One UI 8 beta just made the Now Bar a lot more useful — here's how
Samsung's One UI 8 beta is here, and it is bringing a host of improvements to some of the best Samsung phones, including some changes to the Now Bar.
There's little doubt that Samsung's Now Bar is a bit lacking in terms of how useful it is, but Samsung has steadily been adding new features, for instance, adding Google Maps support. However, the most recent One UI 8 beta, as revealed by Android Authority, has drastically improved this functionality by having the Now Bar feature live call handling, alongside do-not-disturb schedules.
We'd heard rumors that Samsung was planning to add this feature earlier this month, but we didn't have a clear view of what it would look like. However, Android Authority has shared screenshots of the Now Bar taken on a Galaxy S25 running the latest beta.
The first image shows an outgoing call with the contact's name appearing in the Now Bar, although the call information strangely also appears in the notifications panel. This is likely a quirk of this being from a beta, and the notification pop-up won't appear in the public release. The second image shows the Now Bar displaying that the phone is in Do Not Disturb mode, as well as what time it will revert back.
This isn't the only change that's set to come with One UI 8. For instance, one of the biggest claims Samsung's making for One UI 8 is the introduction of multimodal AI. This AI should, in theory, be more aware of what you're doing on your phone and will be able to offer more personalized and proactive suggestions as a result. Samsung has stated that this will specifically mean that the Now Bar and Now Brief will be able to offer more customized insights into your daily activities.
The One UI 8 beta also features some major improvements to the Secure folder, including a much-needed Kill Switch. The folder will also behave more like Android's Private Space features, meaning you can store apps in the folder without a copy being kept on the rest of your phone.
Samsung pushing to add more functionality to the Now Bar is sure to be appreciated. However, the real hope here is that the release of One UI 8 is more stable than the One UI 7 launch was, since it was fraught with issues. Thankfully, it seems that Samsung has taken the lessons of the last launch to heart.

One UI 8 beta is available now, but only if you have a Samsung Galaxy S25, S25 Plus or the S25 Ultra in the U.S., U.K., Korea and Germany. So far, Samsung has not announced whether it will come to other devices or regions yet.

Yaber T2 Outdoor Projector drops to new record-low price!
Kaitlyn Cimino / Android Authority Are you looking for a good portable projector that won't break the bank? The Yaber T2 Outdoor Projector is my personal pick. The $349.99 retail price is very reasonable, but discounts are common, and today's is the best we've seen. It's at a record low price of $233.99! Buy the Yaber T2 Outdoor Projector for just $233.99 ($116 off) This offer is available from Amazon and is a 'limited time deal.' Like, very limited. This offer has a timer on it, and according to Amazon, the sale ends in about four hours, so at about 8:30 PM Pacific. You'd better act fast! Yaber T2 Outdoor Projector Yaber T2 Outdoor Projector See price at Amazon Save $116.00 Limited Time Deal! I personally own the Yaber T2 Outdoor Projector and absolutely love it. Sure, other projectors out there are brighter, more vibrant, and overall better, but none of those are this affordable! Value per dollar, this is definitely my favorite portable projector. And I am not alone; our own Kaytlin gave the Yaber T2 a very favorable review, as well. One of its main advantages is portability. You can actually take this one around wherever you want. The design is pretty portable, and it has a nice handle for easy carrying. Additionally, it has an integrated battery that can run the projector for 2.5 hours on a full charge. Many other projectors claim to be portable because they are small, but have no battery and need to be plugged into a wall to work. The image is pretty decent. It can produce a Full HD projection at a 450-lumen brightness. And the image can be extended to 120 inches, which is enormous. It looks excellent in medium-to-low light, but it does start to suffer once the lighting gets on the brighter side. Kaitlyn Cimino / Android Authority In terms of audio, you'll get two 8W speakers, which were surprisingly good for the size and price of the unit. They are definitely better than any other projector speakers I have heard. This is great, because you can also use this as a portable Bluetooth speaker, and the battery life gets extended to 18 hours when in audio-only mode. How can you get something so good for so little money? Well, Yaber did make some sacrifices. I wish it had a smart TV OS built in. It has a nice set of input methods, though. You get HDMI, USB for local storage, and mirroring support. You can always get Yaber's Google TV dongle, or any other smart TV streaming stick or box. I am more than happy with the Yaber T2 Outdoor Projector, and am sure many of you will love it, too. My movie nights have never been more magical, and I didn't have to spend an arm and a leg on it. Again, this is a limited time deal and it is ending in a few hours, so go get it while you can!

