Why actors don't talk about Operation Sindoor?
Suniel Shetty's work
Veteran actor Suniel Shetty , long known for his patriotic on-screen roles, is now making headlines for his off-screen candor. While many in Bollywood have chosen to remain silent on India's recent Operation Sindoor—targeting Pakistan-based terror camps—Shetty has stepped forward with a bold take on why the silence exists. In an exclusive interview with India Today, the actor offered a rare glimpse into the cautious mindset of the film industry, and why he refuses to follow that path. While promoting his latest film Kesari Veer , Suniel Shetty opened up about why many actors in the industry choose to stay silent on national issues like Operation Sindoor. He believes that their hesitation doesn't stem from fear of backlash or losing fan support, but from the worry that they'll be perceived as politically inclined.Shetty, however, made it clear that he has no political ambitions. His support for Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror camps, comes purely from his personal convictions and passion for the subject, something that also drew him to act in Kesari Veer. He emphasised that for him, patriotism and politics are two separate things. Unfortunately, in today's scenario, he feels that talking about the country often gets misinterpreted as aligning with the ruling party, a conflation he strongly disagrees with. With films like Border, Main Hoon Na, Dhadkan, and Hera Pheri under his belt, Shetty has been a constant presence in Indian cinema for decades. Currently, he is gearing up for Kesari Veer, an upcoming historical action drama set to hit theatres on May 23, 2025. Directed by Prince Dhiman and backed by Chauhan Studios, the film boasts an ensemble cast including Suniel Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Sooraj Pancholi , and Akanksha Sharma. The movie is a cinematic tribute to India's bravehearts.

Sunjay Kapur's Sister Reveals They Didn't Speak For Years 'Due To Ego'

Last Updated: Sunjay Kapur's sister shares heartfelt Instagram tribute, childhood photos, and emotional message after his sudden death. The late Sunjay Kapur's sister, Mandhira Kapur, shared a moving tribute on Instagram that struck a chord following the industrialist's sudden death due to a heart attack. Accompanied by sweet childhood photos, she began with a confession that her brother and she hadn't spoken for nearly four years, after a minor childhood argument escalated and left them emotionally distant. Sunjay Kapur's first wife Nandita Mahtani reacted with red heart emojis. She fondly remembered the good times they shared—talking late into the night, sneaking around, and laughing together as a close family. She deeply regretted growing apart from him and said he was always 'a true big brother and a friend." 'My brother and I may not have spoken for the last 4 years, a silly sibling squabble escalated to crazy levels due to egos and natural bullishness, however, that will never take back what we were and what we had," she wrote, adding, 'He always looked after me and my sister, a true big brother and a friend. What happened towards the end has been both horrible and pointless, I will never have my moments with him again. We will never be us and it is devastating that we didn't fix what had become broken and so now my heart is the same. I am sure he knew despite our recent estrangement that I loved him and in my soul I am sure he shared the same hope as I, that one day we would be as amazing as we were for the first 47 years. Of this I am sure and take some small comfort." She closed her post with a heartfelt plea to her followers: 'To anyone and everyone who has fallen out with someone they love, be it family or friend, please learn from my story, life is fragile and delicate, each day is a gift, do not miss a day even an hour in some fickleness, you can never be assured that you will have the opportunity to repair the void and if you don't, then that's pretty much all that is left, coupled with regret. I would give anything to just see my bhaiya one last time and tell him how much I love him." Sunjay Kapur Marriage Sunjay and Karisma tied the knot in 2003, in a lavish ceremony that became one of the most talked-about Bollywood weddings of its time. They had two children together: Samaira, born March 11, 2005, and Kiaan, born March 12, 2011. However, by 2014, cracks began to show, and the couple filed for divorce. Their marriage was officially dissolved in 2016. He soon found love again. In 2017, Sunjay married Priya Sachdev, a Delhi-based model known in elite social circles. The announcement comes two months after the deadly terror attack in Jammu Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22, 2025 and the subsequent Operation Sindoor, the air missile strikes carried out by the Indian armed forces on May 7, 2025 targeted on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack. Why Is Diljit Dosanjh Getting Brickbats For Co-Starring With Hania Aamir In Sardaar Ji 3 Instagram accounts of Hania Aamir and several other Pakistani stars, including Mahira Khan, Sanam Saeed, and Ali Zafar were blocked in India following a "legal request" in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack in April. Following the 2016 Uri attack, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) banned Pakistani actors from working in Indian films. Several film bodies in India, including the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), reiterated its stand against Pakistani artistes in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025. Hania Aamir was also criticised for anti-India remarks following Operation Sindoor. What The Internet Is Saying Many Diljit Dosanjh fans on social media were disappointed. This was Hania Aamir degrading our India during Op. Sindoor. He and some of our celebrities seriously deserve ban from our industry . Remember this before giving reach, views to this. — Chikorita☘️ (@Sam_Writes1) June 23, 2025 "This was Hania Aamir degrading our India during Op. Sindoor. So now Diljit drops a trailer with Hania Aamir the same actress who called Operation Sindoor "sinister"? No outrage. No boycott. Just vibes? Imagine the reaction if the roles were reversed. One of the users on X called Hania Aamir's casting in Sardaar Ji 3 "absolutely disgraceful". Absolutely disgraceful! 🚨 Hania Aamir's hypocrisy and Diljit Dosanjh's betrayal of Bharat Mata by cozying up to a Pakistani actress after Operation Sindoor's bold strike against terror are a slap in the face to every proud Indian! #BoycottDiljit #BanPakArtists #IndiaFirst Our… — Mind Mingle (@MarsLyricist6) June 23, 2025 "Hania Aamir's hypocrisy and Diljit Dosanjh's betrayal of Bharat Mata by cozying up to a Pakistani actress after Operation Sindoor's bold strike against terror are a slap in the face to every proud Indian! #BoycottDiljit #BanPakArtists #IndiaFirst Our jawans sacrificed their lives to protect us, and these so-called "stars" spit on that valor for cheap fame. There were also a handful who praised Diljit Dosanjh for his courage. Want to say - Hania Aamir & Diljit Dosanjh faced a lot of heat due to the recent Indian aggression. Diljit was under heavy pressure for starring a Pakistani, yet launched the movie despite not being permitted in India. What an absolute legend! — H'ur (@Hur1) June 22, 2025 Diljit Dosanjh And Hania Aamir's Association Last October, Hania Aamir, along with her friends, attended Diljit Dosanjh's London concert as part of his Dil-Luminati Tour. At the time, videos of Diljit Dosanjh inviting Hania Aamir to the stage of the O2 Arena and singing his popular song Lover for the star of Pakistani serials such as Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum and Mere Humsafar went viral on social media. Days after the show, Hania Aamir shared a series of pictures from the show and penned a heartfelt note for Diljit Dosanjh on Instagram. "Hona ni mai recover what a night," she began her post, referring to Lover. "It was magic. The love, the respect, the soul. Impeccable. Thank you for all your love and warmth @sonalisingh love and duas @kreposit thanks for capturing the moments (sic)" she had written on Instagram. In A Nutshell Diljit Dosanjh is in the middle of a controversy over co-starring with Pakistani star Hania Aamir in his new movie Sardaar Ji 3.
