Two teenagers killed in crash involving car found with drugs in Temerloh

TEMERLOH: Two teenagers were killed yesterday after the motorcycle they were riding was rammed by a car, which was later found to be carrying drugs.
In the 11pm incident, Nur Irdina Shaffiya Muhammad Nazri and her pillion rider, Aneez Irdiena Sofya Khairul Azman, both 18, died on the spot at a traffic light junction along Jalan Tengku Ismail here.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mazlan Hassan said the 38-year-old driver of a Perodua Bezza, from Kuala Lumpur, who crashed into the teenagers, escaped unhurt.
"The motorcycle and the Bezza were both travelling from Mentakab towards the Bukit Angin roundabout in Temerloh.
"Nur Irdina had stopped her Yamaha Ego Avantiz motorcycle at the traffic light when the Bezza rammed into them, killing both victims instantly," he said in a statement today.
He said that during an inspection of the vehicle at the Temerloh district police headquarters around 12.30am, police found two packets containing a crystalline substance believed to be syabu, weighing 50.85g, and heroin weighing 0.85g, with a total estimated value of RM6,100 in the rear seat.
Mazlan said the driver tested negative for drugs but is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction. He is expected to be remanded today.
The bodies of both victims have been sent to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital for post-mortem.

JOHOR BARU: Police have crippled a drug syndicate and seized over RM6.87 million worth of narcotics in raids at Mutiara Rini. A 45-year-old man and two Vietnamese women were arrested during two operations on June 14 and 15, during which police confiscated more than 42kg of various drugs. Johor police chief Datuk M. Kumar said the women, aged 34 and 23, were believed to be working as the man's aides. Initial investigations revealed the syndicate had been active since early this year, operating out of two rented double-storey terrace houses used to process, repackage and store drugs. "The first house, rented under the main suspect's name since April 2023, contained 2,670g of powder believed to be ecstasy and 368g of suspected cannabis. "We believe the drugs were processed and packaged at this location. "Following the arrest, the suspect led police to another house about 1km away, which he had rented just last month. "There, police seized 38,022g of suspected ecstasy powder and 1,375g of suspected ketamine. We believe this second premises was used as a drug storage facility before distribution," he said at a press conference at the Johor police headquarters today. Kumar said the total value of the seized drugs was RM6,875,354 — enough to supply 146,195 addicts. In addition to the drugs, police confiscated processing and repackaging equipment, two vehicles, RM49,150 in cash, SGD2,580 (about RM8,835), and assorted jewellery, bringing the total value of seizures to more than RM7.14 million. Kumar said the syndicate processed the drugs and repackaged them into small packets ranging from 30g to 100g, selling them locally for between RM250 and RM350 each. "The suspect identified buyers and marketed the drugs via social media. "Some of the drugs were delivered directly by syndicate members, while others were left at designated drop-off points for buyers to collect," he said. Urine tests showed all three suspects tested positive for methamphetamine, ketamine and benzodiazepines. They have been remanded until this Thursday for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug trafficking, and Section 6(3) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for immigration offences.

Indonesian man claims trial to rape of teen in Tuaran

Ari Ambo Tang pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan to allegedly committing the offence in a worker's quarters at Kampung Giling between 5pm and 8pm in mid-March this year. He was charged under Section 376(2)(d) of the Penal Code, which carries up to 30 years' jail and whipping upon conviction for raping a girl under 16, with or without her consent. The court fixed July 22 for pre-trial case management and released Ari on RM6,000 bail with two local sureties, ordering him to report to Tuaran police station twice a month and prohibiting contact with prosecution witnesses. Suspected drug dealer held in Lahad Datu

District Acting Police Chief, Supt. Jimmy Panyau said, the drugs were found inside an ice cream container inside one of the rooms in the house. The 46-year-old Filipino man was also tested positive for consuming amphetamine and methamphetamine.
