U-14 cricket: 8-wicket victory for Crazy Rangers

Kanpur: Anirudh Singh's unbeaten century powered Crazy Rangers XI to an 8-wicket victory over Spark International in the Second Deeba Naseem Khan memorial under-14 cricket tournament at Kanpur South ground on Thursday.
Batting first, Spark International reached 7 for 190 in 35 overs, with Mohd Saad making 42, Amrit Sachan 41, Siddhant Singh 32, and Arham Jafari 26. For Crazy Rangers XI, Arish Ansari took 3 for 29 and Ishu Sachan 1 for 27. In reply, Crazy Rangers XI posted 2 for 193 in 24.5 overs, with Udit Srivastava contributing 48 and Anirudh Singh remaining unbeaten on 104. Sarthak Yadav picked up 1 for 22 for Spark International. Anirudh Singh was named man of the match.
In another match, Shubh Anandam XI edged past Patel Properties by one wicket. Patel Properties scored 5 for 215, with Om Gupta top-scoring on 63, Unmukt Singh 43, Nishkarsh Sharma 20, and Mhd Sayan unbeaten on 26. Veer Pratap Singh and Yashasvi Yadav took 1 wicket each for Shubh Anandam XI. Shubh Anandam XI replied with 9 for 216, led by Vishwajit Sachan's 40, Shahbaj Ali's 32, Divyansh Pandey's 23, and Rishabh Gupta's 21.
For Patel Properties, Skand Senger claimed 3 for 16 and Advik took 1 for 23. Unkukt Singh was adjudged man of the match.

Dirdh Patel, a 23-year-old cricketer who had just completed his MSc in Artificial Intelligence, was among the 274 people who died in an Air India plane crash last week. AI 171 - belonging to Boeing Dreamliner 787-8 fleet - crashed seconds after taking off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Thursday. Officials said the aircraft lost altitude soon after taking off at around 1.30 pm. According to BBC and Airedale & Wharfedale Senior Cricket League (where he played) Dirdh Patel was one of 241 passengers and crew members who died when the plane travelling from Ahmedabad to London crashed. "The League is extremely sad to learn of the death of Dirdh Patel of Leeds Modernians CC in yesterday's Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. He is the brother of Krutik Patel, formerly of Pool CC," the league said. "Dirdh was the overseas player for Leeds Modernians CC in 2024, scoring 312 runs and taking 29 wickets for the 1st XI in 20 matches, whilst completing his Masters degree during the year. It was his intention to register as an Overseas Born English Resident player once settled into his new job. "Leeds Modernians have confirmed that they will be holding a minute's silence before their 1st and 2nd team matches this weekend.
