Let There Be Rock: AC/DC return to Perth after a decade
Legendary Australian rockers AC/DC will return to Perth for the first time in more than a decade when they bring their Power Up tour down under later this year.
As revealed by The West Australian last week, the iconic band — responsible for classic hits Back in Black, Thunderstruck and Let There Be Rock — will make Perth their penultimate stop on a month-long, five-stop Australian tour at Optus Stadium on December 4.
The tour kicks off at the MCG in mid-November before playing in Sydney and Adelaide, and wrapping up in Brisbane on December 14.
Lead guitarist Angus Young and vocalist Brian Johnson will be joined by Stevie Young — nephew of Angus and late rhythm guitarist Malcolm — drummer Matt Laug and bass player Chris Chaney, formerly of Jane's Addiction.
Tickets for the Optus Stadium concert will go on sale at 1pm on Thursday via Ticketek.
Ticketek encouraged fans to log in or create an account and update your contact details, before purchasing, and only use one device and browser to access the sale, with multiple windows triggering bot protection and remove customers from the queue.
Young, 70, who started the band with Malcolm in 1973, has been with the group through its storied 52-year history, winning Grammy awards, and being inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. AC/DC last played Perth in November 2015.
They packed out Subiaco Oval across two nights, playing in front a combined 80,000 fans during a tour which attracted more than 500,000 nationwide.
WA retains a special place in AC/DC history as the final resting place of singer Bon Scott, who lived in Perth from the age of 10 until heading east to chase a career in music.
Promoter Christo Van Egmond — whose father was the band's promoter for more than four decades — anticipated huge demand but said the group wanted to keep ticket pricing accessible.
'The show is bigger and better than anything I've seen from the them before, it's a true spectacle and a right of passage for all Australians to see,' Mr Van Egmond told The West Australian.

The Power Up tour kicked off in Germany last May, and moved 1.7 million tickets on the first day of sales.
The band performed throughout Europe before hitting a run of 10 sold-out shows in North America earlier this year.
AC/DC are about to start another run of European stadium shows, kicking off in Prague on Thursday before wrapping up in Edinburgh on August 21.
The tour is named for their 17th studio album, Power Up, which became AC/DC's sixth to top the ARIA Albums chart when it was released in 2020.

The world's greatest hard rock band AC/DC has confirmed they are coming home to Australian stadiums for their first shows in a decade in November and December. The good news is the legendary stadium rock kings will open the Power Up concerts at the MCG on November 12 before heading to Sydney's Accor Stadium on November 21, the bp Adelaide Grand Final on November 30, Perth's Optus Stadium on December 4 and Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium on December 14. The bad news is the online battle for tickets to their five shows will be a virtual highway to hell. Demand will be off the charts. The rock legends sold 1.7 million tickets in one day for the opening European leg of the tour. It's been 10 years since they tore up our biggest stages and their Aussie fanbase now stretches across five generations. There's also an international AC/DC army of European, South American and North American fans who follow the tour around the globe. Because Angus Young is a fans-first, no-nonsense kind of rocker, unlike every other stadium act there are no pre-sales, so there is an equal playing ground for tickets which are priced from $132.45 including booking fee. 'They want everyone to have an equal opportunity to get tickets. AC/DC are extremely fan focused, always have been, so no pre-sales, accessible ticket prices and an unbelievable show,' their Australian promoter Christo Van Egmond said. While it takes a few days to transport and erect the giant Power Up staging and lighting, it appears there are gaps in the Australian tour schedule to add extra shows. The band sold more than 520,000 tickets when they last toured Australia on the Rock or Bust run in 2015. The promoter, who took the reins of TEG Van Egmond built by his late father Garry who toured AC/DC in Australia for 40 years, said the rockers have been in searing form during their runs in Europe and America over the past year. Christo has seen more than 60 AC/DC shows since he started going with his father when he was nine years old. 'They sound unbelievable; Brian sounds incredible, Angus is absolutely shredding it up and they're on fire at the moment,' he said. The Australian summer stadium concert season is shaping up to Rockember, with Metallica and Oasis also bringing their huge world tours here in late 2025. The Power Up album debuted at No.1 when it was released in 2020, making them the first band to have an Australian chart-topping record in five consecutive decades. Tickets to the tour, which will feature Aussie rock stars Amyl and the Sniffers as the support act, go on sale via on June 26 at staggered local times - Sydney from 9am, Adelaide from 10am, Brisbane from 11am and Melbourne and Perth from 1pm. All tickets are available via Ticketek except the bp Adelaide Grand Final concert which is sold by Ticketmaster. Julie Goodwin shows off remarkable physical transformation as MasterChef star returned to The Project after sixteen years for its final Sunday show
Julie Goodwin has returned to The Project, sixteen years after she first appeared on the program as the original guest. The 2009 MasterChef Australia winner returned on Sunday to Channel 10's flagship current affairs program as it heads into its final week on air. In this episode, Goodwin looked back at clips of her first appearance on the show in 2009, when she was introduced by the original panellists Carrie Bickmore, Dave Hughes, Charlie Pickering, and James Mathison. The 54-year-old was, at the time, the newly-crowned winner of the first series of the cooking competition and looked markedly different from how she does now, after having shed almost 20 kgs almost a decade ago. "It's so strange like I look at that, and I was in my 30's, now I'm in my 50's, now you guys have been here for a long time," Goodwin told Sunday evening's panellists Waleed Aly, Sarah Harris, Sam Taunton, and Rachel Corbett Goodwin. "I'm a grandma now, my boys are adults, they're living adult lives and heaps has changed so much has changed." The star said what hasn't changed is The Project has been a staple in her household since her first appearance on the show all those years ago. "Just being able to tune into the day's events without going into a sad spiral and the way you've done this for sixteen years has been beautiful. "And I'm so thankful to have been a tiny part of it." Elsewhere in the episode, the panellists showed sweet photos of Goodwin cooking in the kitchen with her young granddaughter, Delilah. The celebrity chef said she was "thrilled" the youngster is a regular at the dinner table and enjoys helping her grandmother in the kitchen. It comes after a Ten spokesperson earlier this month confirmed to The Project will air for the last time this Friday, June 27, after almost 16 years and more than 4,500 episodes. "The impact that The Project has had on the media and entertainment industry, countless careers, as well as on Australian society and culture, cannot be overstated," the spokesperson said in a statement. The Melbourne-based show in 2022 suffered reported budget cuts and declining viewership at Ten. Meanwhile, the broadcaster faced mounting challenges as the show's ratings dwindled due to criticism of its left-wing bias being too "woke". Goodwin's return to The Project comes after she stunned fans with her slimmer-than-ever appearance on Instagram earlier this month. The star's natural grey locks peeked through her short dyed tresses in a cooking video, with the hairstyle accentuating her slender face and frame. The culinary extraordinaire's slender collarbones and arms were visible beneath her black-and-white striped T-shirt. Goodwin kept her signature glasses on, which have become synonymous with the star for more than a decade. Her physical transformation comes after she has faced serious struggles while grappling with the challenges of fame. She recorded a drink driving offence in 2018 and made an attempt on her life in 2020. The chef recently revealed she's now in a much better place, telling Nine Honey: "I'm good, I really am".
