Augmented World Expo (AWE) is a show focused on the world of virtual reality headsets and smart glasses, and how those devices are changing the future.
The 2025 edition was a leap forward from previous years with a massive presence from well-known tech companies like Qualcomm, Sony, and Meta.
Smart glasses are getting better and better, and headsets like the Meta Quest 3 are receiving more ways to play and work. And we haven't even mentioned the various wearables that can connect with your phone or these devices.
Much of the show is focused on the future of headsets and glasses, but there were a number of products that are coming soon or are available now.
We were able to go hands-and face-on with several products. Here's our picks for the best of AWE 2025 that you need to know about.
Yes, these are the AR glasses that Viture has been teasing for a while now.
While I can't tell you much about my hands-on time until they are announced, the fact that I've immediately given them the "best of show" trophy is hopefully enough of a green flag of what you'll get here.

And what you do get is the best screen I've ever seen with a massive 60-degree field of view — all with that same great color production that Viture is known for.
On top of that, with such a huge field of view, the glasses don't look or feel significantly larger to pull it off, and there's zero fringing around the outer edges of the display.
Put simply, if you've been waiting for the best external display for your eyes on long journeys, I recommend you wait for these.
Snapchat had a massive presence at AWE 2025 with multiple demos of its current Snap Spectacles, including AI-enabled object recognition and linked glasses for multi-person experiences.
The biggest news was that its rebranded Specs will launch in 2026.
Developers have had access to the prototype versions of the new smart glasses since late 2024, with a ton of expected "Lenses" or apps already in development.
Snap CEO Evan Spiegel announced that the new glasses would be lighter and a "much smaller form factor" than the current Spectacles and the dev kits that we've seen.
AWE 2025 was filled with VR accessories that ranged from haptic gloves to giant mech-suit-esque apparati. Unfortunately, many were either prototypes, meant for businesses, or too big for most people to feasibly use in their homes (looking at you, MEK).
bHaptics showed off its TactSuit, a series of wearable VR accessories that add haptic feedback to your VR gaming. And we got to try some, including a vest, gloves, and sleeves.
The accessories work with the Meta Quest 3 headset and were a lot of fun, even during simple tech demos.
They're a bit spendy, but if you're invested in VR gaming, they are worth the cost.
Controlling AR content on glasses has been a bit of a minefield. Either you've got to use a secondary device like a wand (like the Xreal Beam Pro), or it's a whole hand-tracking situation that doesn't really work without more raw computation.
That's where the KiWear Smart Ring comes in — accurately capturing pinch and hand movements to a degree that it all feels like spatial computing without the need for an Apple Vision Pro on your face.
Whether it's pinching to select, swirling your finger around to change the volume, or turning your hand palm-up for additional interactions, it's all here with this ring. It could possibly bring on a new wave of controlling AR content.
We all know that AI goes hand-in-hand with smart glasses to deliver an immeasurably better experience — take a look at the Ray-Ban Metas for example. But it can all be a bit impersonal.
How do you make that AI more personalized to you? A lot of sensors, and that's what Emteq is doing. Simply put, this company has delivered a fitness and wellness tracker better than any smart watch or smart ring ever could be.
With nine optical sensors, it's able to measure your facial muscles to a near-microscopic level. This has uses in being able to create an avatar for talking in video calls, but the real immediate benefit I saw is in healthcare.
Not only can you use the cameras to take a picture of your food and use ChatGPT to give you a caloric breakdown of what you're about to eat, but you can also get a reading on whether you're chewing too fast, which may cause digestion problems.
And then the subconscious muscle twitches in your face can give it a read on your emotional well-being too. This is true personalized AI, and a look at what smart glasses could be as real assistants.
The Wizpr ring caught us by surprise as we wandered the AWE 2025 show floor.
It's an AI-enabled smart ring that features a microphone you can use to speak with AI. We tested it, and you can just about whisper, as the name implies, into the ring to give it commands or prompts.
On the loud show floor, we were able to ask questions like, "What's the weather like?" or "How far away is the nearest Starbucks?" and the interface appeared to hear and understand the prompts.
It can also be used to control some smart home devices like lights or media in your AirPods.
Snapdragon AR1+ is a turbo-boosted version of what you see in the Ray-Ban Metas, but it's so much more than that. You see, one of the common obstacles with AI in smart glasses is the time taken to receive a response from the cloud, or latency.
But this is able to run a 1-billion parameter model entirely locally, which is great for both privacy and speed. On top of that, there are improvements to camera quality, display quality, and energy efficiency.
This chip puts Qualcomm on a path towards smart glasses that cut the cord to any phone or additional computing puck, and sets them towards a future where your smart glasses could replace what you may be reading this on right now.

