Indian defence delegation meets French officials in Paris; Rafale marine programme formally launched
Paris [France], June 21 (ANI): An Indian defence delegation led by Joint Secretary and Acquisition Manager (Maritime Systems) Dinesh Kumar met with French defence officials at the Paris Air Show on Thursday.
The French side was headed by Lt Gen Gael Diaz De Tuesta, Director General of Armament.
According to French defence officials, the meeting between the two sides also marked the formal launch of the Rafale marine programme, which already equips the Indian Air Force.
Meanwhile, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi on Thursday attended the 12th Key Leader Engagement, which was hosted virtually by US Navy's Pacific fleet Admiral Stephen T. Koehler.
Admiral Tripathi highlighted his vision on 'achieving maritime security in the Indo-Pacific through innovation and technology' in the Key Leader Engagement on Wednesday, which involved 19 nations.
The Indian Navy, in a post on X, said, 'Adm Dinesh K Tripathi, CNS, attended the 12th Key Leader Engagement hosted virtually by Adm Stephen T Koehler, @USPacificFleet, on Jun 25, involving 19 nations. CNS highlighted his vision on 'Achieving Maritime Security in the Indo-Pacific Through Innovation and Technology.'

Earlier, on June 13, Admiral Tripathi said that Operation Sindoor is on a pause, but it is an operation in progress.
Speaking to ANI, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi said, 'Operation Sindoor is under pause; it is still underway. As a naval chief, I will reserve my comments on this. It's an operation in progress.'
He also commented on evolving warfare technology, particularly non-contact warfare and counter-drone systems, underscoring their growing importance.
On counter-drone systems, he said that non-contact warfare will stay, and this area of weapons and equipment was not catered to 10-12 years ago.
'It is undeniable that non-contact warfare is going to stay. In it, drones and loitering munitions, and therefore defence against them in terms of counter-drone systems, there is a whole series of weapons and equipment that one had probably not catered for 10-12 years ago,' he said on Thursday.
Reinforcing the focus on indigenous defence capabilities, Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, accompanied by Chairman of Solar Industries India Limited, Satyanarayan Nuwal, reviewed the manufacturing processes of various defence products at the firm's headquarters in Nagpur.
Speaking to ANI, the Navy Chief lauded the products and progress made by Solar Industries India Ltd. He added that there needs to be synergy between the public and private sectors, as the latter is new in defence production.
'It's really eye-opening to see what progress has been made by Solar (Solar Group) in the last 14-15 years. As far as the synergy between the public and private sectors in the defence ecosystem is concerned, it is a must because some public sector companies have been working in this field for many decades, and private companies are relatively new. So there is a need for them to talk to each other and learn from each other,' Admiral Tripathi told ANI.
Chairman of Solar Industries India Ltd, Satyanarayan Nuwal, said that they showed the Navy Chief their drones and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) and also showed the Navy officials their Counter-Unmanned Aerial System, Bhargavastra.
Talking to ANI, Satyanarayan Nuwal said, 'Today, we mainly showed our facility with drones and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). We showed the composite manufacturing unit of UAS. We also showed Bhargavastra (Counter-Unmanned Aerial System) to them... This counter-drone system is a significant thing... Considering present situations, we learnt that the biggest need is for long-range missiles. We have already presented a proposal in this regard...' (ANI)

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], June 22 (ANI): AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday launched a blistering attack on Pakistan's earlier pitch for a Nobel Peace Prize for US President Donald Trump, following America's airstrikes on Iran's key nuclear facilities. The Lok Sabha MP questioned whether Pakistan had supported Trump only to see him drop bombs on a sovereign nation. 'We should ask Pakistanis if for this they want Trump to get a Nobel Peace Prize...' Owaisi said in Hyderabad, referring to the strikes carried out by the United States on Iran's nuclear sites in Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow. The AIMIM leader further mocked Pakistan's military leadership, saying, '...Did Pakistan's General (Army chief Asim Munir) have lunch with the US president for this? They all have been exposed today.' Slamming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Owaisi said, 'This attack by the US has helped Netanyahu, who is a butcher of Palestinians... A genocide is happening in Gaza, and the US is not worried about it.' He said, 'This man (Netanyahu), he has butchered Palestinians... He is doing ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in the West Bank and in Gaza. History will remember him as the butcher of Palestinians.' Owaisi also warned of serious consequences for India if a full-scale war breaks out in the region. 'We must also remember that more than 16 million Indians live in the Gulf and Middle East, and if that area erupts in a war, which unfortunately is very likely, then it will have a grave impact on the Indians living there,' he told ANI. The US publication reported that after Pakistan announced the nomination, Trump shared a grim outlook on his chances of obtaining recognition from an international award for conflict intervention hours after securing a treaty between Rwanda and the Congo. 'No, I won't get a Nobel Peace Prize no matter what I do, including Russia/Ukraine, and Israel/Iran, whatever those outcomes may be, but the people know, and that's all that matters to me!' "This is an escalation": Foreign Affairs Expert Robinder Sachdev after US strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities
