Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning isn't just earning big bucks at the box office, but has also barged straight into the Guinness World Records. Cruise, who's never blinked at death-defying stunts, may have taken things a notch too far this time. In the film's climax, Ethan Hunt jumps off a damaged biplane, and his main parachute catches fire. While most of us assumed it was all CGI wizardry, a behind-the-scenes clip just confirmed it was the real stunt.

'What I'm going to do is I'm going to be deploying,' Cruise says in a video shared by Paramount on June 5. 'If this is twisted while it's burning, I'm going to be spinning and burning. I have to kick out of the twist and then ignite. I got 10 seconds.' The video then captures the moment when the Top Gun star leaps from a helicopter at 7,500 feet in South Africa's Drakensberg Mountains. The actor can be seen wearing a parachute soaked in aviation fuel, which was set ablaze mid-fall. He repeated the same shot until perfection, not twice or thrice, but 16 times over, and after each jump, he would release the burning chute and deploy a backup to land safely. Cruise was also seen actively engaged in the stunt choreography, working with the team and discussing the stunt's logistics. The clip also shows him jumping with a 50-pound camera rig strapped to him to capture close-up shots of the stunt. 'We're going to be real smart. I'm not saying be risky. We don't take risks, obviously.'

'Wait, I thought the parachute explosion was VFX they added to a normal parachute scene. They actually did that? Nuts, I say—nuts,' a fan commented on the video. 'Tom Cruise is something else. Hollywood will never see another actor like him again,' another added. 'Tom Cruise is a madman, and we love it.'
Guinness World Records now recognises Cruise for 'the most burning parachute jumps by an individual.' Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning made its debut at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and received a five-minute standing ovation. The film has grossed over $360 million worldwide, with critics and fans heaping praise. It opened at the box office with a massive $200 million haul, the highest yet in the franchise. 'This weekend was one for the history books!' Cruise earlier wrote in a heartfelt note to fans and the makers. 'Congratulations and thank you to every filmmaker, every artist, every crew member, and every single person who works at the studios. To every theatre and every employee who helps bring these stories to audiences, thank you.'

Tom Cruise is allegedly banned from buying this luxury car; here's what happened…

In addition to performing his stunts in films, Hollywood icon Tom Cruise is famous for his love for exquisite luxury cars. However, a public incident led him to land on an interesting list — one that includes names of celebrities who are banned from buying Bugatti cars. This alleged decision by Bugatti stems from an embarrassing incident at the Mission: Impossible 3 premiere in 2006, which the luxury car manufacturer viewed as detrimental to its brand image. Back in 2005, Cruise acquired a high-end Bugatti worth over $1 million to celebrate and indulge his love for luxury and speed. At the premiere of his film, he decided to drive the car and make a grand appearance on the red carpet. However, things did not exactly go as planned. According to Modern Car Collector, the incident that led to Bugatti's drastic decision involved Cruise struggling to open the passenger-side door of his Bugatti Veyron—a car celebrated for its sophisticated engineering and exceptional performance, including a 16-cylinder engine and 1001 horsepower. The struggle lasted over 40 seconds and occurred in full view of the premiere's attendees and was broadcast to millions worldwide. While the moment was taken lightly by fans and the media, Bugatti saw it as a serious blunder. The luxury car manufacturer took this move as a sign of disrespect toward the brand's prestige and reputation and allegedly decided to prohibit Cruise from buying anything else from Bugatti. This measure was also extended to many other celebrities who have previously tarnished the brand's reputation publicly. This list of celebrities allegedly includes notable figures like Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber, who have faced similar restrictions from other high-profile car brands for various reasons. 'The perceived value of an item plays a significant role in driving up its worth because humans often assign value based on exclusivity of the products, their rare existence, and social status,' said Juhi Pandey, psychologist, MPower Helpline. According to her, there are several reasons why people are drawn to luxury items. Some of them are: Exclusivity: 'Luxury brands create an impression that not everyone can own their products, even if they have the money. This strategy of selective branding enhances their appeal,' said Pandey. Feeling of inaccessibility: The scarcity and inaccessibility of luxury items fuel a sense of desire. 'People often wonder why they can't have what is seemingly meant for a select few. This exclusivity acts as a psychological hook,' Pandey explained. Neuroscience and luxury: Purchasing luxury goods activates brain areas like the nucleus accumbens and ventral striatum, which are linked to impulsive desires. Pandey said, 'Dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and motivation, is released during such purchases, enhancing the sense of reward.' Craftsmanship: The exceptional attention to detail and superior craftsmanship attract individuals who value precision and durability. 'Many luxury buyers appreciate the effort and skill behind these items, which align with their standards of excellence,' Pandey said. Pandey mentioned that exclusivity and high pricing often signal quality and prestige, which drive the demand for luxury goods. 'The pleasure of owning something rare activates the brain's reward system. Cognitive biases like anchoring and the endowment effect also play a role, as people inflate the value of items based on initial price points or personal attachment,' she said. Ultimately, the desire for status, recognition, and self-fulfillment makes luxury goods highly appealing.

