Robin Goodfellow's racing tips: Best bets for Saturday, June 7

Daily Mail06-06-2025

Mail Sport's racing expert Robin Goodfellow delivers his tips for Saturday's meetings at Musselburgh, Epsom Downs, Worcester, Doncaster, Hexham, Chepstow and Lingfield.
RUBY'S PROFIT (NB) has the ideal draw (Epsom 2.10).
From stall 18, she can use the blistering pace she has shown on her three starts this season — winning twice and finishing runner-up in the other — to get to the nearside rail and lead.
DEMOCRACY DILEMMA (NAP) will relish the five-furlong downhill speed test (Epsom 2.45) and can go one better than last year, despite racing off 2lb higher. He drops back into handicap company for the first time in five runs.
CHRIS BAKER'S WIZARD OF ODDS
1.00 Epsom: ROYAL DRESS went close in this race last year before going on to land a Group Three contest in Ireland. She made a pleasing return to action in a higher grade last month.
2.45 Epsom: CLARENDON HOUSE was second in this race two years ago, while nothing went to plan in last year's renewal. He has since won two Listed races and is in good form.
4.15 Epsom: FOURONEOHFEVER enjoyed a productive 2024, including a placed effort in a Royal Ascot handicap. He is coming back to form and should have his ideal ground.

Nuno Espirito Santo signs new contract but Nottingham Forest appear to make gaffe in statement announcing it

NOTTINGHAM FOREST appeared to make a major gaffe in their announcing of Nuno Espirito Santo's new contract. Forest, surprisingly, announced a new deal for their Portuguese gaffer early on Saturday morning. 3 3 3 The former Porto and Spurs boss has inked a new three-year deal at the City Ground, although you wouldn't have known it if you looked at the Midlands club's website. Eagle-eyed fans spotted that Forest had mistakenly stated that Nuno inked an "x-year deal" in their statement announcing the new contract. A snippet of the club's official statement read: " Nottingham Forest is delighted to announce that Nuno Espírito Santo has signed a new contract with the Club. "The Forest Head Coach has been handed a new x-year deal by owner Evangelos Marinakis ahead of the 2025/26 campaign." Nuno, 51, is over the moon to have extended his stay at the City Ground, which is set to host UEFA Conference League football this coming season. He said: "I am delighted to be able to continue our journey at this fantastic football Club. 'Since we arrived at Forest, we have worked extremely hard to create a special bond between the players, the fans and everyone at the Club, which helped us achieve great things last season. "I would like to thank our owner, Mr. Marinakis, for his constant support and backing. 'Now is the time to work harder than ever as we strive for more special memories together.' Marinakis said of the new deal: "Nuno has made a great impact and performed very well during his time with us so far. 'He has demonstrated that he maximises player performance and is an expert at developing players, whilst also embedding our young talent into the first team set-up. 'We enjoy a strong and solid relationship together and, above all, we share the same dream and ambition of writing a new history for Nottingham Forest, competing in the Premier League and in Europe and winning trophies for our great club!' Forest will kick off their Premier League season on Saturday, August 17, away to Brighton. The Tricky Trees will play the first leg of their Conference League play-off on August 21.

Nuno extends Nottingham Forest contract until 2028

June 21 (Reuters) - Manager Nuno Espirito Santo has extended his contract with Nottingham Forest until the summer of 2028 after helping the club qualify for a European competition for the first time since 1995-96, the Premier League club said on Saturday. Portuguese Nuno, who previously managed Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur, joined Forest in December 2023 and helped the team avoid relegation before guiding them to a seventh-place finish in 2024-25, their best top-flight campaign in three decades. Forest narrowly missed out on a Champions League spot as they finished a point below fifth-placed Newcastle United, settling for a place in the Conference League's playoff round. "I am delighted to be able to continue our journey at this fantastic football club," Nuno said in a statement after signing the new three-year deal. "We have worked extremely hard to create a special bond between the players, the fans and everyone at the club, which helped us achieve great things last season. Now is the time to work harder than ever as we strive for more special memories together."
