15 lakh cyberattacks by Pak hackers on Indian websites, only 150 successful
Maharashtra cyber officials on Monday said that they have traced over 15 lakh cyberattacks targeting critical infrastructure websites across India to seven Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) groups. These accounts are primarily linked to Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and the Middle East, and the attacks intensified following the Pahalgam terror strike on April 22.Despite the high volume, only 150 attacks were successful. The officials also informed that the cyberattacks continued even after a ceasefire understanding between India and Pakistan, PTI said, citing officials.advertisement"The probe discovered that cyberattacks on (government websites in) India decreased after India-Pakistan ceased hostilities, but did not fully stop. A senior Maharashtra Cyber official refuted claims that hackers had breached Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, aviation systems, municipal networks or the Election Commission website.The officials have detailed a wave of cyberattacks in a new report titled "Road of Sindoor", named after an Indian military operation against terrorists. The report, submitted to key agencies including the Director General of Police and State Intelligence Department, outlines the scale and methods of the attacks.According to Additional Director General of Police Yashasvi Yadav, attack tactics included malware distribution, DDoS assaults, GPS spoofing, and website defacement. While many attacks were blocked, some targeted India's critical infrastructure.advertisement"Road of Sindoor" builds on an earlier report, "Echoes of Pahalgam", which examined cyber activity following the Pahalgam terror strike. The new findings identify seven hacking groups, these include APT 36, Pakistan Cyber Force, Team Insane PK, Mysterious Bangladesh, Indo Hacks Sec, Cyber Group HOAX 1337 and National Cyber Crew.The officials also highlighted that, of the 150 successful cyberattacks, the Kulgaon Badlapur Municipal Council website was defaced. In addition to this, the website of the Defence Nursing College in Jalandhar was defaced.Additionally, Pakistan-allied groups falsely claimed to have hacked India's banking system and caused power outages. Maharashtra Cyber has also taken down over 5,000 pieces of fake news and flagged 80 misinformation items for removal, urging the public to verify information via official sources.The Additional Director General of Police also informed that these fabricated narratives included claims of cyber attacks on India's power grid, satellite jamming, disruption of the Northern Command and an alleged attack on a BrahMos missile storage facility.Tune InMust Watch

NSA Ajit Doval plans China visit with tough message on terror
National security adviser ( NSA ) Ajit Doval is planning a China trip next week, his second to the northern neighbour since December, with an eye on delivering a tough message on terror and discussing measures on stabilising bilateral ties. Air India Plane crash: 9 days after tragedy, eight families continue to wait for DNA samples to match
The identities of at least eight victims who died in the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, are yet to be known as the DNA samples have not yet matched. The authorities have asked the families to submit a DNA sample of another relative as the previous ones failed to match. According to the details, DNA samples of 247 victims have been matched, and 232 bodies have been handed over to their families till Saturday, reported PTI. "Unless there is a match, bodies cannot be handed over to the kin," said Rakesh Joshi, medical superintendent, Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. Doctor Joshi said that since the DNA matching process is highly sensitive and involves legal protocols, it is being conducted with utmost seriousness and speed. "When there is no match for a longer period of time, then you can ask another sample from another relative. If one sibling has given the sample, then a sample of another sibling is sought for matching the DNA with that of the victim," he said. "We generally prefer a sample of father or son/daughter. If not, then we take a sample of another available member," Joshi added. To ease the lengthy process, Forensic Science University, along with associated institutions, local administrative authorities, the state government's health and other departments, and various agencies are working tirelessly. Ahmedabad-based filmmaker Mahesh Jirawala's mortal remains were handed over to his family only after the matching of DNA samples confirmed that he died in the catastrophe. He was reported missing following the June 12 air plane crash. Police said that through the matching of DNA samples it has been confirmed that filmmaker Jirawala has died in the plane crash. He was passing by from the area on his two-wheeler just when the London-bound plane plunged into a hostel complex. On 12 June, the London-bound Air India flight AI-171 carrying 242 passengers and crew members crashed in Ahmedabad moments after it off from the city airport. In the crash 241 were killed on board and 29 on the ground as the aircraft smashed into a medical complex in Meghaninagar. With some bodies were burnt beyond recognition or damaged otherwise, authorities are carrying out DNA tests to establish the identity of victims of the horrific tragedy. Relatives and friends gave an emotional farewell to Deepak Pathak and Irfan Shaikh, the two crew members of the ill-fated flight, in Maharashtra's Badlapur in Thane district and Pimpri-Chinchwad near Pune city, respectively. Deepak Pathak's body was consigned to flames at a crematorium in the presence of thousands of mourners. He had been serving the national carrier for the past 11 years and his identification was confirmed through DNA testing. While, Pimpri Chinchwad-based Shaikh family had received Irfan's remains after a DNA match on Friday. It was brought to Pune and his last rites were held at a graveyard in Nehru Nagar in the presence of family, neighbours, friends, and leaders from across political parties.

Air India begins disbursement of ₹25 lakh compensation to Ahmedabad crash victims' families, 3 receive payment so far
Air India has begun disbursing the interim compensation of ₹ 25 lakhs to Ahmedabad crash victims' families, with three families having received the payments so far, the airline said in a statement released on Saturday. The sum of ₹ 25 lakh is in addition to the ₹ 1 crore or approximately GBP 85,000 compensation, which the Tata Sons group had announced hours after the fatal crash. Air India also stated that it has been 'reaching out to those who were injured and the families of those who lost their lives on the ground to initiate the compensation process for them.' As many as 270 people were killed — including 241 people onboard the ill fated flight, 29 others on ground — after Air India's flight A1171 smashed into Ahmedabad's BJ Medical College Hostel on Thursday, June 12, reported PTI. Air India further added that families were being assisted through out the hospital processes, including DNA identification of the victims. The Superintendent of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital — where the bodies are being kept — Dr Rakesh Joshi said that the 247 victims who have been identified comprise 187 Indians, 52 Britons, seven Portuguese nationals and a Canadian. Of the 187 Indians, a total of 175 were on board the ill-fated aircraft and belonged to areas in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Diu and Nagaland. With the DNA identification process still underway, eight families who lost their near ones in the crash have been asked to submit the DNA sample of another relative as the previous ones failed to match.
