Shubman Gill captaincy stats and win/loss record ahead of England vs India Test series
Shubman Gill will embark on his first series as India's Test captain when India takes on England in a five-match series, the first Test of which begins at Headingley, Leeds on June 20.
The 25-year-old's only prior experience of captaining India was during a five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe in July 2024.
In T20 cricket, apart from that solitary series away at Zimbabwe, Gill has captained his state team, Punjab and the Gujarat Titans franchise in the IPL.

Meanwhile, Gill also completed 2000 runs in test cricket, the batter took 60 innings to achieve this feat. Both Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli completed 2000 test runs in their first match as captain. Gill is the 23rd player to score a century in a debut innings as captain and the fourth youngest among those behind Herbie Taylor, Alastair Cook, and Steven Smith. Gill brought up his 100 in 140 deliveries in an innings peppered with 14 boundaries as he kept India steady.
