Tosh McKinlay excited by return of 'world-class' Kieran Tierney to Celtic
Tosh McKinlay says the sight of 'world-class' Kieran Tierney in green and white hoops again will have Celtic supporters excited for next season.
The 28-year-old Scotland defender has returned to Parkhead after six years in the English Premier League with Arsenal.
Former Hoops star McKinlay, who played in the same position as Tierney, is looking forward to seeing someone he rates very highly gracing the Celtic Park pitch once again by marauding down the wing and 'playing for the badge'.
Speaking on Wednesday at the Taxi To Troon charity event in Glasgow, where he was representing the club and handing over a £7,000 cheque from the Celtic Foundation, he said: 'As far as I am concerned Kieran (Tierney) is a world class player and I am really looking forward to seeing him getting the hoops back on, and I'm sure the supporters are as well.
'When he's marauding up and down that left hand side, it will be fantastic.
'He's obviously had a spell in England and done very well, but I think he has always been looking to get back to Celtic Park, and everyone is looking forward to seeing him back in the strip again.
'It's in his blood, and it means a bit more when you're playing for the badge.'
Greg Taylor has been Celtic's first choice left-back for the last five seasons, but his future is currently uncertain, with his contract coming to an end this month.
He has been linked with a move abroad, but McKinlay is still holding out hope that he will decide to stay and compete with Tierney for the position.
'Special mention to Greg, I think he's been fantastic over the years and obviously it's still to be confirmed if he will be staying or going, but it would be great if he stayed and give Kieran some competition for that left back spot.
'He has been fantastic over this period of five or six years, and I'm sure he'll be wanting to stay as well.'

Thomas Frank shows his true colours over Ange Postecoglou as new Tottenham boss makes feelings clear
The former Brentford manager was hired by Daniel Levy to take over from the ex-Celtic gaffer in North London Thomas Frank has spoken out on Ange Postecoglou as part of his first interview as Tottenham's new manager – hailing him as a legend. The former Celtic boss delivered on his second season trophy promise as he sparked wild scenes in Bilbao by defeating Manchester United in the Europa League Final and ending the long wait for silverware in North London. The triumph also booked a golden ticket to the Champions League this season and landed Spurs a mega windfall in the process. However, a 17th place finish in the English Premier League - despite the success in Europe's second tier competition - proved to much for Daniel Levy and club bosses as they decided to axe Ange after two seasons at the club. They moved quickly and turned attentions to Brentford boss Frank and got a deal over the line with the Bees. Now, the new Spurs boss has spoken for the first time since taking up his new position and he has shown his true colours over the man he has replaced. Speaking as part of an in-house interview, Frank said: "I think Ange has done something special. He'll forever be a legend in Tottenham. "It's important to understand we all stand on the shoulders of others. "I'm going in on the foundation Ange built, and his coaching staff, and I'm very humble about that. "I'll do my very best to continue the great work he put in. "The feeling, the excitement, the joy and the happiness in the fans' faces, the pictures were 'wow'. "Hopefully, we can create more of those moments. That will be the ultimate dream: to do that and build on that." Tottenham kick off the new season at home to Burnley but before that EPL showdown they have the small matter of fighting PSG in the Super Cup with more silverware on the line before the campaign even gets up and running. Ange has already been linked with a quick-fire return to the dugout in Saudi as he ponders his next steps. What Conor Coady really thinks about Rangers transfer as target ready to show Brendan Rodgers what he passed on
Coady is a target for Rangers and has previous with Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers ahead of a reunion in Glasgow Conor Coady admitted Brendan Rodgers pushing him out on loan was a turning point in his early career – as he gears up to show his former boss the player he's turned into. The defender is a target for new Rangers boss Russell Martin who is desperately in need of defensive reinforcements before their first Champions League qualifier with Panathinaikos, which is coming up fast. News of John Souttar's surgery might have catapulted Coady to top priority status with Robin Propper, Clinton Nsiala, Ben Davies and Leon King the only central defensive options if Souttar is unavailable. If the 32-year-old does decide on a move to Ibrox then it will mean crossing paths with Celtic boss Rodgers – who coached him during his formative days at Liverpool and sent him out to gain first-team experience at Sheffield United in 2013. And speaking in 2020, the defender credited the Irishman for pushing him to leave his comfort zone. He said: "Brendan Rodgers was good to me when I was young. I had a season training with the first team at Melwood, learning off them. That was big for me, but I always knew it was tough. "I knew at some point I'd have to come away from Liverpool to really experience being a first-team player. It was the best decision I ever made, and Brendan was great for that; he pushed that to send me on loan and try to improve my game. "Liverpool were always getting better, they were always improving, and the players in my position were ridiculous. But I just wanted to play football. I knew where I was at, the type of level I was at, but I just wanted to be part of a first team, playing in games which meant something, playing against men." He ultimately never made the grade under Rodgers at Anfield, making just two appearances, and now he may be gearing up to show his former boss the player he passed on by taking the fight to him in Glasgow. Pundit Lee Hendrie meanwhile has offered an insight into where Coady's head is on the deal. He told FootballLeagueWorld: "I could see him at Ibrox, for sure. I think that he could certainly step in and do a job at Rangers. There's no doubt about that. He still offers a lot in the line of experience. "He has been limited on game time, but I think, particularly with Leicester being in the Championship, he'd be one you look at and think that he's got a bit more mileage in him to go on and kick on in the Championship. "If you're linked with Rangers, I'm sure that would certainly give him something to think about. I'd be looking at it from a Leicester point of view, thinking that he'd be one that I want to keep hold of, given some of the players that they have at the club." Forgotten Celtic winger Luis Palma suffers Honduras disaster
The 25-year-old spent the second half of the season on loan at Greek giants Olympiacos, but will return to Parkhead for the new season after they opted not to exercise a £3.3 million clause that would make the move permanent. He made just three league starts for Olympiacos and his nightmare campaign reached a new low on international duty when Honduras crashed to a humiliating 6-0 defeat to Canada in a CONCACAF Gold Cup match at Vancouver and he was subbed off at the interval. And Palma admitted it was a disastrous night for him. He said: "It's very sad. It's one of my lowest moments in my career. Read more: "We have to accept we are going through a very difficult time at the moment. But we all know that was nowhere near acceptable. "Now we have to use this as a learning experience for the rest of the tournament. The whole team is devastated by this setback. "Only hard work will help us. We have to turn over a new page. "We didn't have a clear idea of what we wanted to play, and it showed. This defeat hurts us all a lot."
