More than £2,500 is raised for family of ‘beloved' Rhyl man

Christopher Pollitt, known as Poll, was found dead aged 41 at his home in Rhyl on May 28.
In his memory, and to support his family, The Glanglasfor pub hosted a special event at its premises last Saturday (June 7).
There was live music and karaoke, and a raffle with prizes including a three-hour tattoo session and a £50 bar tab, the latter of which was donated by pub barmaid Emma Roberts.
A total of £362 was raised from the event for Mr Pollitt's family.
A book of condolences was set up for Chris Pollitt at The Glanglasfor (Image: Submitted) Ms Roberts, who got to know and became friends with Mr Pollitt in the last six months, said: 'We were busy from the minute the doors opened to close.
'It was an amazing day, and the family came down to see us, too, which was lovely.
'He was just a character; we all loved him.'
The Glanglasfor said: 'Poll was a regular customer in the pub, and on many days, just came in to stand and make us all laugh with his one liner jokes.
'Poll is going to be sadly missed by many people, including us at the The Glan.
"We as a pub are sending all our love to the family at this sad time.'

His funeral will be held at 12pm on Friday (June 13) at St. Margaret's Church (Marble Church) in Bodelwyddan.
Ms Hayes wrote: 'Chris sadly passed away last week. It has come as a huge, huge shock to us as a family and the whole of Rhyl.
'We have received so much love and comfort from everybody in Rhyl and the surrounding areas, and people have offered extremely kind gestures.
'If you would like to make any donations, it will go towards the day.'

Explaining what the man told him, he said: "To be honest with you, they didn't even pay attention. They didn't even know when they lost her, where they lost her, they looked like they didn't even care." Rodriquez, who described Gil as "'careful and cautious", has been left stunned and puzzled by her sudden passing, receiving the news while out of town for work. He told KHOU: "When you see someone that has so much potential, leave this world. This is just sad in and of itself, and it's hard to you know accept that she's not here anymore." The Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis confirmed the recovery of her body on Thursday. A statement said: "I am deeply saddened to learn that the young woman who went missing on Lake Houston hear Alexander Deussen Park has been found deceased. My heart goes out to her family, her loved ones, and everyone affected by this tragic loss." ‌ Three people were on the jet ski when Gil plunged into the water and didn't return to the surface, Houston Police said. Although she was wearing a life jacket in the clip she sent to Rodriquez, officers believe it was not on when she fell. Alexander Deussen Park closed on Wednesday for searches before reopening on Thursday. Gill's family have since launched a fundraiser to help cover her funeral costs, writing in a post: "It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic loss of my beloved sister, Ashley Gil, who passed away after a heartbreaking accident on the lake. "Ashley fell from a jet ski and, despite all efforts, she did not survive. Ashley was a bright light in the lives of so many, full of love, laughter, and kindness. She had an incredible spirit that touched everyone around her. Her absence leaves a deep void in the hearts of our family, friends, and all who knew her." It added: "We are starting this GoFundMe to support our family, especially our mother, during this incredibly difficult time. The funds raised will help cover funeral expenses and any additional costs we may face as we grieve and begin to heal. He was without a flow of oxygen to his brain for 24 minutes before he was revived and rushed to Townsville Hospital, MailOnline reports. He was placed in ICU where doctors found he had little to no brain activity and a week later Issac's wife Lisa was forced to make the heartbreaking decision to turn off his life support. His grieving family initially faced the possibility of losing their family home but mortgage payments have been paused while the family comes up with a solution. Callum started a GoFundMe page to raise funds for house expenses, cremation expenses, daily expenses of Issac's wife and daughter and future bills has raised over $3,000. Th page said: "If donations do come, all of it will be given to his widowed wife and she will use it to best herself and their daughter Rebecca's current financial situation. "She has no idea about any of this (now she does) but I do know this will make her happy cry and to be relieved that even though it's not all the pressure, at least some is taken off her shoulders." In an update on Friday June 20, Callum said his mother had been aware of the campaign and that she had received his stepfather's ashes. He wrote: "Hey guys it's been a few days, not much has changed, mum has received Isaac's ashes back so he's finally back home with her." He added: "The support has been overwhelmingly substantial! Thank you to everyone who has helped so far."