Android Circuit: Galaxy Z Fold7 Details, Honor Magic V5 Previewed, OnePlus Nord 5 Arrives
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Taking a look back at this week's news and headlines across the Android world, including Galaxy Z Fold7 specs, Pixel 10 Pro features leak, Galaxy S26 benchmarking, OnePlus Nord 5 released, Poco F7 debuts, Honor promises record-breaking Magic V5, and Google Photos' upgrade. Android Circuit is here to remind you of a few of the many discussions around Android in the last seven days. You can also read my weekly digest of Apple news here on Forbes. Galaxy Z Fold's Practical Upgrade Samsung has revealed details of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7 on three occasions in the last three weeks, and it may not be done yet. Nevertheless, new details on the specs are coming out alongside the official teasers. One of those regards the cover screen of the foldable and how practical the Fold 7 will be when closed: "This is good news and precisely what Fold users, myself included, have been calling for since rivals OnePlus and Google launched their wider-screened foldable phones. As exciting as that design shift will be, it was expected. I thought Samsung would make this change immediately after the Fold 6 launched last summer." (Forbes). Pixel 10's New Camera Feature Google looks set to make a switch with its macro photography option for the Pixel 10 family by moving the feature from the ultrawide hardware into the telephoto hardware. It's an approach used by other manufacturers, leading to improved close-up images: "Telephoto sensors are typically better, optics-wise, than the ultrawide sensor. Providing a better quality image on macro. Additionally, using the telephoto sensor means you can be further away from the subject, which is great for capturing insects. But it also means that you and the camera won't be blocking the light. Keep in mind that macro photography does need a good bit of light to produce a good image." (Android Headlines). Galaxy S26 Ready To Challenge The iPhone 17 Looking further ahead to next year's Galaxy S26 family, new details have leaked on the potential performance of the Snapdragon Elite 2 chipset earmarked for the South Korean flagship. The numbers match the single-core numbers of Apple's upcoming A19 Pro, and show a significant lead in multi-core performance: "The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip is rumored to be fabricated on TSMC's third-generation 3nm process node. Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) has posted the chip's preliminary CPU performance results on Weibo. The chip's octa-core CPU reportedly scores over 11,000 points in Geekbench 6's multi-core CPU performance test and over 4,000 points in the single-core CPU performance test." (SamMobile). OnePlus Nord 5 Revealed OnePlus has confirmed a launch date of July 8 for the latest Nord phone, the OnePlus Nord 5. Alongside it, OnePlus also revealed the OnePlus CE5 OnePlus Pad Lite, OnePlus Watch 3, and OnePlus Buds 4. As the Nord 5 is squarely in the flagship-killer category, OnePlus will be balancing performance with price, none more so than in the choice of processor. It has stepped back to last year's flagship Snapdragon, which should offer capability while keeping the cost relatively low: "The Nord 5 is the latest in the company's mid-range smartphone line, and is the first Nord to feature a flagship Qualcomm chip — in this case the Snapdragon 8S Gen 3, which was designed for cheaper flagship phones — along with an upgraded cooling system and support for LPDDR5X RAM. That's all we know about the phone's specs, but from the picture we can glean that it'll come in a pale blue finish (officially dubbed 'Dry Ice') and features a dual rear camera." (The Verge). Poco F7 Debuts Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 We already knew that the F7 would ship with 12 GB of memory, presumably backed up by various storage levels and a 6,000 mAh battery. As well as confirming a release date of June 24, Poco has announced the F7 will ship with the leading Snapdragon 8 chipset: "Poco has been drip-feeding us with information about the Poco F7, which will be unveiled on June 24. The brand previously revealed its battery size (7,550 mAh) and charging speed (90W), and yesterday, it gave us our first official look at the smartphone. Today, Poco confirmed that the F7 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC." (GSM Arena). Honor Teases Record Breaking Foldable Honor has confirmed that its next foldable will launch on July 2nd in the Chinese market. Previous Magic V handsets have had an international launch a few months after China, and we'd expect the same to happen here. We're also expecting the push for innovation and records to continue in the V5: "Honor has suggested that its new foldable will depart from the current Magic V3 with a more powerful chipset, PC-level productivity and a design that is thinner than the Oppo Find N5 while also being lighter than the Vivo X Fold5." (Notebook Check). And Finally... Following hints at the new features in Google Photos, a deep dive into the pre-release APKs by the Android Authority team has revealed more about the features. No tools have been removed; they are laid out in a more logical fashion, many of the AI tools are now under Auto, and several new additions are included: "The 'Filters' section is also getting some love. A new 'Sky styles' option lets you choose from dramatic skyline effects like Luminous, Radiant, Vivid, Ember, and more. Google has also made a minor visual tweak to the filter selection tray, making it more intuitive to adjust filter strength." (Android Authority). Google Drive for Android gets a video player upgrade and better upload tools
Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority TL;DR Google Drive for Android now has a redesigned video player with easier-to-use playback controls. The mobile upload process has also been improved with file renaming, folder selection, and clearer progress tracking. Both features are now rolling out to all Google Workspace and personal Drive users. Google has been steadily modernizing its main storage app. The latest Google Drive for Android updates focus on making videos easier to watch and files easier to upload. According to Google's Workspace Updates blog, the Android app is finally getting the same revamped video player that rolled out on the web last year. The refreshed design moves playback controls below the video rather than overlaying them, making them easier to see and use. It also includes quick access to captions, playback speed, and full-screen mode. We first previewed the Android version of this player back in March, when code in a Drive app teardown hinted at the visual overhaul. At the time, the updated layout could be manually enabled but hadn't yet rolled out to users. Google Drive's mobile upload experience is also getting a facelift. You can now rename files and select their destination folder as soon as you hit upload, and a new progress bar gives a clearer view of how much remains. There's also an Upload tab where you can keep track of pending and recently completed uploads. Both changes have fully rolled out to all Workspace customers and personal Google accounts. Got a tip?
