2026 BMW i4 Will Gain Longer Range from a More Efficient Inverter
BMW is updating the 2026 i4 lineup with myriad changes that affect range and output.
New semiconductor components for the inverter improve efficiency and increase the i4's range estimate by about 5 percent.
Starting in 2026, the range-topping i4 M50 will turn into the i4 M60 and get an additional 56 hp, bringing it up to 592 horsepower.
Before the i3 shows up with its updated Neue Klasse design, BMW is updating the i4 electric sedan with improved range and output figures.
The updated i4's inverter will utilize new silicon-carbide semiconductor components, which BMW claims will reduce energy consumption by roughly 5 percent. The saved energy comes out to about 14 miles of additional range from a full charge, though your literal mileage may vary based on trim and equipment.

As things currently stand, the rear-drive eDrive40 gets an estimated 301 miles of range from a full charge. The AWD xDrive40 gets an estimated 307 miles when equipped with 18-inch wheels, or 307 when wearing 19-inch shoes. The current range-topping M50 earns just 245 miles, according to EPA estimates.
Along with improved efficiency, BMW is also boosting the i4's performance—at least at the top end of the range. The M50 model that served as the flagship trim for the previous four model years is gone. It's being replaced by a new M60 trim, which can unlock a maximum of 592 horsepower in Sport mode, bringing the total output up by 56 hp compared with the old M50.

A spokesperson for BMW confirmed to Car and Driver that while the brand is instituting the updates this summer in Europe, U.S. production won't start until the fourth quarter. As a result, the updates won't show up until the 2026 model year. Pricing and official range figures will come out closer to the on-sale date.

According to a post on the official Nothing Community forum, the update introduces Privacy space: a new secure area on your phone for sensitive apps and data. You can access it by swiping right in the app drawer, and it works much like the feature seen on other Android phones, requiring separate authentication and keeping apps isolated from the rest of the system. You can also set a different privacy password for both the new Privacy space and the existing App Locker. The update also brings a revamped Hotspot Manager for controlling connected devices, fixes an issue with the Glyph Composer lighting effect, and lets users disable face unlock vibrations via a new toggle. As expected, the June 2025 Android security patch is included, as well as other big fixes. This could be one of the last feature-rich updates for the Nothing Phone 1. Nothing previously confirmed to Android Authority that the device won't get Android 16, as it has already received its three promised OS upgrades. Security patches will continue for a bit longer, but new feature rollouts will likely start tapering off without the latest OS support. Initial user reactions to the Nothing post in the comments are mixed. The Koru is a 417-foot sailing yacht, the second-largest of its kind in the world, meaning it would need to be anchored away from Venice's Grand Canal due to its size. Olympic leader Bach's $350,000 pay package in 2024 trails far behind soccer's elected leaders

The sum included a salary-like payment — or 'indemnity' in Olympic language — of 275,000 euros ($317,000), according to its annual report Friday. That is a relatively small figure compared to soccer bodies that, like the IOC, are based in Switzerland and count annual revenue in billions. Bach on Monday will formally hand over to president-elect Kirsty Coventry , who will start an eight-year initial term as the Olympic body's first female leader, and first from Africa. The IOC has classed the 71-year-old Bach as a volunteer on a full-time executive mission who 'should not have to finance activities related to his function from his personal savings.' Bach's earnings were less than 10% of what soccer gives its top elected officials. FIFA paid its president Gianni Infantino $5.2 million in taxable salary and bonus last year, plus other expenses. He is also among the 109 IOC members and can claim $7,000 each year for office costs and $450 daily allowance when on Olympic business.
