Boelter has only been charged with two counts of second-degree murder for the slayings of Democratic State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, and two of attempted murder for Yvette and John. According to Yvette, Hope was 'the reason officers knew to go to Hortman,' she wrote. They were tragically killed after Boelter allegedly opened fire on them in their home around 3am. Police encountered the gunman fleeing Hortman's residence around 3.35am and exchanged gunfire with him. Pregnant woman loses unborn baby following horror police chase crash in Newcastle

A woman was killed and another seriously injured, losing her unborn child, after a Holden Commodore, allegedly evading police, crashed head-on into their Hyundai in Newcastle early Sunday morning. Police first spotted the Commodore with unauthorised plates around 2:40am on Newcastle Road, Wallsend. Officers did not pursue the vehicle due to safety concerns but later lost sight of it in North Lambton. Shortly after, the Commodore collided with the Hyundai. The 55-year-old passenger in the Hyundai died at the scene, while the 28-year-old pregnant driver was taken to hospital in serious condition. The Commodore's driver and front passenger allegedly fled before police arrived. Two teenage girls in the back seat were hospitalised with serious injuries. Police are appealing for information to locate a man seen nearby and a 17-year-old girl believed to be the front passenger.
