I've Traveled With This White Suitcase For Two Years to 8 Countries—It Still Looks Shockingly New

Whether you're a frequent traveler or enjoy one epic vacation per year, a reliable suitcase is non-negotiable. I fly about 30 times a year, and I'm not ashamed to admit that, these days, I prioritize stylish suitcases over those that are purely functional. Two years ago, I was introduced to the Delsey Paris Chatelet Air 2.0 collection while luggage testing in Travel+Leisure 's New York City lab. After flying with the 20-inch carry-on and medium checked bag to over four countries and half a dozen cities domestically (including five trips to Chicago), I'm here to say that these white suitcases are just as durable as they are stunning. I've flown with both the Delsey Chatelet Carry-on and medium checked bags at least 20 times and, while I'm a notorious checked bag traveler, this carry-on is the perfect size for overhead bins. I've gate checked (and paid to check) the 20-inch carry-on a number of times and am always impressed that it arrives at the luggage carousel with only minor scuffs that easily come out with the help of a MagicEraser. Similarly, every time I've checked the medium suitcase, it arrives with only minor scuffs, usually around the vulnerable corners and edges (the main surface of the bags have grooves, making it scuff-resistant). It also helps that each corner of the bags is reinforced with faux leather accents for protection and steady wheels that prevent scuffing on the bottom corners.
As a frequent flyer, I also appreciate that in a sea of black and blue suitcases, this white and brown style stands out—making it easier to identify my bag at the end of a long flight. While I've found the white style to be incredibly stain-resistant, the Chatelet collection also comes in pink, blush ink, brown, navy blue, and navy on navy for variety.
For a security bonus, the suitcases are also built with TSA-approved combination locks that allow you to set your own combo. They're really easy to reset and I especially appreciate that the main zippers insert into the locks to engage them and cannot be moved until you enter your number combo. This also prevents your zippers from flapping around, jiggling, and possibly getting damaged in transit. Attached to the lock is the USB port where you can hook up a portable charger to quickly turn this stylish bag into a smart bag. Credit: Travel + Leisure

Inside, the bags are lined with sturdy red fabric that is treated with Silvadur technology for odor-control. After attending a baby shower in Chicago, a jar of honey spilled in my Delsey Medium Checked suitcase on the flight home. All the sticky residue came up after soaking the spot in warm water and treating with a stain remover.
For large checked bags and carry-ons alike, sleek, reliable wheels are essential. The Delsey Chatelets feature four 360-degree wheels for easy gliding that travels over just about any surface with minimal force. I've even rolled the carry-on and medium checked bags over sandy paths in Egypt and cobblestone streets in Italy with very little issue (and the wheels themselves are also easy to clean.)
As a taller traveler (I'm 5-foot 9-inches and my husband is 6-foot 4-inches), I also appreciate that the retractable handle has two different heights for easy use. The handle itself also has a soft-touch top as do the bags' side and top carrying handles. This has especially come in handy when lifting the carry-on into overhead plane and train compartments. With a 44-liter volume and weighing in at just under 8 pounds when empty, the 20-inch carry-on is also the perfect size for long weekend trips (or to supplement your larger checked bags.) I used the carry-on on a five-day trip to Italy and it was the perfect size when paired with a backpack as my personal item. On a two week trip to Egypt and Morocco, the medium checked bag was perfect for everything I needed while the 20-inch carry-on held my husband's clothing and essentials.
The suitcases in the Chatelet collection also feature a standard clam-shell design with organizational features to keep your items from shifting around in-transit. The 20-inch carry-on features clips on one side to strap your items in place and the other size fully zips closed to contain clothing and other items. There are also two zippered pockets built into this closed side and the suitcase itself comes with two removable shoe bags for extra organization. Credit: Travel + Leisure

At the end of the day, a white suitcase is a white suitcase, and you're going to walk away with some scratches eventually. That said, considering the coloring, this suitcase looks incredible after more than 20 flights. As someone who also volunteers to gatecheck my carry-on as often as possible, I love that this suitcase always comes back in excellent shape.
This carry-on may look delicate, but after two years of testing, I can say that the Delsey Chatelet is the perfect combination of style and substance. To complete your travel collection, you can also snag a bag in the same style of underseat suitcase, shoulder bag, stylish backpack, and even a pet carrier.

A Chicago girl who now resides in New York, she flies between the two cities at least five times per year, usually with her Delsey Carry-on in tow.

