MOSCOW (BERNAMA-SPUTNIK/RIA NOVOSTI): Russia and China adhere to identical approaches, and both condemn Israel's actions that violate the United Nations Charter, Sputnik/RIA Novosti reported, citing Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov on Thursday (June 19).
"Both sides adhere to identical approaches and strongly condemn Israel's actions that violate the UN Charter and other norms of national law," Ushakov told reporters after a phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping that took place earlier in the day.
Xi told Putin that he believes that Russia's mediation efforts in the conflict between Iran and Israel will contribute to the de-escalation "in the current most important situation," the Kremlin aide added.
"The conversation was mainly devoted to discussing the escalated situation in the Middle East... Both Moscow and Beijing fundamentally believe that there is no military solution to the current situation and issues related to the Iranian nuclear programme," he also said. - Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti

Defence Ministry Keeping Close Watch On Iran-Israel Conflict
KOTA TINGGI, June 21 (Bernama) -- The Defence Ministry will continue to closely monitor developments in the Iran-Israel conflict, given its potential implications for regional security and national interests, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. He said the situation is alarming as it could escalate into a broader conflict, including disrupting the global supply chains, impacting the world economy, and endangering the safety of Malaysians in the region. 'We are monitoring the developments. When a world war breaks out, all countries are affected, oil prices surge, supply chains are disrupted, global trade is hampered, and trading nations like Malaysia will also feel the impact,' he said.

Iran's FM arrives in Istanbul for Arab League meeting
ISTANBUL: Iran's Foreign Minister arrived in Istanbul on Saturday, Tasnim news agency reported, for a meeting with Arab League diplomats to discuss Tehran's escalating conflict with Israel. Around 40 diplomats are slated to join the weekend gathering of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as Israel and Iran continue to exchange missile strikes. "The Foreign Minister arrived in Istanbul this morning to participate in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Foreign Ministers' meeting," Tasnim reported. This comes after Araghchi met with his counterparts from Britain, France, and Germany in Geneva on Friday. "At this meeting, at the suggestion of Iran, the issue of the Zionist regime's attack on our country will be specifically addressed," said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, according to the news agency. Israel began its assault in the early hours of 13th June, saying Iran was on the verge of developing nuclear weapons, triggering an immediate retaliation from Tehran in the worst-ever confrontation between the two arch-rivals. Earlier on Friday, Araghchi said Tehran was ready to "consider diplomacy" again only if Israel's "aggression is stopped." The Arab League ministers are expected to release a statement following their meeting, the Turkish state news agency Anadolu said.

Do not take Israel-Iran conflict lightly, says Defence Minister
KOTA TINGGI: The escalating conflict between Israel and Iran should not be taken lightly as it could lead to a world war if not resolved properly, says Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. The Defence Minister stated that although Malaysia is not involved in the conflict, the government will continue to monitor the situation. 'Conflicts like this, if not resolved properly, could lead to a world war. 'When this happens, people all over the world are affected as oil prices will spike and supplies will be cut off. Malaysia, as a trading nation, will also be affected,' he told reporters after attending a community ginger harvesting programme at Kampung Gembut, Sedili on Saturday (June 21). Mohamed Khaled added that flights are not allowed to enter or leave Iran at the moment, so Malaysians in the country will be brought out by land to Turkmenistan. 'They will then be flown back to Malaysia via commercial flights,' he said, noting that only a small number of citizens are involved and the repatriation efforts are being carried out by the Foreign Ministry.
