially the game

Madhubala Biopic Put On Hold As Makers Rework Financial Plan

Last Updated: The biopic on screen icon Madhubala, directed by Jasmeet K Reen, is on hold as producers Sony, Brewing Thoughts, and Madhubala Pictures reassess the budget. A long-gestating biopic on iconic Bollywood legend Madhubala is back in the spotlight. Although the script is ready and director Jasmeet K Reen (best known for Darlings, 2022) is all set to helm the film, production has come to a standstill due to budget concerns. Once planned as a grand period drama with an estimated cost of Rs 80 to Rs 100 crore, the makers, Sony, Brewing Thoughts, and Madhubala Pictures, are now reworking the numbers to make the project financially sustainable. 'The period detailing, elaborate costumes, and set designs had ballooned the budget to a point where the recovery math didn't add up," a source close to the film shared to Mid-Day. 'The team is now actively working to find a middle path that does justice to Madhubala's grandeur without compromising the project's sustainability," added the source. The film has been in development for years, but things only picked up serious traction once Reen, known for her sensitive portrayal of complex women, came on board. 'The script is a beautiful tribute, which is emotional and rich in detail. No one wants a project that bleeds money. So, the budget has been slashed to half," added the insider. For now, conversations with top female actors have been put on hold until the revised financial plan is finalised. Still, hopes remain high. 'The film deserves to be made. The hope is to take the project on floors by the second quarter of this year," the source said. Lovingly known as the 'Venus of Indian Cinema,' Madhubala won hearts with her beauty, talent, and charm on screen. The upcoming film will tell her life story, highlighting her incredible acting, the mark she left on Indian cinema, and the many struggles she faced as a woman in the film industry during her time. The biopic is being backed by Sony Pictures International Productions along with Brewing Thoughts Pvt. Ltd., headed by Prashant Singh and Madhurya Vinay — the same team currently working on India's biggest superhero trilogy, Shaktimaan. Madhubala's sister, Madhur Brij Bhushan, and Arvind Kumar Malviya of Madhubala Ventures are also on board as co-producers for the project. Earlier speaking to ANI, Madhubala's sister Madhur Bhushan revealed that making a biopic of her loved sister is her 'long-standing dream". She further revealed that while the late actress had a short-lived life but her life is worth every moment. She told the news agency, 'All my sisters and I have joined hands to make this dream come true. With God's blessings and the dedication of my partners – Arvindji, Prashant and Vinay, I am confident that this biopic will be made successfully on a grand level. We need everyone's blessings to put together this project beautifully." First Published:

Spider-Man vs. antihero Punisher? Marvel's newest crossover might be its most intense yet; everything to know

No matter how much superhero fatigue is out there, Spider-Man always seems to swing above the noise. Tom Holland's take on the web-slinger remains a fan favourite, and now with Spider-Man: Brand New Day officially on the horizon, Marvel and Sony have dropped a major update. There's a new villain in town, and he's a familiar face. Spider-Man and the Punisher Enter: Jon Bernthal. Best known for playing Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, Bernthal has officially joined the upcoming Spider-Man movie, which begins shooting in England this summer and is set to release on July 31, 2026. Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is directing, and the film will see the return of Zendaya as MJ as well as Jacob Batalon as Ned. Also joining the mix is Stranger Things breakout Sadie Sink. Having Bernthal's Punisher in the mix immediately hints at a grittier tone for the film. Known for his brutal, no-nonsense vigilante justice — fists, knives, and guns over gadgets and spells — the Punisher brings a raw intensity that could challenge Peter Parker in ways we haven't seen on screen before. As one fan said on X, 'There is so much they could do with this! Love to see a fight with Frank combating Peter's superhuman abilities with his tactical knowledge and planning.' Bernthal's Frank Castle first appeared in Netflix's Daredevil before headlining his own two-season series. He recently reprised the role in Daredevil: Born Again, and this new casting puts him squarely back in the MCU spotlight. The internet, of course, has lost it. 'I literally screamed. Best news I've heard in a while,' one fan wrote. Another added, 'Can't believe we're finally going to see the Punisher on screen alongside Spider-Man. It's been a long time coming.' So far, Brand New Day is shaping up to be anything but business as usual. The two stars will also be seen together in Christopher Nolan's upcoming movie adaptation of The Odyssey, which is due to release in July, 2026.

'K-Pop Demon Hunters' REVIEW: K-pop meets demons in a fun, flashy ride that's more sparkle than substance

If you've ever wondered what would happen if a K-pop girl group secretly hunted demons by night, 'KPop Demon Hunters' gives you exactly that – with a lot of colour, catchy music, and animated flair. The film mixes supernatural action with the sparkle of the pop music world, delivering something that's charming, fun, and light-hearted, though not very deep. The story follows Huntrix, a girl group made up of Rumi, Mira, and Zoey. By day, they're idols with fans and fame, but by night, they hunt demons threatening the human world. Their main enemies are the Saja Boys – a rival boy band whose members are actually demons. The film most likely refers to the Korean word 'jeosung saja', meaning death spirits, which hints at their true nature and dark purpose. The plot is quite straightforward. The girls follow in the footsteps of their predecessors, carrying on the responsibility of keeping evil forces in check. There is a small twist in their story that brings something new, but it's best not to spoil it. Still, the overall storyline is quite standard. Things often resolve too quickly, and some emotional parts – like a major secret involving Rumi – are barely explored. Mira and Zoey accepting it without much reaction feels odd and takes away from what could have been a stronger moment of connection or conflict. Another thing that could have been better was the film's title. There is absolutely no creativity involved in the name 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' and I am sure most watchers and cinephiles would agree. What saves the film, however, is its music. The soundtrack is energetic and very well done, featuring K-pop style tunes that fans of the genre will absolutely love. The musical numbers are not just background; they're woven into the plot and give the film its rhythm and life. If you're someone who enjoys music-heavy animations, this one will likely win you over. Visually, the film is impressive. The animation is slick, colourful, and fast-paced, clearly inspired by Sony's 'Spider-Verse' films. The fight scenes and concert visuals are filled with movement and detail. It also brings to mind 'Turning Red' in terms of themes like growing up, friendship, and family, mixed with fantasy and humour. Another comparison can be made to K/DA, the fictional girl group from League of Legends. The styling, music, and world-building feel quite similar, and fans of that group will feel right at home here. There's also a playful tone throughout. The film is aware of K-pop and K-drama clichés and isn't afraid to poke fun at them. This self-awareness adds a nice layer of humour, especially for viewers familiar with the world of Korean entertainment. The voice cast is another highlight. Arden Cho delivers an emotional performance as Rumi, giving her more depth than the script sometimes allows. EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami – who provide the singing voices for Rumi, Mira, and Zoey – each bring their own style and flair to the music. With supporting cast members like Lee Byung-hun, Ken Jeong, Daniel Dae Kim, and Ahn Hyo-seop, the film boasts a strong and varied vocal line-up. In the end, 'KPop Demon Hunters' is a visually appealing and musically exciting film that's perfect for fans of K-pop, animation, or light fantasy. It's not particularly deep, and the plot can feel too neat or rushed at times, but it's still a good time. If you're looking for something easy to watch, full of charm and fun, this film won't disappoint. Also, if you love music or catchy tunes, then you can surely revisit the film more than once. 3 out of 5 stars – A bright and enjoyable film with catchy tunes and heart, even if it doesn't dig too deep.