Panthers parade set for Sunday in Fort Lauderdale. Here's what you need to know

As Fort Lauderdale prepares for the Florida Panthers' second straight Stanley Cup championship parade, city officials and fans are offering key advice for navigating the celebration. With large crowds expected, transportation and parking will be major considerations for anyone heading to the beachside event. Parade route and rally details The parade begins at noon Sunday on A1A at Riomar Street and continues south to Southeast 5th Street, where a rally will be held on a stage. Crews have already started setting up barricades and building the stage along the beach. "The Elbo Room all the way down the beach. It's gonna be amazing," said Rich Rodriguez, who attended last year's celebration. Rodriguez and his friend Alex Guzman described the 2023 event as a once-in-a-lifetime experience—and one that gave them important insight into planning for this year's festivities. "If you're driving here, you're just gonna get stuck somewhere," Rodriguez said. Parking, transportation and arrival tips The City of Fort Lauderdale says 26 nearby parking garages will be open for the event, but walking distances to the venue could range from five minutes to over an hour. "Parking is gonna be difficult. So make sure you use ride share or carpool. Water taxi will be available," said Mayor Dean Trantalis. Rodriguez and Guzman opted for the water taxi last year and say it's the way to go. "It's well worth it. You don't have to drive. If you're drinking you don't have to worry about anything like that. The traffic. You can see there are two lanes on the road and it's gonna be really really crowded," Rodriguez said. Rodriguez added that he arrived at the water taxi about three and a half hours before the start of the parade last year. "Last time we got here at about 8:30 and there were already hundreds of thousands of people here. And it was stormy," he said. Police presence and safety measures Fort Lauderdale police say there are no known threats to the event. Officials added that it will be "all hands on deck," meaning nearly every officer not on vacation will be working during Sunday's parade.

Ramp Raises $200 Million for Expense and Biz Travel Management: Startup Funding Roundup

Startups for business travel management and flying taxis are still raising a lot of money. Travel Startup Funding This Week Each week we round up jd@ if you have funding news. Each week we round up travel startups that have recently received or announced funding . Please email Travel Tech Reporter Justin Dawes atif you have funding news. There's a lot of money going into tech platforms to manage business travel and expenses. The most recent is Ramp, which raised $200 million this week. It comes months after TravelPerk raised $200 million, with multiple other companies raising smaller rounds. Also this week: Navan, a corporate travel agency, has taken a step toward becoming a public company. And flying taxi companies — most recently Archer Aviation — have been raising billions of dollars in their race to operate commercially. Between Ramp, Archer Aviation, and a small startup, travel companies raised over $1 billion in the past week. Ramp: $200 Million Ramp, an expense management platform with travel booking capabilities, has raised $200 million in series E funding. The latest funding values the company at $16 billion, a jump from $13 billion since its previous fundraise in March and $7.65 billion since its series D extension in 2024. Founders Fund led the round for the fifth time. Other investors included Thrive Capital, D1 Capital Partners, General Catalyst, GIC, ICONIQ Growth, Khosla Ventures, Sands Capital, 8VC, Lux Capital, Stripes, 137 Ventures, Avenir Growth, and Definition Capital. Ramp said it has now raised a total of $1.4 billion in equity financing. The New York City-based company started with a focus on corporate cards and helping clients manage receipts, but it's been building out tech since 2022 to help client companies book and manage travel. The company's Ramp Travel product allows clients' employees to book travel with inventory from Priceline. The platform also has integrations with TravelPerk, Lyft and Uber for Business. Ramp automatically collects receipts from any bookings with partners, removing the need to submit expenses. Client companies can set travel policies and manage approvals through the platform. Ramp last month released a feature that automatically rebooks a hotel if the price drops. It's one of 270 features that the company has released this year, which the company said were all developed with the help of AI. Ramp said it has more than 40,000 companies, including CBRE, Shopify, Anduril, Notion, Cursor, Vercel, and Barry's. The company said its platform handles $80 billion in purchases annually. Ramp said the funding will go toward improving the AI-powered product and expanding business, particularly in the U.S. Archer Aviation: $850 Million Archer Aviation, which is developing a flying taxi for urban use, has raised $850 million. The funding comes from a direct offering of 85 million shares of stock for $10 per share. The company had previously raised nearly $2 billion, including $430 million last year. California-based Archer is developing an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft called Midnight. It is designed to hold a pilot with four passengers and luggage for urban trips of 20-50 miles at speeds of up to 150 miles per hour. It is powered by six independent battery packs, each supporting a pair of electric engines. The company is also developing aircraft for the U.S. military. Archer said in May that it plans to provide air taxi services for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and for Team USA. The company last year unveiled plans for an air taxi network in Los Angeles. The network includes vertiports (eVTOL airports) at Los Angeles International Airport, University of Southern California, Orange County, Santa Monica, Hollywood Burbank, Long Beach, and the Van Nuys neighborhood. The company is also planning to establish a vertiport near the SoFi Stadium, home of the Los Angeles football teams Rams and Chargers. The plan is to begin LA network operations in 2026. This is in addition to plans for a network at California airports where Southwest Airlines operates, along with five vertiports in the Bay Area. Travlounge: $2.9 Million Travlounge, which designs roadside rest stops with sleeping pods, has raised $2.9 million (250 million Indian rupees). The funding comes from Gokulam Group. India-based Travlounge says its facilities include tech-enabled sleeping pods, washrooms, cafes, travel-focused markets, and charging stations for electric vehicles. The company has also released an app for trip planning. The funding will go toward expanding beyond its first two locations in India.
