After dominating the West Indies in three one-day internationals, England was expected to receive a tougher fight from the visitor, higher-rated in T20s than ODIs, and bolstered by World Cup champions Andre Russell, Jason Holder and Johnson Charles.

Spurs defender Bartrip signs new long-term deal

Tottenham Hotspur defender Molly Bartrip has signed a new long-term contract with the club until summer 2028. WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Lilywhites this morning. Advertisement The 29-year-old centre-back spent some of her youth with Spurs before turning out for their London rivals Charlton Athletic and Arsenal. Bartrip started her senior playing career with former top tier side Reading in 2014 and she spent seven successful years with The Royals. In summer 2021, Bartrip returned home to Spurs and she has been a regular in the side during her time back in North London. The defender was an ever-present for The Lilywhites in the Barclays Women's Super League this season. In 2023/2024, Bartrip picked up an Adobe Women's FA Cup final runners-up medal with Spurs contesting the showpiece for the very first time in their history. It was the first time that the player collected a medal since winning the old FAWSL2 with Reading in 2015. Bartrip is a hugely important player for Spurs and the club have therefore opted to retain her services for three more years. She will be hoping to help the club climb the Barclays Women's Super League table under new management next season.

Ibrahima Konaté disappointed with Liverpool contract offer as talks stall

Ibrahima Konaté is stalling on signing a new deal at Liverpool, raising fears at the club that another key player could run down his contract after this summer's departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The French defender enters the final year of his deal next month and is understood to have rejected Liverpool's initial offer of an extension. Advertisement Related: Florian Wirtz looks ready-made to be a key piece of the puzzle at Liverpool | Andy Brassell Konaté's contract talks were delayed by Liverpool's focus on negotiating with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk last season, with both signing new two-year deals in April before re-signing the Dutchman's defensive partner became the club's priority. The 26-year-old is understood to be disappointed by the structure of Liverpool's offer, with his representatives believed to be pushing for a higher basic wage after the offer was heavily based on meeting certain performance targets. Failure to agree a new contract with Konaté before the end of the summer would leave Liverpool with a dilemma given the furore over Alexander-Arnold's move to Real Madrid. Although Liverpool eventually banked £10m for Alexander-Arnold because of Madrid's determination to sign him in time to play at the Club World Cup that fee is a fraction of his value. Andy Robertson is also about to enter the final 12 months of his contract, with Liverpool willing to sell him to Atlético Madrid if the left-back wants to leave. The goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher joined Brentford in an £18m deal this month with one year left on his contract. Advertisement Liverpool plan to revive discussions with Konaté later in the summer but are adamant they will not be forced into overpaying. After a busy start to the transfer window during which Liverpool have done deals worth a combined £145.5m for Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, Arne Slot's central defensive options are the one remaining area of uncertainty. Jarell Quansah is on the verge of completing a £35m move to Bayer Leverkusen, and Liverpool are monitoring Marc Guéhi's situation at Crystal Palace, with Newcastle and Tottenham also interested in the England international. As the Guardian reported, the 24-year-old has made clear he will not sign a new contract at Selhurst Park, and with 12 months left he is eager to secure a move to a club that can offer guaranteed playing time before next summer's World Cup.

Dream striker is now BEGGING for a Liverpool approach

Liverpool have got big plans to land an elite No9 this summer. With Darwin Nunez set for a transfer out of the club, it leaves space for a new option in the centre-forward position. The Uruguayan has simply failed to win over Arne Slot over the course of the last year - scoring only five Premier League goals during the title-winning season. Advertisement The 25-year-old would prefer to stay in Europe and AC Milan, Atletico Madrid as well as Napoli have all been extensively linked. And if Nunez goes, the Reds sporting director Richard Hughes will have plenty of money to add to the transfer kitty. Liverpool could earn around £60m for Nunez - which can be then put towards a new striker. Isak is Liverpool's dream No9 The dream option remains Alexander Isak. Newcastle's main centre-forward scored 23 goals as the Magpies qualified for the Champions League last season. He has taken a huge step forward towards world-class status - but currently doesn't have the pay packet to match. Advertisement Having signed from Real Sociedad for £63m back in 2022, the Swede is under contract at St. James' Park until 2028 on around £120k per week. Compared to his striking peers, that is a relative pittance. Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland for example are both on over £500k per week with their respective clubs. Newcastle would dearly love to tie Isak down to a new deal - in order to avoid him leaving on a free transfer down the line - but it's going to take one almighty pay bump. Isak welcomes Liverpool interest And that is why, according to Ben Jacobs, the 25-year-old is very welcoming of Liverpool's genuine interest. The player will be seeking to use Liverpool's offers as leverage in upcoming contract talks with Newcastle - thereby extracting the maximum salary possible. Advertisement 'Is Isak welcoming of the links? Of course, because it gives him maximum leverage to go back to Newcastle and give him a new deal,' he tells NUFC Matters. 'There's a lot of noise because the interest is genuine.' But there remains the possibility that Liverpool test Newcastle's resolve this summer if they conduct the right amount of outgoing business.