Qualcomm Technologies Inc. QCOM and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. The accelerator is based on AMD CDNA 3 accelerator architecture and supports up to 192 GB of HBM3 memory, enabling efficient running of large language model training (up to 80 billion parameters) and inference for generative AI workloads. It is also benefiting from strong enterprise adoption and expanded cloud addition, strength in 7-nanometer-based processors is expected to strengthen the company's competitive position in the commercial and server market against Intel. AMD is currently leveraging Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's 7 nm process technology, which is enabling it to deliver its advanced 7 nm chips faster to market. AMD Radeon RX 7900 series chiplet design combines 5 nm and 6 nm process nodes, each optimized for specific chips in the in the traditional computing market, which still generates a chunk of its revenues, AMD is up against Intel's strong market position. With Intel systems so well entrenched, there is an obvious preference for system integrators to choose Intel processors over AMD. Moreover, AMD faces significant competition from NVIDIA in the GPU market. AMD has had relatively greater success in the mobile segment, and its current product lineup indicates that this focus will continue. However, competition in the mobile segment is likely to accelerate, with more ARM-based devices coming on the market. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for Qualcomm's 2025 sales and EPS implies year-over-year growth of 11.8% and 14.6%, respectively. PlayStation boss Hermen Hulst wants to develop Astro Bot into an enduring series, calling it one of the consoles "most exciting recent successes"

PlayStation boss Hermen Hulst has praised Astro Bot, calling it one of PlayStation's "most exciting recent successes." Astro Bot was a breath of fresh air for Sony's first-party output which has been relegated to cinematic third-person action games for the longest time, and embodied the spirit of Japan Studio (it getting shut down is probably the biggest blunder of Sony's 2020s, if you ask me). Since then the game has become one of the most beloved platformers of all time, winning Game of the Year at the BAFTAs and The Game Awards. Sony Interactive Entertainment's business group CEO Hermen Hulst gives the game praise during a recent video presentation (via Genki_JPN). During the talk, he calls Astro Bot one of PlayStation's "most exciting recent successes." Hulst adds: "Astro Bot was a smash hit, achieving universal acclaim among players and critics and sweeping industry award shows." When speaking about growing game IP into franchises, Astro Bot is listed as an "emerging IP," hopefully meaning that we should be getting more Astro in the future, (thankfully). Hopefully the success of Astro Bot shows PlayStation the value in having franchises that don't quite fit into that prestige AAA mold or the live service world. After Japan Studio was shuttered in 2021, it meant the studio which were constantly pumping out unique games and ideas were all but gone (the studio was merged into Team Asobi). But, in an era where big Sony series are taking longer to come out (the PS5 generation will probably almost be over by the time the next Naughty Dog game releases), little games like Ape Escape, Gravity Rush, and Patapon would go down a treat. Sony is "really thoughtful" about bringing PlayStation franchises like God of War and The Last of Us off console, and PS5 games going to PC is a matter of "if", not when.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 50% of small private businesses typically fail within five years. This five-year span seems like the breaking point. If your company is still in business after five years, it means you've likely overcome many setbacks and made many tough decisions. There's plenty that can derail even the best businesses. Suppliers may go bankrupt, fail to meet deadlines, or produce shoddy items. Marketing plans may go awry. Workers may defect to rivals. Even your best customers may eventually sour on your solutions, forcing you to pivot your business company that seems to have been quite unlucky in choosing its business partners is Qualcomm. Apple is one of its biggest customers, and it is slowly but steadily ditching Qualcomm's modems in favor of its own, creating a crisis for the technology company and forcing it to rethink its business. Qualcomm was founded in 1985, and for a business to be turning 40 is an incredible achievement. The company has two different branches of business. One is Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT) and the other is Qualcomm Technology Licensing (QTL). QCT revenue streams are handsets, automotive, and Internet of Things, while QTL controls the patent licensing business. According to Bloomberg and the Bank of America Global Research estimates, Apple's contribution to QCT's handset division was 15% in 2024. On June 9th, Qualcomm () announced that it plans to acquire Alphawave Semi, a producer of high-speed wired connectivity, chiplets, and custom silicon. Artificial intelligence training and inference require highly parallel, memory and bandwidth-intensive computations. Accelerators are built on GPUs or custom chiplets, and need better, more efficient interconnections and AlphaWave's technology enables that. 'Alphawave Semi has developed leading high-speed wired connectivity and compute technologies that are complementary to our power-efficient CPU and NPU cores,' said Cristiano Amon, president and CEO of Qualcomm pivot to the data center markets may prove a good plan to recoup the lost revenue due to Apple's increasing reliance on its own modems. This acquisition of Alphawave Semi is expected to be completed during the first calendar quarter of 2026 and isn't final. Qualcomm revenue in Q2 of fiscal year 2025 reached $10.9 billion, a 17% increase year-over-year. Majority of the revenue came from QCT part of the company, which had revenue of $9.5 billion. Handset division revenue was $6.9 billion, automotive revenue $959 million and $1.6 billion came from IoT. Bank of America analyst Tal Liani and his team recently updated their opinion on Qualcomm shares. Analysts noted that the Internet of Things and automotive have significant growth potential and were up 27% and 59% year over year in the most recent quarter. However, they warned that smartphones, representing 73% of Qualcomm CDMA revenues, have peaked. They forecast that Apple's contribution will drop from 15% in 2024 to 6% of total handset revenues by fiscal year 2027 and drop to zero beyond 2027. The analysts believe there are only limited near-term catalysts for the stock and lowered their estimates and price objectives to reflect their updated growth outlook. They set a Qualcomm stock price target of $200, down from $245, equal to 15 times their calendar 2026 earnings estimates. Previously, their target price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio was 17. Qualcomm's forward P/E ratio is currently they reduced their target, they still think the upside is enough to justify maintaining their buy rating on the stock. However, they did highlight three risks that could limit Qualcomm's stock in the near term: The handset market is mature and without any visible growth catalyst. They expect recent smartphone growth to reverse, as the impact of product launches and channel fill in China erodes, and share gains at Samsung will subside. Apple will start using its own modem for non-Pro phones.
