CM launches Common Mobility Card for Metro 3 commuters
MUMBAI: Starting today (June 11), Mumbai Metro passengers will be able to use the National Common Mobility Card or NCMC on the partially-operated underground Aarey-JVLR to Acharya Atre Chowk Metro 3 line. The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) constructed as well as operates and maintains the Mumbai Metro 3 route.
On Tuesday morning, the common mobility card was launched in Mantralaya by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and deputy chief ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. This initiative allows commuters to simply tap and travel between Aarey-JVLR and Acharya Atre Chowk in Worli using the contactless cards, instead of queuing up at the ticket counters prior to each metro journey.
So far, the ticketing systems of Metro 1 (Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar), Metro 2A (Dahisar East-Andheri West) and Metro 7 (Dahisar East-Gundavali) are calibrated to permit passengers to commute using the NCMC card. Additionally, the same card can also be utilised on BEST Undertaking licensed Chalo Bus. The Mumbai Monorail as well as suburban trains continue to be out of NCMC ambit and there are no plans to accept the card in the immediate future.
However, there are plans to have a common Mobility App, wherein tickets for all transport modes can be purchased through one mobile application. This was to be launched on May 1, but has been rescheduled to a later date that is yet to be announced.
Existing NCMC card users can continue using their cards with effect from June 11, while the new users can purchase the NCMC card at any station from Aarey-JVLR to Acharya Atre Chowk stations of Mumbai Metro 3 and partnered State Bank of India branches.
An MMRC official shared that these cards are available free of cost, with a mandatory top-up of a minimum ₹100 and up to ₹2000 for travel use.

Nagpur: In a major boost for road connectivity to Nashik for Kumbh Mela 2027, Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari on Sunday approved upgradation, along with construction in some patches, of up to eight highways leading to the city. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting support for upgrading the road infrastructure so that Maharashtra is prepared to handle the influx of visitors to Nashik. Along with this, there are some internal roads which also need to be upgraded to support the flow of visitors towards Nashik," said Fadnavis. "Gadkari ji held a meeting regarding our request and he has approved all the projects. Soon, a DPR will be prepared and funds allotted. Govt seeks public inputs for Viksit Maha 2047 via survey
Nagpur: Maharashtra govt has launched a statewide citizen survey to collect public opinion for the preparation of 'Viksit Maharashtra 2047' vision document. The initiative is part of a 150-day programme led by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, aimed at shaping a long-term development roadmap for the state in alignment with the national India@2047 goal. The survey, officially inaugurated on June 17, encourages citizens to share their views on development priorities across 16 key sectors for which seven questions are to be answered on WhatsApp chatbot. These include agriculture, education, health, rural and urban development, land and water resources, infrastructure, finance, industry, services, social development, security, soft power, technology, and human resource management. Citizens can participate in the survey by scanning QR code displayed on official banners or by visiting the link: The planning department has clarified that no personal information will be collected during the process. The vision document aims to guide Maharashtra toward becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2029 and a $5 trillion economy by 2047. Departments have been directed to set short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals, focusing on progress, sustainability, inclusivity, and good governance. Experts and organisations from both govt and non-govt sectors will also be involved in drafting sector-wise plans. The campaign falls under the broader framework of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the national movement marking 100 years of India's independence in 2047. It emphasizes citizen engagement as a cornerstone for planning and decision-making. Center to develop nine roads leading to Nashik ahead of Kumbh mela
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said that all roads connecting Nashik will be developed and upgraded in view of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Nashik. A total of nine roads will be developed by the central government ahead of the religious meet in 2027 and as per the preliminary estimate, the work is likely to cost a further Rs 4000 crore. A high-level meeting regarding the highway connecting Nashik was held on Sunday in the presence of Union Road Development Minister Nitin Gadkari at Nagpur. Gadkari extended in-principle approval to the construction of necessary roads and facilities required for the upcoming Kumbh Mela to be held in Nashik as a huge crowd of devotees is expected to arrive, leading to a strain on the traffic system. It was decided that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared soon and funds will be made available for this. The routes to be developed include, Ghoti – Pahine – Trimbakeshwar – Jawhar Phata; Dwarka Circle – Sinnar IC 21 (Samruddhi Expressway) Nandur Shingote – Kolhar; Nashik to Kasara; Savli Vihir (IC 20 Samruddhi Expressway) Shirdi – Shani Shingnapur Phata (Rahuri Khurd); Nashik to Dhule; Trimbakeshwar – Jawhar – Manor; Shadow Well – Manmad – Malegaon; Ghoti – Sinnar – Vavi – Shirdi; Shani Shingnapur Phata (Rahuri Khurd) – Ahilyanagar (Kharwandi Phata).The meeting approved the Nashik Ring Road. Along with this, it was decided to make the Nashik to Trimbak road six-lane. 'The cost will be calculated post preparation of the DPR. But the central government has assured all possible financial help as well,' said an official from the Maharashtra Public Works Department (PWD). He added, the estimated Rs 4000 crore is for the construction of roads and additional money will be required for the Nashik ring road project. 'Keeping in view the increasing interest of devotees towards Kumbh Mela and the expected crowd, I had requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide assistance at the central government level for its successful planning and enabling infrastructure road development. As a result this meeting was held today,' said Fadnavis. There are eight important routes to Nashik from Mumbai, Gujarat, Palghar, Pune, Ahilyanagar, Sambhajinagar, Dhule. All these routes and the internal roads in Nashik city and the district also connect to the national highway. The meeting considered the development of all those roads. CM Fadnavis said that the expanded road network will provide more safe facilities to the devotees as it will handle the huge traffic expected during the Kumbh Mela.
