Cardiff City announce Andy Rinomhota exit as nine players now gone The Bluebirds have not given a new deal to any of the nine players who are out of contract this month Andy Rinomhota of Cardiff City (Image: Huw Evans Picture Agency Ltd ) Cardiff City have confirmed midfielder Andy Rinomhota will leave the club at the end of the month when his contract expires. The 28-year-old departs after three seasons in the Welsh capital, having joined from Reading in the summer of 2022. He made 84 appearances for the Bluebirds in all competitions during his time at Cardiff City Stadium. ‌ A dynamic and combative presence in midfield, Rinomhota struggled to establish himself as a consistent starter in recent campaigns amid fierce competition for places and managerial changes. Join the Cardiff City breaking news and top stories WhatsApp community ‌ He went on loan at Rotherham United last season and it looked as though his time at Cardiff was over, however he resurrected his Bluebirds career this term and went on to win the club's Players' Player of the Season. In a statement, Cardiff thanked Rinomhota for his service and professionalism during his time in south Wales and wished him the best in the next chapter of his career. "Following talks with First Team management, Cardiff City FC can confirm Andy Rinomhota will depart at the end of his current agreement, on June 30th, 2025," the club wrote. "His professionalism, tenacity and work rate endeared him greatly to the City support. We'd like to thank Andy for his service and wish him all the very best for the future." ‌ Rinomhota's departure comes as part of a wider summer shake-up at Cardiff, with new head coach Brian Barry-Murphy overseeing preparations for the upcoming campaign. It comes hours after club captain Joe Ralls, another midfielder, was also confirmed as a summer departure. The club are expected to reshape their midfield options in the transfer market as they look to improve on a disappointing 2024/25 season. Rinomhota's confirmed exit means none of the nine players whose contracts expired this summer agreed new terms, representing something of a clearout. The club have confirmed Aaron Ramsey, Jamilu Collins, Raheem Conte, Anwar El Ghazi, Kieron Evans, Dimitrios Goutas, Yakou Méïté, Ralls and now Rinomhota will leave. We could be set for a busy summer as the club prepare for League One.

Joe Ralls to leave Cardiff City after 15 years as Brian Barry-Murphy makes first big call

Joe Ralls to leave Cardiff City after 15 years as Brian Barry-Murphy makes first big call The midfielder and club captain will leave the club he joined back in 2010 Joe Ralls of Cardiff City (Image: Huw Evans Picture Agency ) Cardiff City legend Joe Ralls will officially leave the club at the end of this month, putting an end to his 15-year career with the Bluebirds. It is understood club captain Ralls, 31, held talks with new manager Brian Barry-Murphy this week and it was decided that the midfielder would leave upon the completion of his contract at the end of this month. He made 409 appearances for Cardiff, scored 34 goals and helped the club to two Premier League promotions during his stellar stint in the Welsh capital. ‌ It is a mark of the man that, even knowing he would fall one game short of triggering an automatic one-year extension, he still played the final two matches of last season not fully fit in a bid to help the club stay in the Championship. ‌ The decision to let Ralls leave is a major first call for new manager Barry-Murphy in the first week of his new job and perhaps points towards how he wants to shape his squad this summer and beyond. Ralls' industry, bite and leadership were all admirable qualities, however the Irishman clearly wants to go a different way in terms of the technical make-up of that midfield. Join the Cardiff City breaking news and top stories WhatsApp community On a similar note, it is also understood that Andy Rinomhota, who this year won the Players' Player of the Season, is likely to leave this month, too. Article continues below It is rare for one player to have such longevity in football these days and he will doubtless leave with the best wishes of the Bluebirds faithful and, indeed, owner Vincent Tan. "Players like Joe Ralls don't come around very often in the modern game. Joe has displayed incredible loyalty and love throughout his 15 years here," Tan said in a statement. "Whether it has been in the midfield, or showing leadership behind the scenes, and always joining in with our community, he has been a figurehead and a gentleman in everything he does. He has the respect of everyone at Cardiff City Football Club. Thank you, Joe." ‌ Ralls features in the top 10 of all-time appearance-makers for Cardiff City. He would have climbed higher in that list, too, were it not for his injury record over recent seasons. But with a new manager at the helm and the club readying themselves for the unfamiliar challenge of League One, all parties decided this was the best call in the interest of Cardiff City moving forward. It is understood the player already has offers on the table. "It has been a great pleasure to work with a consummate professional and wonderful human in Joe," said chairman Mehmet Dalman. ‌ 'He has led by example every single day. We wish nothing but the utmost success to Joe for the remainder of his playing career and thank him immensely for his efforts with the club.' CEO and executive director Ken Choo said: 'Joe has been a wonderful representative for our football club over the past 15 years. His story from the academy to leading the team is a great inspiration to those coming through. 'I'd like to personally thank Joe for everything he has done for Cardiff City and wish him luck in the future.' Article continues below The club have already confirmed Aaron Ramsey, Jamilu Collins, Raheem Conte, Anwar El Ghazi, Kieron Evans, Dimitrios Goutas and Yakou Méïté will leave this month, too, with Rinomhota also likely to join that group. ‘There might be some issues' – Championship club could be forced to leave beloved 27,111-seater stadium for third time

CHARLTON ATHLETIC managing director Jim Rodwell has not ruled out the club leaving The Valley. The Addicks are back in the Championship for the first time since 2020 next season. 2 2 Nathan Jones masterminded a charge up the League One table after Christmas, eventually beating Leyton Orient in the playoff final. But Charlton continue to be dogged by questions over the future of their South London ground. The Valley is under the control of the club's former owner Roland Duchatelet. He sold the club six years ago but retained ownership of the 27,111-seat stadium and the club's training ground. A 15-year lease was signed by the club in 2021, with 11 years remaining before it expires. The EFL require clubs to have at least ten years left on a stadium lease. Charlton director Rodwell admits talks are ongoing with Duchatelet over an extension. But he did not rule out the possibility that the club could eventually have to leave the site - home to the club for most of their 106-year existence. He told talkSPORT: "Yes, Mr Duchatelet, or his company, do still own the stadium and training ground. "We've made no secret of the fact we would like to buy the stadium or enter into a longer term lease on the right terms. EFL club release 'gorgeous work of art' kit and even rival fans want to buy it "Those conversations are ongoing. We have a considerable period of time left. I know fans like certainty and so do businessmen. 'It's always a possibility [we will have to move]. I think the desire would be to stay at The Valley. "It's a brilliant ground and great atmosphere. It's fit for purpose." He added: "Our [lease] is getting down to [ten years], so there might be some issues there." Charlton left The Valley between 1923 and 1924 for nearby Catford. They played at the now-demolished Mount Stadium, before a proposed merger with Catford Southend FC fell through. Charlton left the Valley again in 1985 after the ground fell into disrepair and the club's debts spiralled. They ground-shared with Crystal Palace before a triumphant return to a completely renovated stadium in December 1992. Rodwell continued: "What is The Valley actually worth? It's worth a lot to Charlton but probably not a lot to a developer. "What else could you stick on there? "I'm always a great believer that commercial reality would hit home. "There's always a deal to be done there. Talks are ongoing. They have been conducted in the right spirit."