New Delhi [India], June 22 (ANI): Foreign Affairs Expert Robinder Sachdev on Sunday described the US strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities as an escalation to the week old Israel-Iran conflict, warning that the situation is likely to deteriorate further. His comments come in the wake of recent US airstrikes targeting three key Iranian nuclear facilities, including Fordow, Iran's main enrichment location for uranium enrichment to 60 per cent. 'This is an escalation, and it seems there will be no end; the situation will worsen, go up and down. It seems that the region of the Middle East will now be plunged into Forever Wars... Iran will fight back with whatever resources it has. It will retaliate. However, it doesn't have much capacity, but it will still attempt to do its best,' he told ANI. Sachdev said that US President Donald Trump's claim of eliminating the entire nuclear programme of Iran is 'wrong'. 'Donald Trump is correct in saying that tonight's attack was a spectacular attack by the American Armed forces, but he is wrong in saying that this attack has eliminated the entire nuclear programme of Iran; it has not...... The Iranians have already trandffered Uranium though it is not weapon grade but whatever enriched uranium they had, it seems they have distributed and hidden in some other locations but yes, a major blow to Iran's nuclear programme has been delivered but it does not mean that the entire nuclear programme of Iran has been obliterated,' he added. He further said that Iran's attempt to close the Strait of Hormuz could lead India to suffer, as according to him, about 20 per cent of the world's crude oil and 25 per cent of the world's natural gas flow through one of the world's most important oil chokepoints located between Oman and Iran, connecting the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. '...If Iran closes the Strait of Hormuz, India will definitely suffer. About 20 per cent of the world's crude oil and 25 per cent of the world's natural gas flow through these. Qatar's gas, which we buy, almost all flows through this. 70 per cent of Saudi oil comes through the Strait of Hormuz,' Sachdev said. 'India will suffer because oil prices will go up, inflation will rise, and there is an estimate that for every ten-dollar increase in the price of crude oil, India's GDP will suffer by 0.5 per cent,' the Foreign affairs expert added. After Northrop Grumman-made B-2 Spirit bombers struck nuclear facilities in Natanz, Isfahan and Fordow, Trump, in his first public remarks, warned that he could order further action if Tehran does not agree to a satisfactory peace agreement. In his address to the nation from the White House on Saturday (local time), Trump said, 'There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran, far greater than we've witnessed over the last eight days.' In a Truth Social post, Trump said, 'This cannot continue. There will be either peace or there will be a tragedy for Iran far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days. Remember, there are many targets left. Tonight's was the most difficult of them all, by far, and perhaps the most lethal. But if peace does not come quickly, we will go after those other targets with precision, speed and skill.' Trump also thanked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and said, 'I want to thank Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu. "Time for India to be more vigilant," says defence expert as US joins Israel-Iran conflict
New Delhi [India], June 22 (ANI): As the United States has escalated its involvement in the Israel-Iran conflict by striking three key nuclear facilities in Iran, defence expert Praful Bakshi on Sunday emphasised the critical role India could play in helping deescalate the ongoing conflict, highlighting how Prime Minister Narendra Modi could leverage the friendly relations between the two nations and push for a peaceful resolution. 'For India, it's a time to be more vigilant. Both Iran and Israel are our friends. With Israel, we have an emotional connection...a personality like PM Modi, I think, will raise this issue with both sides to end this war,' Bakshi told ANI. Bakshi also highlighted how the strikes on nuclear facilities Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan have signalled to Iran that the US is 'serious now,' comparing it to a predator who hunts their prey no matter what, and suggested that President Donald Trump will keep doing similar acts. 'Iran now understands that America is serious. Once America finds its prey, the way it does in Iraq, even if the prey is not at fault, the hunter will do what it does; President Trump will keep doing this,' he said. The defence expert also indicated that the strikes served as a warning to China and Russia, who have been supportive of Iran. Earlier today, in his first public address since carrying out 'precision' strikes in Iran, US President Donald Trump warned that he could order further action if Tehran does not agree to a satisfactory peace agreement. 'There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran, far greater than we've witnessed over the last eight days,' Trump said. While talking about the strikes in a post on Truth Social, Trump said, 'This cannot continue. There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days.' Trump also thanked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and said, 'I want to thank Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu. We worked as a team like perhaps no team has ever worked before, and we've gone a long way to erasing this horrible threat to Israel.' Top brass of the American political leadership stood beside Trump as he delivered the remarks-- Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth.
