Sinclair's Multicast Networks CHARGE, Comet, ROAR and The Nest Announce Record Breaking Growth and New Programming Acquisitions

BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sinclair today announced record-breaking growth, best-season-to-date ratings, and premium programming acquisitions across its free, over-the-air multicast networks, CHARGE, Comet, ROAR and The Nest.
The networks posted gains fueled by several strategic initiatives, including the acquisition of anchor series, expanded distribution in top 10 DMA markets, rebranding of TBD to ROAR, strategic programming decisions, and successful fan-focused, multi-platform events including COMET FEST and CHARGECON.
These strategic moves, combined with the highest year-over-year coverage growth among all Nielsen-rated broadcast networks 1, have propelled the networks to impressive season-to-date ratings growth in the top 10 DMAs with CHARGE up 21% YoY, Comet up 17%, and ROAR up 40% among total viewers. 2
To further drive growth, Sinclair has acquired new premium series and movies for the upcoming 2025-26 season across all four multicast networks:
CHARGE, the go-to destination for the biggest police procedural franchises in TV history, will add two powerhouse series to the fall schedule with Criminal Minds and Homicide: Life on the Street, marking the series' return to broadcast television. These join an already stellar lineup that includes CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Comet, the leading sci-fi and fantasy network on free TV, boosts its schedule this fall with fan favorites Xena: Warrior Princess and The Outer Limits, alongside Stargate SG1, Grimm and The X-Files, plus blockbuster 'Mega Movies' featuring The Matrix trilogy for Comet Fest 2026, Spaceballs, directed by Mel Brooks to celebrate the icon's 100 th birthday, The Terminator, and Star Trek franchises. In November 2026 the network will broadcast Christopher Nolan's groundbreaking film, Interstellar.
ROAR, which features groundbreaking contemporary comedy, adds two series hosted by Jane Lynch, Hollywood Game Night and past seasons of Weakest Link to the fall lineup, which includes previous seasons of Saturday Night Live, Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Key & Peele.
The Nest continues to expand its successful schedule of 'real people, real stories' series and specials, adding Gene Simmons: Family Jewels, Wahlburgers and My Ghost Story in primetime this July, joining Cold Case Files, Ice Road Truckers and Dog the Bounty Hunter.

Everyone — and ages in the class ranged from 70ish down to early 20s — had memories of going to Story Land and we were all so happy to hear it's still around and thriving. My favorite, though, is still the water park in Saco, Maine. Growing up we always did a week camping . . . and would do a day at Splashtown. One of these summers I'm going to take a day off and make the trip — be fun to try it as an adult. Beloved 80s Movie Getting Sequel Nearly 40 Years Later

Hollywood is once again revisiting a beloved movie from the 80s by producing a sequel. This time, however, the long-awaited follow-up likely isn't what you'd expect to see. In fact, the film appears to be an outright parody of such Hollywood business decisions, many of which have been satirized in the below teaser. Fans of this original sci-fi parody from 1987 are going to receive as much self-aware humor and satire as they can handle. The world of sci-fi and merchandising has only become more saturated since the release of the original film. The above teaser points that out quite clearly. As such, there are plenty of opportunities for this new follow-up to make fun of the current entertainment industry while also respecting the hilarious story and characters featured in the classic movie. Here's the teaser as shared by the one and only Mel Brooks: I told you we'd be back — Mel Brooks (@MelBrooks) June 12, 2025 'I told you we'd be back,' Brooks write in the caption for the video where he confirms his own return as Yogurt in the new film. As shared via Deadline, in addition to Brooks as Yogurt, the film is said to also include the return of Bill Pullman as Lone Starr and even Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet. Keke Palmer is also said to be joining the cast, along with Pullman's own son Lewis Pullman. Josh Greenbaum will direct the film while the screenplay was written by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez, and Josh Gad. Additionally, Gad is believed to be starring in the film alongside the other aforementioned cast members. One can imagine other beloved cast members, such as Daphne Zuniga who played Princess Vespa, might also make a return. The long-awaited sequel to the 80s movie classic Spaceballs , which currently does not have a title, is scheduled to hit theaters sometime in 2027. At the very least, it sounds like this film will carry on the satirical spirit of the original cult classic.
