Man accused of gangland 'murders' of Eddie Lyons and Ross Monaghan appears in court
Michael Riley, 44, appeared in court in the latest stage of the extradition proceedings. The man accused of gunning down Eddie Lyons and Ross Monaghan in Spain appeared in court today. Michael Terrence Riley from the Merseyside area, was arrested by local officers last week in connection with the deaths after an international arrest warrant was issued by Spanish cops. He is charged with two counts of murder and one of possession of a firearm over the incident which saw Monaghan, 43, and Lyons, 46, killed at Monaghan's bar in Fuengirola. Riley first appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court yesterday, Thursday, June 19, but the hearing was delayed due to technical issues. During a brief hearing today, a court date for his next appearance was set, reports the ECHO. Riley, who is represented in court by specialist extradition lawyer Renata Pinter, will appear again before the same court next month, on July 18. He was remanded in custody until then. The full hearing, where Riley will challenge extradition, is scheduled for October 9 this year. The Lyons crime clan has been locked in a deadly feud with the rival Daniel mob for a quarter of a century, following the theft of drugs from a Glasgow safe house in 2001. A top Spanish cop told reporters that the assassinations of Monaghan and Lyons are part of the feud, claiming that Riley is a member of the Daniel gang. Speaking at a press conference in Spain, Pedro Agudo Novo said: "The double murder was carried out by a professional killer and member of one of the victims' rival gangs. "In this case we are not talking about an independent hired killer but an internal member of the rival Daniels gang who ends up assassinating two members of an enemy gang." But Scottish police, who have been investigating the war between the rival crime syndicates for decades, seemed to suggest the killing had nothing to do with their rivalry - or the war on the Daniel mob being waged by Lyons associate Ross McGill. Henchmen of the Dubai-based former Rangers ultra - who headed the Union Bears fan group and is nicknamed 'Miami' - have waged war on the Daniel mob and associates for the last few months. That feud has seen a number of homes, people and businesses targeted in firebombings, knife attacks and shootings, in Glasgow, Edinburgh and surrounding areas, and is being investigated by Police Scotland as part of Operation Portaledge.

Spanish bar where Ross Monaghan and Eddie Lyons Jnr shot dead to reopen under new name
Eddie Lyons Jnr and Ross Monaghan were killed in Monaghan's Bar in Fuengirola. The Spanish bar where two senior figures from a Scottish organised crime group were brutally shot dead is set to reopen this weekend under a new name. Ross Monaghan, 43, and Eddie Lyons Jnr, 46, were shot dead at Monaghan's Bar in Fuengirola in the Costa Del Sol on May 31. The bar, understood to have have been co-owned by Monaghan, will go under the new name of The Irish Rover, reports the BBC. Michael Terrence Riley, from Merseyside, was arrested in England on Friday June 13 in connection with the alleged shootings in the Costa del Sol on May 31 under an international arrest warrant issued by the Spanish authorities. The 44-year-old has been charged with two counts of murder and one of possession of a firearm. He appeared via videolink from HMP Wandsworth on Thursday June 19 to confirm his name and date of birth during a brief hearing. The hearing was adjourned until Friday June 20 due to problems with the feed, so he can appear in the dock in person. His full extradition hearing is expected to be held later this year. Mongahan and Lyons Jnr, both linked to the Lyons crime clan, were targeted by a lone gunman in front of friends and customers after watching the Champions League final. The Spanish National Police noted the suspect's gun jammed after he killed Lyons Jnr with a single shot outside the bar, before pursuing Monaghan inside and firing two shots which proved fatal. Speaking at a press conference in Spain on Tuesday, Chief Supt Pedro Agudo Novo said: "The double murder was carried out by a professional killer and member of one of the victims' rival gangs. "In this case we are not talking about an independent hired killer but an internal member of the rival Daniels gang who ends up assassinating two members of an enemy gang." The Chief Supt also alleged the killer was not an independent hired killer but an internal member of the rival Daniel gang. However Police Scotland, who have been investigating the war between the rival crime syndicates for decades, seemed to suggest the killing had nothing to do with their rivalry - or the war on the Daniel mob being waged by Lyons associate Ross McGill. Henchmen of the Dubai-based former Rangers ultra have targeted the Daniel mob and associates since March over a fallout regarding a stolen stash of cocaine. Homes, people and businesses have been targeted in firebombings, knife attacks and shootings, in Glasgow, Edinburgh and surrounding areas, and is being investigated by Police Scotland as part of Operation Portaledge. Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Houston previously said: "We are not aware of any current evidence which suggests the deaths of these two men in Spain are linked to the recent criminal attacks in Scotland being investigated as part of Operation Portaledge. "We are aware of the statement from the Spanish Police and although we cannot comment on an ongoing investigation in another jurisdiction, our position remains that we have no current evidence to suggest that this incident was orchestrated from Scotland. "We are aware of the arrest of an individual in the Merseyside area and will continue to support colleagues in Spain where necessary and if required by them." Edinburgh gang war enforcers warn of 'new wave of attacks' in chilling video
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The mob behind a series of firebombings in Edinburgh have warned of further attacks in a chilling new video. Gangland enforcers have vowed to step up attacks and target those associated with Mark Richardson and the Daniel crime clan as footage of the latest firebombing also featured. The faceless gang waging war on those in Edinburgh and Glasgow on behalf of kingpin Ross McGill issued the warning and insisted they have no social media accounts and never will. They also posted footage of a property on Jackson Way in Tranent on fire after it was targeted on Friday, June 13. As the Record reports, the front door and a window were engulfed in flames. The clip then ends with a warning more attacks will come as they boasted of targeting more than 40 people since March as cars, businesses and homes linked to both Richardson and the Daniels suffered significant damage. They then went on to mock one of Mark Richardson's top associates David McMillan, who was allegedly attacked with machetes by thugs outside his Edinburgh home last month. A warning from the gang read: "Since March, more than 40 people have had their houses, businesses and cars torched. The majority of you have left your homes throughout this period. "David McMillan is one of the few who stayed put, albeit he hired 24/7 security to sit outside his home. Look how that worked out... "You have retaliated against us by creating social media accounts, sending fake stories to the papers and burning the odd car. "TMJ have no social media accounts, never have and never will. We will continue to target you on a regular basis for stealing from us." McGill has been waging war on Mark Richardson's crime mob from Edinburgh and the Daniel clan from Glasgow since March after he was ripped off in a £500,000 cocaine deal when the buyer used fake bank notes. Police Scotland have vowed to crackdown on the violence, and have arrested 48 people in connection with Operation Portaledge.
