Leicester, already relegated following a dismal season, struggled to cope with the hosts for much of the afternoon.
And Jorgen Strand Larsen smashed in a deserved second shortly after the break.
Jamie Vardy announced earlier this week he will leave the King Power at the end of the season.
The former England forward hasn't netted for over three months - but was given the perfect opportunity after being felled in the box by Jose Sa.
Vardy took the spot-kick but was foiled by the Portuguese stopper.
To compound the Foxes' misery, Rodrigo Gomes netted a late third, leaving Ruud van Nistelrooy's men with just one away win in their last 15 attempts.

Marcus Rashford sends Ruben Amorim message in 1st interview since Man Utd return

Marcus Rashford's future remains uncertain but he's poised to return to Manchester United for pre-season and has underlined his ability to play as a No 9 amid the club's search for a striker Marcus Rashford has admitted that being a central striker is "becoming more natural" as his career evolves - with Manchester United desperately looking for a new No.9. The 27-year-old is returning to Old Trafford after his loan stint away at Aston Villa. Rashford has endured a difficult time in Manchester and, after falling down the pecking order under Ruben Amorim, opted to move away temporarily. ‌ Villa had a £40million option to sign him permanently but that hasn't been exercised and Rashford faces an uncertain future. His dream move to Barcelona may now be off the cards - despite his thinly-veiled come-get-me-plea - and the forward appears to be selling himself as the central striker that United are looking for. ‌ Rashford has played predominantly from out wide during his career, but believes becoming a central option has been part of his career evolution. Those in Manchester have missed out on Liam Delap, one of their summer targets, whilst Viktor Gyokeres may favour other destinations. It could yet leave an opening for Rashford to stake his claim as the man to lead United's line - something he believes he's now capable of. He said: "For me as I've got older, the No.9 position is becoming more comfortable, more natural." In Rashford's most prolific season he scored 30 times. That was back in 2022/23 under Erik ten Hag. He's failed to hit those heights since but looked back to his best for periods during his loan spell at Villa, where he was able to dislodge Ollie Watkins as a stater. The main task for the academy graduate will be winning over Amorim. The Portuguese coach, who has signed Matheus Cunha and now wants Bryan Mbeumo, quickly shunned Rashford when he arrived and left him out of numerous squads. He later cited a difference of opinion as their main issue. He said: "I couldn't get Marcus to see the way you're supposed to play football and to train the way I see it. Sometimes you have one player that is really good with one coach, and the same player with another coach is different. I wish the best to Rashford and to [Villa manager] Unai Emery, and they can connect because he's a very good player." Before Rashford went on to rediscover his best form at Villa Park under Unai Emery Amorim admitted: "Sometimes you have one player that is really good with one coach, and the same player with another coach is different." Manchester United sent strong Amad exit demand after 'transfer agreement'

Amad Diallo was one of the standouts in a desperately dismal 2024-25 season for Manchester United, and amid shock suggestions he could become a makeweight for new signings, Louis Saha has made his feelings clear No matter what happens with Bryan Mbeumo, Manchester United MUST keep Amad at Old Trafford. That's the view of former United striker Louis Saha, who is a big fan of the young Ivorian winger. Mbeumo, 25, is all ready and has agreed to move to United if the Red Devils can seal a deal with his club side, Brentford. So far, United have seen two offers turned down by the London club, while Tottenham - who have just poached Bees boss Thomas Frank - have made a bid in excess of anything offered by United. ‌ Nevertheless, despite interest from Spurs, United are expected to land Mbeumo, with his preference to move to Old Trafford. ‌ He will join Matheus Cunha, who has already completed his £62.5m move from Wolves, with the pair both earmarked for key roles by Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese is sticking wholeheartedly with his 3-4-3 formation which is yet to bear fruit in Manchester, with the pair both set for starting spots as the twin No.10s, either side of a No.9. That means that Amad, one of few shining lights during a dismal 2024-25 campaign is likely to miss out on his preferred position on the right of the attacking trio. He may well have to drop back and play at wing-back if he wants to keep a starting spot, or else be a substitute. Speculation has risen however that he could in fact be cast aside and sold, as the club look to recoup funds. But Saha has urged United chiefs to do whatever it takes to keep Amad. "Nooo! No! No! If there are one or two players who should not leave, it is him and Bruno Fernandes," Saha told the Daily Express with BetSelect. "He is the kind of player who does not care where he plays. He has said it himself; he will play as a left-back or centre-back - he will just play." And as Saha backed Amad, he let rip at some of his Old Trafford team-mates with some very pointed comments. He continued: "Some other players will say, 'I want to play there' or 'I should be playing [in] this [position]'. Those players should shut up. Why? Because the result that we had last year is ridiculous. "If you have got 20 goals, you can ask those things, maybe. But none of those players have scored more than 15 goals, and they are asking for things. It is crazy." Real reason Leicester City are continuing to wait to sack Ruud van Nistelrooy

Leicester have kept Ruud van Nistelrooy as their manager for weeks despite their Premier League relegation with the Dutchman poised to finally get his marching orders Leicester have decided to sack Ruud van Nistelrooy but have kept the Dutchman in his post for weeks to avoid a second managerial pay-off on this year's accounts. The Foxes were relegated from the Premier League with the ex- Manchester United star at the helm. They failed to mount much of a challenge with their relegation a long time coming. Van Nistelrooy, who replaced Steve Cooper, could not halt their demise and they returned to the Championship after just one season in the top flight. ‌ Van Nistelrooy's dismissal was expected but, with just seven weeks until the second tier season begins, he remains in a job. However the 48-year-old's time will be up when the Foxes enter their next football accounting period with the delay down to the amount it will cost to get rid of the manager, reports The Sun. ‌ Van Nistelrooy's horrid tenure saw him preside over 17 defeats across his 19 matches. During that period Leicester managed to go nine home Premier League matches in a row without scoring a single goal - losing all of them. Leicester's relegation was confirmed on April 20 but there was no change in the dugout and there has been no communication over Van Nistelrooy's position, but the club's bosses are ready to move him on. READ MORE: Chris Wilder sacked by Sheffield United for second time after promotion failure Leicester are still anxiously waiting on the points penalty they will pick up for past financial offences, which has factored into their timing when it comes to changing their manager. Despite having to tighten the purse strings it is understood that Sean Dyche will take charge. Russell Martin, who led Southampton to promotion from the Championship, was previously linked but he has since taken the Rangers job which left the Leicester hierarchy to look elsewhere. Dyche has previous of enjoying promotion from the second tier. After Leicester's relegation Van Nistelrooy said he "hopes to speak" with the club about his future. "I would like to talk and that's the first thing that needs to happen," he said. "It's been silent and it's something towards the end of the season, get things done with and then I expect to hear something." For the first time in well over a decade Leicester will play a season without Jamie Vardy after the veteran's time with the club came to an end. His contract expired and he scored in his final outing as he and the club go in different directions. Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content.
