Pixel 10 Pro images may give us our best look at the phone yet — and it looks very familiar
It's rare to arrive at a Google phone launch without knowing just about everything there is to know about the upcoming phones, and it looks like the Pixel 10 isn't going to be an exception.
Not only have we heard rumors about when the phone will arrive, but now a series of hands-on images seem to show us what the Pixel 10 Pro will actually look like. Or, at least, what its prototype looks like.
The images come from Chinese social media platform coolapk and were reshared by Mystic Leaks on Telegram. The images seem to show that this Pixel 10 Pro prototype has a rather familiar design, and those expecting it to deviate from the Pixel 9 Pro's design are going to be sorely disappointed.
These images show off something that is more or less identical to last year's Pixel offering. The chunky ovular camera bar, the rounded edges, the (relatively) thick bezel around the display and even the rear-mounted temperature sensor.
The only noticeable change is the addition of a second speaker grille on the bottom of the phone, where the SIM tray is found on the Pixel 9 Pro. As for the SIM tray, that's being shifted to the top, into a spot that already has a suspiciously SIM tray-like dimple. Almost as though Google always wanted the card slot to live at the top of the Pixel 9 series as well.
Also shown are diagnostic screens, showing the phone with a Tensor G5 chipset, 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The G5 seems to be running 8 cores made up of 2x Cortex-A520, 3x Cortex-A725, 2x Cortex-A725 and 1x Cortex-X4
Though two different screens suggest it's running Android 14 and Android 16, which is a red flag for me. Mystic Leaks also notes that the entry for Tensor G5 says "5nm," rather than the rumored 3nm chip we've been hearing about.

Though none of the things we've seen in these images are particularly surprising for a Pixel 10 Pro, we have to err on the side of caution for now. There's always a chance that none of this is real, and someone is trying to pull a fast one on us all.
We'll just have to wait and see what happens as the Pixel 10's launch event draws closer. And with a rumored August 13 launch event on the cards, we shouldn't have to wait too long.

Windows parental controls are crashing Chrome — here's the workaround
Windows 11's Family Safety feature is supposed to block certain websites from children, but apparently it's also been causing issues with Google's Chrome browser, a (vastly more popular) competitor to Microsoft's own Edge. The problem first surfaced on Windows on June 3, per The Verge, when several users started noticing they couldn't open Chrome or their browser would crash randomly. Restarting their computer or reinstalling Chrome didn't fix the issue, and other browsers like Firefox and Opera appeared unaffected. On Monday, a Google spokesperson posted in the company's community forum that it had investigated these reports and found the issues were linked to Microsoft's new Windows Family Safety feature. This optional feature is primarily used by parents and schools to manage children's screen time, filter their web browsing, and monitor their online activity. Curiously, the bug has been going on for weeks now, and Microsoft still hasn't issued a patch. 'We've not heard anything from Microsoft about a fix being rolled out,' wrote a Chromium engineer in a bug tracking thread on June 10. 'They have provided guidance to users who contact them about how to get Chrome working again, but I wouldn't think that would have a large effect.' While this issue could be an innocent bug, Microsoft has a history of placing annoying hurdles between Edge and Chrome to entice users to stick with its browser. So anytime a technical snafu makes Chrome run worse on Windows PCs, Microsoft understandably gets some serious side eye. Thankfully, there seem to be two ways to get around this bug while we wait for Microsoft to issue a fix, and they're both fairly simple. The most straightforward is to turn off the "Filter Inappropriate Websites" setting. Head to the Family Safety mobile app or Family Safety web portal, select a user's account, and choose to disable "Filter inappropriate websites" under the Edge tab. However, that'll remove the guardrails on Chrome and let your child access any website, including the ones you were trying to block in the first place. If you want to keep the guardrails on and still use Chrome, some users reported that altering the name in your Chrome folder (to something like Chrome1, for example), got the browser to work again even with the Family Safety feature enabled.

After Iranians were cut off from the world for four days, the country's nearly complete internet blackout was abruptly lifted late Friday for some Iranians, who managed to get access to weak connections by switching to different servers or perhaps through sheer luck. But many said they thought the connections were temporary or unsafe, with the government still imposing tight restrictions that were difficult to bypass. 'It feels like we're in a dark cave,' said Arta, an Iranian who fled Tehran on Tuesday and was able to briefly send a few messages over Instagram late Friday. Like many others who have exchanged messages with The New York Times over the last week, he asked to be identified only by his first name to avoid scrutiny by the authorities. 'Even SMS texts don't go through sometimes,' he said. Many Iranians rely on virtual private networks, or VPNs, to evade government restrictions on the internet, but many of those services have been disrupted since Israel's attacks began. On Saturday, as some connection returned, providers urged their users to act cautiously. 'For your own sake, don't spread the link, the server will disconnect, and our work will only get harder,' one organizer wrote on a VPN provider's Telegram channel. Photos of luxury superyacht that sank off Sicily, killing 7, being lifted from the ocean
PORTICELLO, Italy (AP) — A British-flagged luxury superyacht that sank off Sicily in 2024, killing U.K. tech magnate Mike Lynch and six others, has been recovered from the sea. The 56-meter (184-foot) Bayesian was lifted by salvage crews near the port of Porticello, where it sank on Aug. 19 last year during a violent storm. A floating crane platform will move the Bayesian to the Sicilian port of Termini Imerese, where a special steel cradle is waiting for it.
