Delhi govt plans to roll out EV Policy 2.0 by next month

Electric Vehicle Policy
2.0 by next month.
He was speaking at the
Urban Adda 2025
, a three-day national urban dialogue hosted by Raahgiri Foundation in collaboration with the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) and GuruJal, supported by Nagarro.
The Delhi government plans to roll out the EV Policy 2.0 by next month, a statement quoted Singh as saying.
"I can't publicly discuss the specifics yet because the Cabinet is still reviewing it," he said, adding "...we've brought in a committee of experts, and we will go ahead with their conclusions".
In April, the Delhi government approved an extension of the Electric Vehicle Policy by three months.
The EV policy has been extended multiple times under the previous AAP regime and the current government led by the BJP.
The policy was launched in August 2020 as one of the key initiatives of the previous AAP government to tackle vehicular pollution and push the adoption of electric vehicles.
Singh said the Delhi government is revamping Delhi's transport system completely.
"The previous regime left behind a heavy burden, but I promise, there will be no bus shortage by the end of this year," he said.
The number of buses doesn't matter, what matters is quality, safety, and service, he added.
Singh also termed the DEVI Bus Service as a major success.
"These aren't just electric buses, they're centrally connected via GPS and onboard cameras to ensure commuter safety. We're heavily investing in route rationalisation to guarantee last-mile connectivity, and we're phasing out older buses to replace them with EVs," he added.
The minister also announced plans for a legal framework to prosecute all categories of traffic violations and emphasised the importance of pedestrian safety, clean air, and data-led transport governance.

He stated that India's social and communal unity was targeted through the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor was a clear message to Pakistan that it will face the consequences for supporting terror activities against India. 'Operation Sindoor is the natural progression of the surgical strike of 2016 and the air strike of 2019. It was executed in such a way that Pakistan requested for a ceasefire, and only then have we put a pause to the operation. As I have said earlier, Operation Sindoor is not over yet. India is fully prepared to take all kinds of action against terrorism,' said Singh. He said when the nation is celebrating International Day of Yoga, it should remember the true meaning of the practice, which is to connect every section of society with the culture and soul of India. 'If even one section is left behind, the wheel of unity and security is broken. Therefore, today, we should perform yoga at the level of society and thought and not just body,' he said. He appreciated the inclination of the armed forces personnel towards yoga which has a direct impact on their discipline and focus. Through Yoga, India has given the world a tool which is beyond any border, religion, and culture, he said. The event was attended by Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command Lt Gen Pratik Sharma.

NEW DELHI: Operation Sindoor is the natural progression of the 2016 surgical strikes and the 2019 Balakot airstrikes in Pakistan, and it was conducted in a manner that forced Islamabad to ask for a ceasefire, defence minister Rajnath Singh said on Saturday, articulating India's firm resolve to fight terrorism. The army's Northern Command based in Udhampur is the nerve centre of counterterrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir. India launched the operation in the early hours of May 7 and struck terror and military installations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) following the Pahalgam terror strike in which 26 people were shot dead. It triggered a four-day military confrontation with Pakistan involving fighter jets, missiles, drones, long-range weapons and heavy artillery before the two sides reached an understanding on stopping all military action on May 10. Singh led the armed forces' yoga day celebrations, with around 2,500 soldiers taking part in the Northern Command event. Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi and Northern Army commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma were present. 'Yoga gives clarity to the people in chaos. Sharma and Usman were posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra and the Maha Vir Chakra, respectively --- the country's highest and second highest wartime honours.

‘War on Drugs': Punjab Cabinet gives formal approval to panel overseeing campaign against drug abuse
Even as the Punjab Cabinet also gave ex-post facto approval for the constitution of the high-powered cabinet sub-committee to intensify the 'War on Drugs' program, the Congress party came down heavily on the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing it of seeking publicity for its 'unsuccessful war against drugs.' On Saturday (June 21, 2025), the Punjab cabinet, in its meeting held in Chandigarh, chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, gave ex-post facto approval for the constitution of the high-powered cabinet sub-committee to intensify the 'War on Drugs' program of the State of Punjab. 'This move will further help in day-to-day scrutiny of the ongoing war against drugs, thereby making Punjab free from the menace of drugs and weaning away the youth of the state from this scourge,' said an official statement from the Chief Minister's office. Terming the AAP's war against drugs campaign as unsuccessful, the leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, Congress's Partap Singh Bajwa, said, 'The AAP claimed that they successfully disrupted the supply chain of drugs, primarily heroin, during the first phase of the three-month campaign that ended in May. This claim is highly misleading. The drug supply chain remains intact, and Punjabi youth, including women, continue to abuse drugs, with overdose-related deaths still occurring. The AAP government has failed in the first phase of its fight against drugs.' He accused the AAP government of seeking publicity for its unsuccessful war against drugs. 'The AAP appears to be in a rush to prove it has tackled the drug issue. However, the reality on the ground is quite the opposite,' he added. Separately, the cabinet gave a nod to recruit 500 vacant posts of Assistant Superintendents, warders and matrons under the direct recruitment quota in the Jails Department. 'This move will act as a catalyst in further streamlining the functioning of the jails besides helping in making them safe and secure,' added the government statement.
