Maharashtra report card: 12 of 48 govt depts score perfect 100, eight below 60 per cent
At least 12 of the 48 departments in Maharashtra achieved 100 per cent of their target in the 100 days set by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis soon after he took charge of the Mahayuti government last December, found a performance assessment carried out by the Quality Control of India.
The performance of eight departments was below 60 per cent. Atleast three departments—General Administration (24 per cent), Urban Development (34 per cent) and Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (33 per cent)—which recorded poor performance are held by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar respectively.
Fadnavis had set an ambitious target for each department to complete their works in the first 100 days after he took oath of office on December 5 last year. The objective was to expedite the administrative machinery, making it more transparent and accountable and according top priority to citizen services.
Underlying these initiatives was an attempt to measure the outcome of every department and assess how much each of them delivered on promises and programmes within the stipulated timeline. It was to inculcate a work culture where administrative index based on parameters drawn would be periodically measured to see how fast and what was delivered within the time frame.
Fadnavis took to social media platform X to disclose department-wise performance statistics. He stated that 12 departments successfully fulfilled all of their designated objectives. These include Water Resources, Home, Rural Development, Animal Husbandry, Ports, Higher and Technical Education, Labour, Textiles, Cultural Affairs, Mining, Dairy Development and the Employment Guarantee Scheme.
There are 18 departments whose performance is above 80 per cent—Energy, Industry, Revenue, Transport, School education, Food and drugs administration, Aviation, Skill development, Woman and Child Development, Agriculture, Fisheries, Urban Development (2), Medical Education, Information and technology, Cooperation, Excise and public health.
There are 10 departments whose performance index is in the range of 60 to 80 per cent—Marathi bhasha, public works department, Supply and Sanitation, Tourism, Housing, Social Justice, Water and soil conservation, Sports and youths welfare, Tribal welfare and Environment.

Responding to this, Gadkari gave in-principal approval for the development of nearly all major routes leading to Nashik, with funding to follow after the preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs). Among the major decisions, the long-pending Nashik Ring Road project was approved, along with the six-laning of the Nashik–Trimbakeshwar route, a key corridor for Kumbh pilgrims. Another significant move is the planned redevelopment of Dwarka Circle, a notorious bottleneck. Inspired by Navi Mumbai's Kalamboli Junction model, the circle will undergo a two-phase upgrade—one to be completed before the Kumbh and the other post-festival. Senior ministers Girish Mahajan, Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale, MPs, MLAs, and senior officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), PWD, and Nashik Police were present at the meeting. The consensus was clear—Nashik's existing infrastructure must be transformed to handle the massive traffic loads expected during the religious congregation. Routes like Ghoti–Pahine–Trimbakeshwar–Jawhar Phata, Dwarka Circle–Sinnar–Nandur Shingote–Kolhar, Nashik–Kalyan via Kasara, Nashik–Dhule, Trimbakeshwar–Jawhar–Manor, Shirdi–Shanishingnapur–Ahilyanagar, and others have been identified for rapid enhancement. The Centre has assured support and funding once DPRs are finalised. 'This is not just about roadwork; this is about creating a secure, seamless, and spiritual experience for every devotee visiting Nashik. Fadnavis said, 'I had written to the Prime Minister for the preparation of the national highway network for the Mahakumbh in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar 2027. Today, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari held a meeting regarding this in Nagpur. We demanded 8-9 new roads, which were approved today, including Ring Road and the road to Trimbakeshwar. He has also approved the repairing and widening of all six roads leading to Nashik.' Nagpur to Build New Sewage Treatment Plants for River Pollution Control, ET Infra
Advt Advt By In a major push to reduce pollution in Nag River, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari on Saturday directed city officials to expedite the construction of two key Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) at VNIT and Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV).Fadnavis suggested that both STPs be developed on the lines of the Dharavi model in Mumbai. Fadnavis and Gadkari were holding a review meeting regarding the Nag River Pollution Abatement Project at Hyderabad House on Dharavi model, known for its high-efficiency sewage treatment in minimal space, is now being seen as a blueprint for Nagpur's urban water management challenges. CM Fadnavis specifically recommended that both STPs adopt a compact, high-capacity design similar to the one successfully implemented in Mumbai's Dharavi. Supporting the move, Gadkari asked Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to immediately submit its technical report to enable the speedy execution of the two STPs are seen as critical infrastructure to stop untreated sewage from flowing directly into the Nag River — a long-standing environmental concern in the city. Once complete, the projects are expected to significantly improve the river's water quality and reduce public health risks associated with sewage the STP push, Fadnavis and Gadkari reviewed the city's broader infrastructure progress. Gadkari once again expressed concern over the low-pressure water supply in some localities and directed officials to act promptly. During the meeting, a review of the city's integrated traffic management system and CCTV network was also conducted. Municipal commissioner Abhijeet Chaudhari informed that six teams are working to revive non-functional cameras and that the entire CCTV system will be operational within the next two chief minister also called for a new Detailed Project Report (DPR) that considers Nagpur's future urban expansion. He instructed that any road stretches dug up for utility works, particularly by MSEDCL, be restored without delay. The meeting was attended by revenue minister and guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, MLAs Krishna Khopde and Pravin Datke, urban development principal secretary Govindraj KH, MahaMetro MD Shravan Hardikar, MSIDC MD Brijesh Dixit, district collector Vipin Itankar, and senior officials from NMC, NIT, MSEDCL, and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
