Francophone Gala: What to Expect on Day 2 of Comediablanca

Morocco World30-05-2025

Casablanca- Tonight, the heart of Casablanca is pulsing with laughter and linguistic diversity as the Francophone GALA is taking over the Complexe Mohammed V for the highly anticipated Comediablanca 2025. Starting at 8 p.m., this VIP event is bringing together some of the brightest Francophone talents in comedy for a night of cultural celebration and comedic brilliance. Taking the stage are artists like Roman Frayssinet, Meryem Benoua as a host, Mimo Lazrak, Erick Baert, and many more.
Organized under the banner of TENDANSIA, Comediablanca has quickly become a staple in Morocco's entertainment calendar, championing French-language performance and pan-African creative expression. The gala features a curated lineup of top-tier comedians, delivering sharp wit and vibrant storytelling to a diverse audience.
Launched in 2024, Comediablanca was built on the idea that Morocco's multilingual reality deserves a multilingual stage. By offering both Arabophone and Francophone galas, the festival reflects the linguistic diversity of Moroccan society, giving equal space to local and international voices.
This year's schedule was adjusted to avoid overlap with tomorrow's Wydad AC match against Porta, ensuring smooth crowd management and full focus on the performances.
Beyond entertainment, tonight's gala also offers a deeper kind of release. Studies show that laughter lowers stress, boosts immune response, increases social bonding, and enhances mood – making festivals like Comediablanca more than cultural events. They are public moments of joy, solidarity, and emotional renewal.
As the Francophone performers step into the spotlight, Casablanca is once again reminded that in uncertain times, laughter remains a powerful tool for unity and resilience.
This year's edition emphasizes both inclusivity and exclusivity, with VIP invitations distributed to key partners and cultural influencers. Organizers reminded guests that tickets must be validated through the Guichet app, as third-party resales are not secure or valid for entry.
Whether you're here for the punchlines, the people, or the prestige, Comediablanca 2025 promises a night to remember, where laughter becomes a language of unity. Tags: comediablancaComedy festival in Casblanca

Saad Lamjarred's rape appeal trial on hold following alleged €3 million blackmail plot

The appeal trial of Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred, accused of rape and aggravated assault, originally scheduled for yesterday in Créteil, near Paris, has been postponed to an unspecified date. The delay follows new evidence presented by the singer's defense team, who allege an attempted blackmail. According to a statement reported by the media outlet Al3omk, associates of the plaintiff, Laura Prioul, allegedly approached Lamjarred at the end of 2024 with a proposal for a €3 million financial settlement in exchange for withdrawing the complaint. Lamjarred's lawyers are now considering filing a complaint with the French judiciary to denounce what they describe as an «organized blackmail operation within a criminal network». During his initial trial in 2023, Lamjarred was sentenced to six years in prison. He appeared in court free under judicial supervision and was found guilty of assaulting a young woman in a hotel room in 2016—charges he continues to deny. Additionally, Lamjarred faces another legal proceeding concerning similar accusations related to incidents dating back to 2018 in Saint-Tropez. The date for this trial has yet to be set.

Saad Lamjarred's Appeal Trial Postponed for Further Investigation

Rabat – Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred's trial has been postponed, with reports saying that no information has been released on the new hearing date. Lamjarred faces rape charges after French woman Laura Prioul filed a lawsuit against him in 2016. AFP quoted sources close to Lamjarred's case, noting that the court's decision to postpone the trial was due to the need for further investigation. The victim's defense said the new appeal trial reflects the 'hope of full and final justice,' but also cited a 'new ordeal' for their client. In February 2023, a court in Paris sentenced Lamjarred to six-years in prison under charges of aggravated rape and assault. Seven out of the nine juries found him guilty, and the judge sentenced him to six years in prison. The prosecutor initially asked for a seven-year prison sentence and for the defendant to be banned from entering France, but the artist maintained that he is innocent. Following the initial verdict, the controversial singer's defense announced an appeal process. This is not the only alleged rape case that Lamjaraeed is facing. Another woman accused him of similar acts in Saint-Tropez in 2018, and he has also faced similar accusations in New York. Lamjarred is renowned in the Middle East, North Africa, and the whole Arab world, with trending songs in other countries as he regularly features alongside international artists from India and beyond. He has 15.6 million subscribers and more than 15.3 million followers on Instagram. Tags: Saad Lamjared trialSaad Lamjarred
