CBN sub-inspector found dead in hotel room
Indore: A sub-inspector of the
Central Bureau of Narcotics
posted at an opium weighing centre in
Neemuch Cantonment
area died under suspicious circumstances on Saturday. He was staying at Hotel Amrapali, located near the medical college, close to the weighing centre.
Neemuch Cantonment police station in charge Pushpa Chauhan confirmed that SI Ajay Kumar was involved in weighing of poppy capsules under the CPS system at the opium centre. She stated that he ate dinner on Friday night and then went to sleep but did not wake up the next morning.
When Kumar did not respond in the morning, other officials from the CBN forced open the door of his room, and found him lying lifeless. Emergency services were called in. His body was shifted to an ambulance and then taken for a postmortem examination around 10am.
During inspection of the hotel room, police found traces of vomiting, raising suspicion that he may have consumed some poisonous substance. Officers from the CBN, along with the police, were present at the scene. A forensic examination of the crime scene was also conducted. The sudden death left the deceased officer's family in shock.
Chauhan also mentioned that an investigation was underway to determine whether there were any suspicious elements involved. The room was sealed and further inquiry was on to uncover the exact cause of death.

The association suggests that the govt should directly buy and fairly compensate for all by-products like doda chura, comparing it to how no one expects farmers to manage cow dung after consuming the milk. The Central Bureau of Narcotics issues licences to farmers for opium cultivation and is the sole authority responsible for its procurement. They have also urged the govt to prevent opium cultivation from falling into the hands of private companies and called for a CBI probe into the operations of the narcotics department between 2015 and 2025. The farmers stressed that adopting their suggestions would "ensure economic freedom for the country, prosperity for farmers, and affordable medicines for patients, in line with the PM's 'Make in India, Made by Farmers' vision."

Mukhiya, ward member candidate shot dead in Lakhisarai
Patna: A mukhiya and ward member candidate were shot dead by unidentified assailants at Balipur village in Pipariya police station area of Lakhisarai district late on Tuesday night. Preliminary investigation by police suggests that they were shot dead over some old enmity. Three persons were detained for interrogation by a special investigation team (SIT) formed in the case, police said. Munger range DIG Rakesh Kumar, who visited the spot along with Lakhisarai superintehdent of police (SP) Ajay Kumar and Sadar SDPO Shivam Kumar, said the incident occurred when village head Chandan Kumar Singh, aka Domu, and Chandan Kumar were returning home from a memorial feast (shradh bhoj) late in the night. They had barely covered 50m, the attackers, who lay in wait, opened fire multiple times on the duo, before fleeing the scene, added Kumar. The mukhiya sustained six bullet wounds, while the ward member candidate was hit by two bullets. The local residents, upon hearing the gunshots, reached the spot and rushed both the victims to Lakhisarai Sadar Hospital, where the doctors declared them dead on arrival. The deceased also had criminal history with around 12 cases registered against them at the Pipariya police station. The police are investigating all angles, including the land dispute and personal enmity," the DIG said. Lakhisarai SP Ajay Kumar said that the exact reason for the murders and the identities of the perpetrators are yet to be established. A police team, along with a dog squad, was deployed at the scene to collect evidence. Both the victims were shot dead in a planned attack, SP Kumar told reporters. As of now, no formal complaint was filed by the victims' families.
