A fourth person is presumed dead after a boat sank off the coast of New York City

NEW YORK — Three people died and a fourth person is presumed dead after a boat sank off the coast of New York City, authorities said Monday. Two others were hospitalized.
The U.S. Coast Guard called off its search around 6 p.m. Monday after failing to locate 52-year-old Vernon Glasford, of the Bronx, the last of the six people who were aboard the Grady White.
The 30-foot vessel went down 5 miles southeast of Breezy Point, Queens, after taking on water around noon Sunday during a recreational fishing excursion, the Coast Guard said.
'We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of Vernon Glasford,' said Capt. Jonathan Andrechik, the commander of Coast Guard Sector New York. 'The decision to suspend a search is always difficult. Though our active search has ended, our support and sympathy remain with all those impacted by this tragic incident.'
The water temperature in the search area was about 38 degrees Fahrenheit.
The other people aboard the boat were located Sunday. A Coast Guard boat crew recovered three people, a Coast Guard air crew recovered one person, and a New York City police aviation crew recovered another person. Four were unresponsive, the Coast Guard said.
The NYPD said Monday morning that the hospitalized people were in critical condition and stable condition.
The search covered approximately 842 square miles over the course of 30 hours and involved helicopters, planes, ships and small boats, the Coast Guard said.

A father has been busted after allegedly leaving his 18-month-old son in a hot vehicle for several hours as he got a haircut and drank at a bar. Scott Allen Gardner, 33, is accused of leaving his son, Sebastian, in his truck on the afternoon of June 6 and going drinking inside Hanky Panky's Lounge in Ormond Beach, Florida. British superyacht resurfaces for first time since tragic sinking

A British superyacht that sank off Sicily last August, claiming seven lives, has resurfaced for the first time as salvage crews prepare to haul it ashore for further investigation. The 56-meter (184-foot) Bayesian, with its distinctive white top and blue hull, emerged from the depths of the sea on Friday, held in a designated area by a yellow floating crane barge. The coast guard confirmed that the full recovery operation, including hauling the vessel ashore, is scheduled to commence on Saturday morning. TMC Maritime, the company overseeing the salvage, stated that the vessel has been slowly raised from its resting place 50 meters (165 feet) below the seabed over the past three days. This meticulous process allowed steel lifting straps, slings, and harnesses to be securely fastened under its keel. David Wilson, a spokesman for TMC Maritime, noted that the first part of the yacht to become visible on the surface was the top of the passenger area, known as the accommodation area.
