Sana Yousaf, a 17-year-old influencer with a strong digital presence on TikTok and Instagram, was shot dead at her residence in Islamabad on Monday, according to media reports.
Sana Yousaf was shot at close range by an unidentified assailant, who was a visitor at her home. The attacker could have been a relative, according to SAMAA TV, which reported that the influencer had been 'fatally shot by a guest'. 'The killer reportedly entered the house and opened fire before fleeing the scene,' a report in The Express Tribune stated.
The body of the influencer, who succumbed to her injuries on the spot, was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for a post-mortem. While a police investigation is underway to apprehend the attacker, no arrests have been made in the case so far. While the motive for the killing remains unclear, the police are probing all angles, including that of honour killing, reports suggest. The incident, which took place within the Sumbal police station jurisdiction, comes on the back of a growing number of such cases in Pakistan recently.
The incident sparked outrage on social media, with #JusticeForSanaYousuf trending on Instagram and X. 'Sana Yousaf's murder is a stark reminder of the dangers women face, both online and offline. Cyber fraud racket busted, kingpin among 2 arrested
Varanasi: The cyber crime police in Varanasi on Sunday arrested two members of an interstate cyber fraud gang, including its kingpin, for duping people under the guise of offering business franchises of reputed companies. Producing the arrested duo before reporters, DCP (Crime) T Sarvanan said that the arrested accused have been identified as Sanjeet Singh (35) and Krishna Shaw, both residents of Kolkata. The police recovered 12 mobile phones, a laptop, multiple SIM cards, Rs 15,430 in cash, Rs 5.83 lakh frozen in a bank account, and a customer data diary from their possession. During investigation, it was revealed that Sanjeet Singh was the mastermind behind the operations. Once a potential victim showed interest, gang members would reach out using the collected leads and share forged documents, including letters of intent and approval letters, to gain the victim's trust. They would then demand payments under various pretexts such as registration fees, security deposits, and GST charges, which were transferred to accounts appearing to belong to the said companies. Police said the collected funds were later distributed among the gang members.

Croc seen in Powai lake, right behind IIT-B hostel
Mumbai: A local nature lover and Save Powai Lake activist recently spotted and photographed a crocodile at the lakeside, behind hostel 17 of the IIT-Bombay campus. The green activists have once again urged the civic body to fully clean Powai Lake to safeguard the biodiversity at this water body. Photographer Ramesh Kamble, with his Instagram handle posted a video of the crocodile observed behind the IIT-B hostel, which has created considerable interest among activists. NatConnect Foundation, which, along with local resident groups, is running a campaign to clean up and conserve the wetland, called for a census of the crocodiles in the lake. "There were supposed to be 18 crocodiles present in the lake as per a study done a few years ago, but a fresh crocodile count should be done now," NatConnect director B N Kumar said. Environmentalist D Stalin noted, "Besides water pollution at Powai lake, it is observed that the basking and nesting sites of crocodiles here are severely disturbed due to human activities. A new 5-star hotel building has been constructed near the lake, while IIT has also installed metal grills to stop crocscoming into their campus. I have earlier mentioned this to BMC."

'For Juneteenth you want to just throw something on a freaking cookie cake and expect someone to buy it?' she added. 'That's bulls***.'