Watch: World's Largest Cheese Fondue Makes It To The Guinness Book Of World Records

Cheese fondue — a decadent Swiss classic — is meant to tantalise the taste buds of cheese lovers. Prepared with white wine, garlic, a splash of kirsch (colourless brandy) and Gruyere (a type of Alpine cheese), the dish sends our senses on a luscious, creamy journey. Served traditionally in a warm pot, when you dip the bread in the rich and gooey melted cheese, you will forget about those calories just like that. But what if you were given the world's largest cheese fondue ever made? Would you be able to finish off the entire thing? We are not kidding. The world's largest cheese fondue has earned a spot in the Guinness World Records (GWR). As per the official GWR website, it measures 2m³ (70.63 cubic feet). The extraordinary feat was achieved by premium cheese brand JuraFlore at the historical Le Fort des Rousses in Les Rousses, France, on February 22. GWR posted a video of the enormous cheese fondue-making process on Instagram. The clip shows the chef and his assistants adding giant chunks of Gruyere into a slicer. Shredded cheese comes out of the machine, which is then added to a large cauldron. Enough water and milk are poured into it, creating a thick and luscious base. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Guinness World Records (@guinnessworldrecords) The internet was quick to react. 'I can finish it in 3 bites max,' admitted a cheese enthusiast. 'That's a lot of cheese! I like it,' wrote another. 'How to break the 10-minute push-up record, ready to do it,' read a sarcastic remark. One person called the dish 'heaven'. The culinary event drew in more than 5000 attendees, surpassing the town's population, claimed the GWR website. Surprisingly, by the end of the evening, everyone finished off the cheese fondue. Reportedly, every person consumed an average of 400 g. The record also paved the way for JuraFlore to introduce their new three-Comté fondue product. It also highlights the region's cheese-making tradition. What are your thoughts on this?

Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt To Reunite On Screen After 31 Years? Here's What We Know

Last Updated: Brad Pitt said he is open to working with Tom Cruise again, but has one condition. Brad Pitt is open to working with Tom Cruise again, as long as he doesn't have to do any big stunts. The 61-year-old actor hasn't appeared on-screen with the Mission: Impossible star, 62, since 1994's Interview with the Vampire, and Pitt has now revealed he would collaborate with Cruise again, on the condition that his feet stay firmly on the ground. Speaking with E! News, Pitt said: 'Well, I'm not gonna hang my a** off airplanes and s*** like that. So when he does something again that's on the ground [then yes]." Pitt will next be seen in F1 – the high-octane racing movie from Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski. In F1, Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, a retired racer who returns to the track with new blood Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) in a bid to become the best Formula One driver in the world. While Pitt wants to avoid doing any major stunts in a Tom Cruise movie, the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood actor had driven at 180-miles-per-hour in real Formula One cars for F1. Speaking at a Q+A event in March, Kosinski said: '[Pitt] just had that natural feel for grip in the car, and what we're doing on this film is dangerous. So yeah, you have to be fearless, and when you see Brad driving, that's not acting." He added: 'He's really concentrating on keeping that car on the track and out of the wall during all those scenes. So that's something that you just can't fake, I think. I hope the audience feels that when they watch the movie." The filmmaker added that Pitt had undergone 'months of training" to prepare for the racing scenes, which also involved learning the art of the sport under the tutelage of seven-time Formula One world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton. Kosinski explained: 'Brad and Damson are both driving in this film and in order to get them into these race cars, it required months, literally months of training. But the first day was really fun. It was me, Brad and Lewis Hamilton at the track together, all of us jumping in cars and driving each other around in sports cars, which was one of those things, I'll never forget having Lewis Hamilton as your driving instructor. But what we learned and what Lewis was really interested was seeing did Brad knew how to drive right? Because if Brad can't drive, this whole film wasn't going to work." The director said Hamilton found Pitt to be a 'very talented, naturally gifted driver" when they first sped around the track together. Kosinski said: 'And what Lewis was very happy to discover was that Brad had a lot of just natural ability right from the start. And I don't know where he got that or if he was born with it, and he rides motorcycles, which I think has something to do with it, but he's just a very talented, naturally gifted driver, which for Lewis after that first meeting gave him a lot of confidence that we might have a shot at pulling this off."
