RTA highlights upcoming Al Quoz Community projects
The Customer Council of Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) held a discussion session with residents and frequent visitors of the Al Quoz area to familiarise them with RTA's plans for traffic and infrastructure development, as well as the expected improvements and related impacts.
During the session, RTA also shared details of upcoming projects slated for 2025, including Phase Two of the Latifa bint Hamdan Corridor Development Project, Al Meydan Street Development Project, Umm Suqeim Street Upgrade and enhancements on Al Marabea' Street.
The session is part of RTA's ongoing efforts to strengthen direct communication channels between the community and government officials.
It also served as a platform for Al Quoz residents to share their feedback and suggestions regarding the development of major road corridors, paving of internal streets, and installation of lighting in residential neighbourhoods.
Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of the Public Transport Agency and First Vice Chair of the Customers Council at RTA chaired the session. Also in attendance were Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency, and Meera Ahmad Al Shaikh, Director of Customer Happiness, along with several directors and officials from various RTA agencies and sectors responsible for road and infrastructure development across Dubai.
Fahad Sulaiman Arab, Deputy Director and Manager of Roads Construction at the Traffic and Roads Agency, highlighted the recent upgrades on First Al Khail Road and Phase One of Latifa bint Hamdan Street. He also outlined the resulting improvements in traffic flow and road safety.
During the session, Al Quoz residents discussed RTA's upcoming infrastructure works, particularly along Al Asayel Street, Al Waha Street, and Al Meydan Street.

Dubai is gearing up to take another bold leap in its smart mobility journey. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced today that it has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding with Uber Technologies, Inc. and WeRide, a global autonomous driving leader, to kickstart pilot operations of self-driving taxis later this year. These collaborations are part of the city's broader Self-Driving Transport Strategy and aim to establish Dubai as a global testing ground for next-gen mobility solutions. The partnerships, he added, also support the goals of the Dubai Smart Self-Driving Transport Strategy, which seeks to convert 25% of all mobility journeys in the emirate into autonomous trips across various transport modes by 2030. The collaboration is also part of RTA's First and Last-Mile Strategy, designed to streamline travel between public transport stations and commuters' starting or ending points. WeRide, which already launched robotaxis in Abu Dhabi in 2021, now deepens its presence in the UAE with this Dubai pilot. Baidu, meanwhile, is preparing its debut via its autonomous ride-hailing platform Apollo Go, which has already logged more than 150 million kilometers of autonomous driving in China. This marks Dubai as a key international hub for AV expansion beyond East Asia, North America, and Europe. 'We're building the future of transportation by collaborating with top AV innovators to bring this technology to cities across the world,' said Noah Zych, Uber's Global Head of Autonomous Mobility and Delivery Operations. 'Dubai is a natural next step.' WeRide operates in over 30 cities across 10 countries and holds driverless permits in the UAE, China, the US, Singapore, and France. Its tie-up with Uber in Dubai is its second regional collaboration after Abu Dhabi. RTA sees autonomous vehicles as a critical tool for reducing traffic accidents—90 per cent of which are caused by human error. AVs also expand access to transport for people of determination, the elderly, and others with limited mobility. Baidu's Apollo Go, which will also offer its services through its dedicated app in Dubai, has become the world's largest operator of driverless fleets. Its sixth-generation robotaxi, the RT6, has been widely welcomed by riders in China for comfort, safety, and efficiency. By 2026, Dubai's streets could see fully driverless taxis becoming a familiar sight. L&T lands key Middle East grid infrastructure contracts
Indian engineering and construction conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced that its Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business vertical has secured new grid infrastructure orders in the Middle East as well in the Indian market. In the Middle East, the PT&D business has clinched orders for executing a set of 220kV and 132kV gas insulated substations on a turnkey basis, said L&T in a statement. These orders come from leading transmission asset owners and operators in the respective countries, it stated. In India, L&T has won an order to build 765kV and 400kV transmission line jobs pertaining to the integration of a Renewable Energy Zone in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. These new orders mark a key milestone for PT&D in its pursuit of delivering future-ready grid infrastructure to help realise the energy transition and sustainable energy goals of its valued customers, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
