Indore launches water conservation campaign
Indore: Ahead of the monsoon,
Indore Municipal Corporation
(IMC) on Thursday launched the second edition of the '
Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan
' (Water Ganga Conservation Campaign) to conserve water. The campaign will include the installation of 300 recharge shafts, the revival and hydrological survey of 411 wells, the deepening of 15 ponds, and the completion of channel cleaning.
It will also involve public participation-based structures, along with proposals to implement penalty and reward policies and suggestions for tax exemptions.
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of city representatives, social organisations, administrative officials, corporators, heads of educational institutions, NGO representatives, presidents of colony associations, and a large number of aware citizens.
Cabinet minister Tulsiram Silawat said, "Indore's ponds, stepwells, and wells are our cultural heritage. It is necessary to free all these water sources from encroachments and rejuvenate them. 'Water is life' – with this spirit, we must take this campaign forward."
Cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya stated, "Indore has become an example for the country. Both punishment and reward are necessary to run a city. Those who conserve water should get tax exemptions, and those who don't should be penalised. All corporators should pledge to install at least 500

After Op Sindoor, 9 GIB chicks back at Ramdevra centre from Ajmer
