Metro dismisses fake TMPD recruitment ads
The Tshwane metro has recently issued a statement warning residents regarding a fraudulent advert circulating for this year's Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) intake.
In a statement issued by the metro, the ads were denounced, and the public was assured that no such advert had been sanctioned.
The ad is a flyer which features an altered image of the Mayor of Tshwane, Dr Nasiphi Moya. It states that the recruitment drive involves the intake of 200 trainees for the TMPD, which is taking place from June 15 and closing on July 31.
The metro said that the unauthorised use of the mayor's image is a clear violation of municipal branding protocols and is intended to falsely legitimise the scam.
It also assured residents that there is no current TMPD recruitment process matching these dates or details.
'This disinformation campaign is an attempt to exploit job seekers and tarnish the reputation of the city's official recruitment processes. All legitimate municipal vacancies and training opportunities are only advertised through formal and verified communication channels, including newspapers and the city's official website: www.tshwane.gov.za, specifically under the Job Forum and E-Recruitment portals. Any recruitment process outside of these channels should be treated as a scam,' the statement read.
The metro urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious job advertisements to the relevant authorities.
Under no circumstances should residents share their personal information or make any form of payment in response to this fraudulent flyer.
The metro reiterates that the flyer in circulation is fake news and should not be entertained or acted upon.

Residents are encouraged to verify all official information directly with the municipality to avoid falling victim to scams.

Tshwane mayor vows to fix city's leasing system as illegal business closed during raid
Moya complained that business that were previously shut down by the City of Tshwane have reopened. While the City of Tshwane had its hands full with prolonged power outages and the switching on and off of its own reservoir, Mayor Nasiphi Moya was out on the streets this week with the Reclaim Our City campaign, which resulted in two arrests, illegal businesses being closed and notices issued. We were here a few months back and some of those we closed managed to reopen. We are closing them down again,' she said. Moya said the Sunnyside precinct is a strategic area that will be offered to the private sector for investment. 'All illegal businesses here will be evicted from this area. Another store we've closed. The people running this establishment supply food concoctions to predominantly Ethiopian nationals. There's no compliance with health regulations. They also don't have certification legalising the operation of a business. 'This man runs a spaza shop in Sunnyside. His visa states that he is an asylum seeker and, by law, he doesn't qualify to run a business in this city. He can only work and study in South Africa. But here he is overseeing a business operation. Three other premises were found to have illegal electricity connections, while one was found with an illegal water connection. 11-year-old girl and her elder sibling shot near Hazyview An 11-year-old girl and her sister, aged 21, are fighting for their lives in a hospital after they were shot while sleeping in a room. The incident happened in Hlangalezwe Trust near Hazyview today (Friday, June 20) at about 02:00. The elder victim was asleep next to her mother in the same bed, while the little girl and her brother were sleeping on the floor in the same room. Two bullets hit the elder sister on her upper body and one bullet hit the younger one on the lower body,' said Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Jabu Ndubane. 'After the gunshots were fired the victims heard footsteps of a person running away,' added Ndubane. The victims were rushed to hospital where they are currently receiving medical attention. The police have opened two cases of attempted murder. Mogale City warns of fake housing applications and illegal land grabs
Mogale City Local Municipality is aware of ongoing fraudulent activities in the community, including false applications for housing opportunities and coordinated attempts to occupy land illegally. Mayoral spokesperson Palesa Molefe said these actions are not only unlawful but also compromise the municipality's developmental agenda and its efforts to ensure orderly spatial planning and equitable access to services. 'We wish to categorically state that no individual or organisation has been authorised by the municipality to facilitate informal housing applications or allocate land. 'We must collectively guard against the resurgence of informal settlements and the unlawful occupation of municipal land.
