Nick Jonas is in final talks to play KISS frontman Paul Stanley in the biopic 'Shout It Out Loud', directed by McG, focusing on KISS's early years.
Nick Jonas has reportedly been lined up to play KISS frontman Paul Stanley in a new biopic.
The pop star/actor is believed to have been tapped to portray the band's frontman in 'Shout It Out Loud', which will be directed by McG and will chart the rock band's rise to fame.
The Hollywood Reporter reports Jonas is in 'final talks" to take on the role of Stanley, while movie bosses are still looking for an actor to play the singer's bassist bandmate Gene Simmons. The group is helping to develop the project while Stanley and Simmons are among the producers along with McG.
Deadline.com reports Jonas plans to take on singing duties in the film and needs time to train his voice to be able to emulate Stanley's signature vocals.
Longtime KISS manager Doc McGhee previously revealed the movie would focus on the band's first four years together after forming in the 1970s.
Speaking to Talking Metal in 2021, he explained: '[The script is] completely done … And the script is about the first four years of KISS. Basically, it's before they were famous – it was up to Cadillac High [KISS' famous gig in a high school gym in Cadillac, Michigan in 1975] , that kind of thing. And I think it's a very interesting look at the formation of KISS, the mindset of how that came about, the social pressure that everybody was in in the '60s and '70s that brought something like KISS to the forefront, that it could actually happen. So it's a very interesting, and I think it's a well-written movie."
Stanley has also previously spoken about the movie, telling broadcaster Kylie Olsson in 2021: '[The movie is] definitely happening. And that's gonna be really interesting. The script was really good. And we really waited until we felt comfortable." He added of actors who could play him in the film: 'I will tell you this: for casting to be accurate in terms of age, we are looking at actors in their early 20s. Honestly, I don't know a whole lot of actors in their early 20s. When people get asked these kinds of questions, they'll say, 'Oh, Brad Pitt,' or this one or that one."
'Well, those guys are in their 50s or 60s, so you're talking about another generation of actors. And I'm the first to say I'm not up on a lot of them. But as the casting process goes on, I'll certainly be there and watching. It'll be interesting to see how someone else- be it the casting people or the director – how they view who I am and who they see doing that. I think I'll learn a lot about their perception of me by who they cast."

Washington DC: Filmmaker Danny Boyle may have won a Best Picture Oscar for his 2008 film Slumdog Millionaire, but the director believes they wouldn't be able to make that film in the present time, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The 28 Years Later director reflected on the Oscar-winning film that starred Dev Patel and Freida Pinto. "Yeah, we wouldn't be able to make that now," he said of the film. "And that's how it should be. It's time to reflect on all that. We have to look at the cultural baggage we carry and the mark that we've left on the world," as per the outlet. When asked whether the production itself amounted to a form of colonialism, the director denied that but added, "Well, only in the sense that everything is. At the time, it felt radical. We made the decision that only a handful of us would go to Mumbai. We'd work with a big Indian crew and try to make a film within the culture. But you're still an outsider. It's still a flawed method. That kind of cultural appropriation might be sanctioned at certain times. But at other times it cannot be." Boyle shared that he is "proud of the film" but noted, "You wouldn't even contemplate doing something like that today. It wouldn't even get financed. Even if I was involved, I'd be looking for a young Indian film-maker to shoot it," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Ralph Fiennes Is ‘Excited' To Play Donald Sutherland's Iconic Hunger Games Role

Ralph Fiennes, best known for playing Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter film series, is all set to step into the shoes of another iconic character. He has been roped in to play President Coriolanus Snow, a character made famous by the late Donald Sutherland in the original Hunger Games films, in the upcoming The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. As expected, the 62-year-old actor is really excited to play the character, once essayed by Sutherland, who passed away in June 2024 at the age of 88. 'Obviously big shoes to sort of stand alongside of, but he brought wonderful complexity to that part, and I'm playing a slightly younger version of him," he told Entertainment Tonight, adding, 'I am challenged but excited. I'm looking forward to it." Fiennes also talked about working with the late actor, saying, 'I worked with Donald Sutherland once. I thought he was fantastic." The two stars worked in the 2006 film Land of the Blind. Directed by Robert Edwards, it was a political satire in which the duo hatch a plan to assassinate their country's leader. While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter at the London premiere of his film 28 Years Later on June 18, the Harry Potter actor said that he was really 'thrilled" to join the world of Hunger Games.
